MMD Solwezi Central MP Lucky Mulusa has been joined by his Zambezi East counterpart Sarah Sayifwanda on his 170Km solidarity walk from Chingola to Solwezi.
Journalist Thomas Zyambo who is due in court next week for sedition has also joined in the two MPs in the walk.
The walk from Chingola to Solwezi was scheduled to commence at 13 Hours and last for five days.
The walk is aimed at protesting the removal of subdies, the poor state of the Chingola-Solwezi road and the arrestd of journalistst.
The protestors will also use the walk to listen and interact with the local people on the impact that the removal of subsidies has had on their lives.
“We want to walk in order to feel the way our people feel everyday. When we say the removal of subsidies is hurting people, we want to be speaking from a point of strong knowledge,” Mr Mulusa said.
“The poor state of that road has killed a lot of people. We will be stopping over at every dark spot to pay homage to the people that have died. That way we hope to bring to the attention of the PF government the importance of upgrading this economically important road.”
He said the Chingola-Solwezi road contributes significantly to the treasury and wondered why it has not been listed on the key roads to be worked on in the Link 8,000 road project.
Good way to lose weight, nothing else. Work on those pot bellies boys!
Having been to my country recently, I am encouraged by the sheer determination by most ordinary Zambians’ aspiration to improve their lives. This very uplifting passion must be supported.
More money in their pockets comes with its consequences, more cars on 1961 road network, drink driving, accidents & sadly westernized life styles, fast foods, sedentary life styles. Where they used to walk, they are driving. I say sadly coz, there are more obese Zambians today than 10yrs ago. We have more western type diseases like diabetes, heart diseases, cancers etc than 10yrs ago.
We are sitting on a time bomb and something must be done now!
There is need for more healthy life styles so this walk can help cut down bad cholesterol.
Kambwili & GBM must join to protest their own bad…
OK, data yaba so. The road that MP wants to protest about is actually in the pipeline. The Contractor is actually mobilising. A contract worth over (K600bn) was signed earlier this year. THE ONLY THING IS THAT MP WANTS TO TAKE THE LIMELIGHT AS IF HE PUT PRESSURE FOR GOVT TO DO WHAT IT ALREADY HAS STARTED.
Now, under MMD, the vocabulary was Structural Adjustment where we had privatisation, pruning, downsizing, liquidations, closures. Then we moved to Highly Indebted Poor Country Initiative where we had Fiscal Discipline, Wage freezes, Strikes, Vending, etc.
What kind of legacy is this? Obviously you know that it is easier to destroy than to build. It can months or years to build a house while I can pull it down in a day! MMD forget.
Bushe takwabako utuma Leopard anywhere along this road?
Walk naked and never eat also, we in PF are watching and moving on with our Agenda, may MMD bless you
Thats another way of campaigning to the people along Chingola/Solwezi Rd. Well done!
Well done you Mulusa and Sayifwanda. Sata and PF shouldn’t be playing with NWP.Heard when Muchima spoke in parliament that was the way to go ,you spoke very well sir regarding NWP.l feel for my province its the source of Zambian economy now and start calling us we re backwards.
Sata where is Zambezi source its in NWP .
please pipo we don’t need PF in NWP.
Solwezi East for UPND.
Wish Humphrey Mulemba was still alive Sata would have been History .
PF don’t play with NWP
Bana Mazai. Just continue your humble contribution of keeping Zambia clean. Keep cleaning our Toilets.
Mulusa is the only serious opposition MP and currently appears to have the people’s interest at heart. If I was in Zambia today I would have definitely joined the protest walk. Somehow, I see armed Police taking an interest in this for the wrong reasons…..
anyoko uli mbwa no muchila pamatako, why should they walk naked.Move on with your agenda but wait 2016 you shall put your rotten tail pamatako yobe
even sara sayifwanda sure…?
Yes why not!!? Is Simusa and Zyambo not men-enough to walk with day and nights?
Aint these two both married? I would like to know what Mr Sayafwanda and Mrs Mulusa think about these two walking by themselves from Chingola to Solwezi in the bush.
I hope they won’t have a car or two following them because doing so would be cheating and taking a mickey of Kaondes, they have to walk the full distance no monkeying along the way we’ll be watching.
If he is a serious politician who cares about people’s interest, I wonder where he has been to start interacting and listening to the people now? He is just highlighting his failure to do the job he was elected for! He gets elected and forgets about the people and the road he was using to visit his constituency during the campaigns and now he wants to interact with the people because MMD dominance is crumbling in the district. It makes you wonder if Mulusa would be doing this if MMD was still in power! He should have been lobbying for this road when they started to talk about link Zambia in parley and this proves that formula one roads by RB was a hocus-pocus designed to hoodwink Zambians to vote for them. How come Mulusa forgot his town in the formula one roads under RB??
Its Mulusa’s first time in Parliament.
