PATRIOTIC Front central committee member Ngosa Simbyakula says the choice of the candidate in the Mkaika by-election contributed to the party’s loss.

Dr Simbyakula said the Mkaika loss is a lesson for the party’s central committee to listen to the people on the ground when it comes to appointing a candidate.

He said the imposing of candidates has not been working well, hence the need to let the people choose a candidate of their choice.

Dr Simbyakula, who is also Justice Deputy Minister, said if a wrong candidate is chosen, it is very difficult for the party to win a by-election.

The deputy minister said this in Ndola yesterday when he addressed PF members at the Ndola district conference at the Trade Fair grounds.

“The Mkaika loss was bad and does not speak well about the party,” he said.

He said candidates must come from the grassroots to ensure that they are chosen by the people themselves and not imposed.

Dr Simbyakula said defectors from other parties must be embraced but long-term members must be given first priority when it comes to party positions.

He urged members to make strong structures on the ground to ensure that the party remains strong and is able to win any by-election that will come by.

Dr Simbyakula praised PF members of Ndola for organising the first ever conference for its district members and called on other districts to do the same.

He said the PF has also started political education for members to enable them to become better administrators for the party.

And the deputy minister, who is also National Project for Poverty Reduction – a PF subsidiary organisation – chairman, said the organisation would soon train 600 PF women and youth in different skills to empower them.

  1. Mr Simbyakula, you and us the people of Zambia are in the same boat, for us the people of Zmabia , IT IS THE CHOISE OF HE PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE FOR 2011 PRESIDENTILA ELECTIONS THAT IS CONTRIBUTING TO THE COUNTRY’S ECONOMICAL DILEMMA.

BUT BECAUSE IT DOES NOT HELP CRYING OVER SPILLED MILK, WE HAVE RESOLVED TO PATIENTLY WAIT FOR 2016 TO REVERSE THE SITUATION. MY ADVISE TO YOU DO THE SAME IN THE COMING BYE ELECTIONS, CHOOSE THE RIGHT CANDIDATE.

    • The other time it was ECZ’s fault, this time its the Candidate- when will it be PF and Mr Sata’s poor leadership! People cant assemble any more in Zambia,Abuse of the Judiciary, wasting meager resources on by elections, PF violence against students and the list goes on. jst a reminder

    • Lets be fair and clear here. Its not the candidate’s fault, but the party’s fault that caused this guy to loose dismally. If this guy stood under MMD he would have won resoundingly. But because he stood under PF Party’s banner whose policies are out of touch with modern Zambian political climate it cost him lucrative job.

To win back the support of the people PF should stop abusing and misinterpreting the POA. Replace Chibesakunda,Matibini,Nchito,Malila, and Kabimba. Do away with Mmembe and Grievous Bodily harm Monger(GBM). Then PF will regain most of its lost credibility. Change or be doomed!

In the end it was his greed and stupidity that cost him his seat. For now let him wallow in destitution for the PF will ditch him. He should forget politics and devote his energy on other…

    • NO NO NO IT’S NOT ABOUT THE CANDIDATES IT’S ABOUT THE WRONG CHOICE OF PARTY HE STOOD ON. Zambians now know Sata and PF are liars

    • The PF CANOE has been hit by a hippo and has developed a huge crack under is haul . So water is entering the PF CANOE and making it sink slowly. It has sunk half way by now. The moment Mmembe will jump off the boat that will be the end of it. Now Mmembe is busy making money to pay back part of share of the loan and free himself from bondage. Once he achieves this he will jump off the CANOE and rock it hard to its demise.

    • He didn’t deny, in fact he is brave to report the acts of his opposition Minister of Injustice Kabimba, who impose the candidates.

  2. even if that candidate stood on MMD ticket he could have won the seat!! PF is one term, people of Zambia are busy searching for sata’s replacement

  3. May be it was the choice of the party by the candidate which made him lose. How come he won under mmd. Review and chech your house , before you start accusing everyone, but PF itself

  4. The honeymoon is over and the tide is turning. The ballot is Zambia’s secret weapon. You don’t need to educate anyone anymore, the majority of our citizens are now graduates in the field of voting. Zambians are simple people, let them live in peace and they will vote for you. Threaten them or bribe them to win votes, then you are in trouble. Our democracy is slowly maturing. We just need to re-write our destiny via the our constitution.

