Mwense District hit by shortage fuel for over two weeks now.

Mwense District has been hit by a shortage of pump fuel for over two weeks now.

Motorists complained to ZANIS in the area that the fuel shortage has left them with no option but to get the commodity in Mansa while others have resorted to buying from illegal fuel dealers.

They said they are covering a distance of 218 km in order to buy fuel from Mansa a situation they described as sad and costly.

And some heads of government departments, who sought anonymity said buying fuel from illegal fuel dealers is not safe and may lead to vehicles breaking down.

They said some government projects have stalled due to lack of the commodity as workers are unable to move and carry out their activities.

And when contacted for a comment, Spring Energy managing director, Davis Simukonde, said efforts are being made to resume the supply of fuel.

Meanwhile, a check by ZANIS at the filling station discovered the absence of the commodity while workers were outside the station chatting.