The hav to walk people ar dyin each and every on solwezi-chingola road d,t be fanny one day it may be one of yr own
Be careful of banyamurenga around the thick forests!
iwe IMBWA CJ whatever you have said naiwe wine, infact Msana wanzil has cleared the air concerning married people doing that.
Let them walk ,Simmusa should join as well kaili is UPND and Chingola is his town
Walking, riding and driving are all ways of expression. Either you want to raise money for charity etc. Those who find if hard to accept that someone wants to walk for course are mad??????????
Be yourself. I would have Joined the walk if I was in Zambia
YOU SUCK- WALK WHO HAS STOPPED ANYONE?
I KEEPING SUPORTING PF UNTIL ITS OUT OF GOVT. NOT GOVT WILL DO IT WITHOUT A SINGLE COMPLAINT THEY WILL ALWAYS BE THERE.
We need to be sober when discussing this matter. This is about life and death. No sane human being make funny of death. Use this road and understand how luck it is for you to arrive alive. Yet this is the road contributing all the monies being used to develop other areas. Lets for once wear a human face. Those dying due to canages on this road are not only people from NWP, but even Sata’s relatives, including foreigners. You think you are killing North Westerners only, thats not true. Its every race of the world.Unless you rejoice when there is death then you can not suport mulusa. This road has been there for many years. I used it before last year,it was better. So no one should ask the question why MMD never worked on it. Sata naturally hates people from this region. Kabompo has a histroy.
You would think you are targeting North Westerners in your genocide schemes of killing them indirectly in road canages, but you will realise that you are actually killing your own tribes men as well. Mulusa is right. He should have given us enough notice so that we join him. I’m not from this province, but I’m always using this road. Well thinking human beings would suport Mulusa because the beficiarie of this road are not NWesterners but people from all over the country and the world at large. Bembas,Tongas, Ngonis, Ngumbos,Lozis,Philipinos, Whites,Indians, blacks, colourds, rich, poor, young and old, Educated and un educated are all dying on a daily basis on this road. What can you say now that you know the extent of deaths on this rich road
Mufumbwe vote did not reflect hate from HE Sata.
Well said by @Katele. Our friends are good at cleaning toilets. Let them focus on this core activity and leave the rest to Bembas to do. They should just be patient as we start developing their province. Toilets will however be their responsibility for a long time to come.
Go on Lucky, you did well to come back to Zambia in 2011 after 17 years in the diaspora and won a parliamentary seat at first attempt from which to fight from. The outward bound course we did in Mbala of climbing mountains and rocks, tedious expeditions in the wild, high and low ropes not forgetting solo nights plus the no nonsense military training at Zambia military academy should give you the impetus to finish off that stroll in the park. You are a fully Zambia Army trained soldier, nothing can stand in your way.
Sata and his blockheads can not be allowed to mutilate multipartism with their dictatorial tendencies engineered by Kaunda.
mulusa is in a hurry to gain cheap publicity. This is the chap who was a question and answered totally different by telling us about his fake academic qualifications.
Meanwhile you are there hiding behind another coward’s name and doing nothing about anything and someone comes out in the open and takes kabimba by his balls, unraffle Mutembo’s fat belly, protests against the exclusion of such an economically cardinal road from the pave Zambia project based on the fact that North Western province did not vote for PF and you are there telling us about how educated you are and how genuine you are qualified academically.
You should read “The Capitalist Nigger” it describes chaps like you perfectly. It says and it’s true that in Europe and Americas, African immigrants are the most educated group amongst all immigrants but look at their community! It’s the consumer community that depends on others for everything, meanwhile the Chinese and the Indians.
Well Last time I used the Chingola-Solwezi road I found people with a damp level measuring and I was informed that works have started to up grade the road, Let’s hope won’t be for nothing
Dumpy level? I think that’s what it’s called…
Mulepya mumantanta bamabala because of friction. You start, watch out for Hungry Hyenas on the way. You could be ration ka
Hundred kilometres has already been covered in two days, just 80km more!
“The walk is aimed at protesting the removal of subdies, the poor state of the Chingola-Solwezi road and the arrestd of journalistst”.
Where are LT journalists trained?
My friend, go to city market, lima tower and millenium, you will find a lot of bembas who are cashiers in the toilets cashing in thousands of kwacha. Why are they there wanzaa weyi.
Can we go it alone in NWP? We are very capable of doing it not these bemba noise makers. We shall see you in 2016 including the current bye election in Solwezi East. We don’t need PF. For what?
MMD started development in NWP under Levy Mwanawasa. Chiluba like his brother sata have done nothing apart from reaping our copper for Muchinga in particular Chinsali where there is nothing totally to talk about. He is our hero MHSRP. Not these greedy chaps who are just reaping from where Levy left by wreking down NWP. It is a matter of time Mulusa, I will join you.