  5. So succinctly said by all contributors so far.

PF needs to do soul searching, get rid of ‘ back riders’ and get responsive to people immediate and future aspirations. (Fr33dom)

  6. Dr Simbyakula,, we have heard what you have said, remember more by-elections are coming we will ask you to confirm that you have done the right choice of candidates so that you don’t come with this stupid excuse

  7. NOT TRUE, It’s not about the candidate. It’s the Party itself. Even if you had Put SATA or the best of your PF members. Results were going to be the same. People of Zambian have known PF’s Lies; they are angry and just want to reverse the mistake they made in 2011. Please accept the defeat and don’t lie to us again.

  8. I thought PF learnt that lesson from the Chipata Central by election which Mangani lost. The electorate never wanted Mangani.

  9. Mr. keep on finding and listing excuses. Come 2016 you’ll be accusing chickens for your massive lose. Its the PF that people are voting agaisnt. Zambians more often vote on Party lines than individuals.
At this rate of no inner searching RB will have the last laugh as he sees what happened to him. I suggest you consult him on what he did wrong for him to go so fast. He should seriuosly be your best friend.

    PITY PITY PITY

  10. @Dr – can’t even do a proper analysis. Wrong medicine/prescription – this illness will eventually kill this patient.

  11. Am begining to have confidence in our electro system. Winter Kabimbiasis fever is slowly having a cure. The commit ion is begning to deliver peoples wish

  12. What’s this kneeling Nonsense about?? Please don’t abuse our traditional values just for your own selfish motives. I just hate this backward thinking. These are the same people that when voted in Power?? They will do the opposite and start insulting people who voted for them. We see it with the President himself.

  13. ” said the organisation would soon train 600 PF women and youth in different skills to empower them.”
What about non PF women and youth? Are some people suddenly more Zambian than others under this regime? Can we ever get a worse, selfish more self centred government than this one?

    • Very good observation. I immediately thought that this man is not very intelligent -in the same vein he is busy maligning the majority of the citizenry — how dull can one be!!

  14. The Don is completely wrong. At his level, he has done a lot of research to know that when you start with a hypothesis (HT) such as “type of candidate” or wrong candidate as in this case, one needs to test the HT with reality on the ground or actual data in other words? His conclusion is not in conformity with reality and in engineering design they call don’s approach “plugging the leak”.

Sooner or later the don and many like him in PF will have to plug many more leaks and keep fishing for excuses until they are shown the door. May I ask what contributions has this legal mind made to jurisprudence?

  15. You guys elevated the street thugs above the law & stripped our helpless police of what little power was left of their semi literate sous. Your cadres beat up & stripped a woman for crying out loud. A defenseless woman. That is someone’s mother! What? Did you think we would watch you do such a cultural offense against who we are as a nation and turn a blind eye while singing kumbaya? Exactly how stupid do you think we as a nation are? We are showing you who is BOSS one bye election at a time till we see the back of you in 2016. We made SATA, we can toss him like we did his comrades before him.
We own this land. And we are taking it back.

  16. Exactly the same way UNIP and MMD failed to read the prevailing mood in the nation. The earlier it sinks in their brains that it’s the PF and not ‘wrong people’ that the voters are disgusted with, the quicker they can get to the drawing boards and try to fix this problem before 2016.

  17. Very insincere kneeling indeed. Talk about taking a traditional norm out of context, thereby cheapening it and and ending up looking like a first class ldiot.

  18. you chaps even want to take retirement age to 65, and worse still, pay monthly allowances and not a lump sum amount to retirees.

Bloody thieves who have run the national coffers down.

now we cant get ARVs, vaccines, food has gone up, no investment since you got into power.

WHAT TYPE OF GOVERNMENT ARE YOU?

  19. @wantashi, PF can go to the drawing board, but trust me, they cant fix anything now, and even if they tried, they would just make themselves a laughing stock.

this tribal party is finished, their end will be classic, and sata will probably not even be there to witness the end of their eutopian journey.

  20. I would like to disagree. As a resident of Katete, David Phiri under MMD was different proposition. Failings of the ruling party coupled with the indiscipline & thuggery of it’s members played a bigger role than David Phiri. The local committees of the PF have created a few problems for itself, the riots & looting of April 2013 were instigated by the party members including the Provincial chairlady, have the victims been compensated? No! The youth from the party locked up council offices, no arrests & no party discipline. We have watched with a lot of dismay & accordingly we voted. Yes David Phiri was not liked especially after defecting, but had he joined another party, he could have done better. Hon. Dep. Minister, your party has failed to respect us your employers like we were under…

    • @ kalaluka, Well written. PF have made themselves fo.o.ls with their cadres just doing what they want like vigilantes. What kind of Government is this?? Let the Mkaika movement continue in all other By-Elections to come. It hates to see a party, Citizens trusted to lead them, just change like a chameleon. They condemned MMD, yet have proven to be worse. Changing the retirement age to 65?? Honestly when will young Zambians work?? Whoever comes power should change the retirement age back to 55. WE SHOULD ALSO HAVE A TERM LIMITATION FOR BEING MP. 2 terms should be enough; we want other Zambians to contribute.

