Police challenged to explain PF cadres’ State house march

The Southern African Center for the Constructive Resolution of Disputes (SACCORD) has challenged the Zambia Police service to clearly state the procedure Patriotic Front youths used to march to State house over the weekend.

SACCORD Executive Director Boniface Cheembe has told Qfm News that there is need for the police to tell the nation whether the PF youths were granted permission to match to State house.

Mr. Cheembe noted that many are the times when other public processions of a similar nature by the opposition have been stopped by Police even after being given notification in good time.

Mr. Cheembe said it will only be fair for the police to work accordingly and uphold professionalism to avoid being accused of being selective in the application of the Public Order Act.

And Mr Cheembe said as much as SACCORD welcomes the move by police to investigate those behind weekend’s fracas in which rival Patriotic Front cadres clashed, police should always be vigilant and alert of such happenings to protect innocent citizens from being caught up.

Mr. Cheembe has since appealed to the Zambia police service to ensure that they quickly complete investigations into the matter and ensure that the culprits are brought to book.

  1. what investigate – they know who the buggers are! stupid police officers – very unprofessional!

    • how did the youths match to state house kaili later on gather at the school in northmead without police permit. if they were given a permit what criteria did the police use to give these youths the permit? But whatever the criteria they used to grant the youths the permit has shown that it was wrong, kaili they have been denying upnd siting possible violence.nomba the people they give the permit IF they gave them a one are the ones who have turned out to be a menace to society and themselves. Ba police mafi sana aya!!! Lusaka police commissioner should resign on moral grounds. tulekwatako insoni bane twapapata!!!!

    • sorry citing not siting. tulabutukila uku posta before abena ndobo and saulos, cindy na nostradamus tabala posta kaili, so tuma mistakes once in a while.

  2. These are stupidi idioti police officers who do PF instructions and know no professionalism. Why investigate when they know those who started the fights and their leaders.

  3. This clearly exposes the police’s unprofessional conduct. It is now very clear that the Public Order Act is meant to stifle the opposition or any individuals with divergent views from the PF. Shame on the I_ d_o_i_t General of Police.

  4. Police ignore this demand please. PF is ruling so they don’t need any permit or notification

  5. They mean investigating like they investigated who beat up people meeting at BIGOCA church in matero? or investigating who poured chibuku on Frank Bwalya while in the studio? The police are useless and a being used like doormats.

  6. Zambia police service is tragedy, a curse to our nation. I refuse to believe that they are under instruction from above. No. The are just incompetent.

  7. Welcome to Zambia the real Africa! Have you ever wondered why Africa is at the bottom of the pile when it comes to development and working together as one people? Look no further, Just look at the shape of the continent. It’s shaped like a question mark! yes ? You are neither here nor there, don’t know whether you are going or coming in short you are clueless and invite surbodination by others to yourselves. True democracy can only work when the police work as a respected autonomous force free of government of the day manipulation. Is it not so common in Zambia especially that a new president comes into power and tears the judicial setup and other arms of those bodies charged to protect us and uphold the law to give him autocracy and passage to corruption without being questioned?

  8. Viva SACCORD – though your acronym sounds more like a new S type Honda Accord.Thank you voicing out these daily incompetences that we see everyday. Last year I was driving up the flyover bridge next to findeco when I got to the summit of the flyover I saw a swarm of hungry sun baked youths with greasy looking faces carrying placards and logs in support of Sata whilst intimidating motorists and banging on their cars. They literally brought the traffic to a stand still for hours on end! What was this all about? Shouldn’t they march on pre-agreed routes free of moving traffic? I would be lying if I say I didn’t feel intimidated and I am of a massive stature! Please POLITICIANS stop using these youth as your thoroughbred Dobermans most of whom are so illiterate. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE!!

  9. These are the type of leaders left in our country. Toothless barking doesn’t get you anywhere!
    Where is the redeemer?
