The Foundation for Democratic Process (FODEP) has said George Mpombo’s decision to form a political party, which is called the People’s Democratic Party (PDP(, was welcome.

FODEP Executive Director Macdonald Chipenzi said more political parties are likely to be formed prior to 2016 tripartite elections.Mr. Chipenzi told ZANIS in an interview that it was every Zambian’s democratic and constitutional right to form a political party and to have the freedom of association.

He however, said those forming political parties suddenly may not have an agenda and therefore might just be wasting their time and resources. He said the survival of political parties depends on their stamina to woo supporters and be able to win elections in any given political set up.

Recently, for Zambian deputy High Commissioner to Nigeria, George Mpombo formed the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) which he says will be a bulwark against injustice, oppression and all forms of hegemonic tendencies.

In an interview, Mpombo, who is also former Defence Minister in the MMD government, said his decision to form a political party was as a result of the overwhelming support he received from all the provinces in the country.

In another development, Mr. Chipenzi has praised the political parties that participated in the Feira parliamentary by-election in Luangwa.
Mr. Chipenzi also congratulated the Patriotic Front (PF) for winning the Feira parliamentary seat.He said it was now time to develop Feira constituency and end political rhetoric which does not benefit the electorates.

He added that Zambians were looking forward to seeing massive development not only in Feira but the rest of the country.

    • That dirt might have something better to offer. Having come from Nigeria, he may have learnt a few tricks from there since he has adopted one of the main political party’s names from Nigeria. l hope PDP of Nigeria are the ones sponspring him too! He could have a good head on his shoulders kekekekekeke!!!!!!

    • Mpombo condemned the removal of subsidies on fuel, maize and agriculture inputs saying the decision was “like you are using a sledge hammer to kill a fly.”

The outspoken politician also condemned the bloated government of President Michael Sata.

“They are too many Deputy Ministers, if you go to a ministry and throw a stone, it will hit a deputy minister,” he added. “This country is sleep walking into a major disaster.”

  1. So far 3 of those who campaigned for PF and helped it win the elections, but later did not receive a big “thank you” have formed their political parties: Mr. Mulongoti, Fr. Bwalya and Mr. Mpombo. Although all the 3 have denied that they were not bitter for not receiving a big “thank you”, we can all read the bitterness in their statements. Non of them has a “new” agenda in their parties apart from wanting to be presido of Zambia come 2016. I hope they will not soon vanish into oblivion.

    • They have already vanished into oblivion my dear. They all seem to have in common multiple personalities, driven by selfishness, short and talkative.

    • Actually, we have a few Nairas to spare. Come and join and see how making dollars appear from the blues happens. Lol!

  2. Bwana Mpombo losing your job in Foreign service does not warrant you forming your own party. Ask Miyanda, Kavindele, Magande and all the rest; they have tried that and it didn’t help them. There is no short cut to State House. As it stands now, Nevers and HH have a better chance of being President than you. Swallow your pride and work with one of the existing parties. You are just embarrassing your family and friends.

  3. Listening to Mr. Mpombo’s interview definately the man is bitter. PF members want to have that job. Even Jesus Christ left the earth to give chance to prophets continue preaching the Word . Mr. Mpombo, you are not the only one with brains. Opposition say PF has no brains ,but PF has many educated people dont be cheated we are in PF with wide experience. Dont be blinded because you are losing and we the PF will meet you in 2016 and believe you me you have little chance of removing us frm office. Keep on dreaming. Viva , PF Alluta continua, vIctoria asseta !!!