  21. Automatic nomination is only one option. It is better to examine chances of winning elections as one additional criterion. Victory will be sweeter next time. Elections is about give and take. Winning all the time is a form of losing. However, winning needs to be the trend for the PF to govern effectively.

  22. If Mr Sata and PF stood on the opposite side to the people when they were in opposition, they would not have been voted into office.

Come back to the side of the people Mr Sata and PF.

  23. All the comments show how jealous people can get over PF members for being in power. While you are bitter, we in PF are focused on developing Zambia and enjoying the benefits of being in power.

  24. Your PF party is lost at sea and you’re blaming the rough winds instead of the clueless ship’s captain and his incompetent crew

  25. Dr Simbyakula for a person of your level of education, your reasoning is too shallow. The same person won the seat under MMD

May you need to understand that he lost the seat this time because he moved to the wrong party.

  26. PF will continue suffer loss if they continue with imposing of By-elections and what they should remember is that all confusions are coming from “Don’t touch my anointed” ! You may argue or not but the whole party should realize that their evil elements who are bringing a curse to PF as Silvia said.

  27. PF will continue suffer loss if she continue with imposing of By-elections and what they should remember is that all confusions are coming from “Don’t touch my anointed one” ,Remember Matero Incident ! You may argue or not but the whole party should realize that there are evil elements who are bringing a curse to PF as Silvia Masebo stated.

  28. Very good observation. I immediately thought that this man is not very intelligent in the same vein he is busy maligning the majority of the citizenry — how dull can one be!!

  29. See it from which ever point of view ba mudala ba Simbyakula. The fact is simply that the people of Zambia have woken up from the night mare of voting for PF and are not going to be taken for granted.

  30. A political rather than analytical statement. The massive resources of the ruling party coupled with incumbency offset poor appeal, Dr. Simbyakula. Poor appeal does not explain 20%. You have lied to the people and they gave you enough time to come clean and try to work with them. Instead you create unnecessary bye-elections and when you go to campaign you are busy insulting them (Guy Scott – always insulting RB in Eastern Province), busy beating them (GBM and the reserve of hooligans), and bribing voters (remember Donchi kubeba – it also works in reverse!!). The honeymoon is over – we wont spare you.

  31. Has PF lost an election in its strong area? are the votes gotten in mkaika lower that what PF got in 2011? Go on pF the person who hates you will never aprciate your beauty.

  32. If the “unsinkable” TITANIC sank how much more for a CANOE? The guys who jumped mistaking a canoe to a ship will soon be jumping not into a ship but straight into the ocean. Watch out, it is a world of changing fortunes.

  33. Dr. Ngosa Chimbyakula’s explanation of PF’s loss in Mkaika is SHOCKING, especially taking into account he is a trained Lawyer and former member of staff at Unza’s School of Law. This now confirms that PF recruited a greater number of intellectually bankrupt academics.

Chimbyakula knows the PF’s well-established Project of inducing by-elections by enticing vulnerable opposition MPs to ditch MMD or UPND so as to beef-up PF majority in Parliament. In this regard, PF expected David Phiri to be popular in Mkaika but lost as a PF candidate. In Solwezi East Taima was replaced by a another PF candidate who also lost to UPND candidate.

Chimbyakula and Lombe must use their Law training to advise PF stop the mutilation of the Justice Ministry.

  34. They deserve that,pf has stoped listenin to pipo just th way mmd did when it was in power that th reason it loss,pf is also loosing onth same grounds.

  35. if only they could compile the majority of these comments and make a change of direction, the boat could miss the ICEBERG. but, alas, they (PF: Wynter, Masebo, Mmembe, Nchito, Sata etc) are so pompous, stubborn, un-advisable they can’t listen.

    2016, they are out!

  36. Chimbakula is a misdirected failed UNZA project, just like Alex Ngoma and Mimba Malila the current solicitor general. They have kept hoping from one political party to another, giving wrong legal and political advice to government for them to win favours. Their analysis and legal advice is always defective and unfortunately swallowed by illiterates like his senseless sata.

  37. No freedom of assembly for other political players then PF is headed for doom as we are going to vote for the opposition out of sympathy in 2016.
As for petauke Central ,regardless of the court appeal by PF,votes will never be given to them. It is MMD, UPND or NAREP.

  38. Its a pity how those at the top keep telling party members to be organised at the GRASSROOTS while them at the top eat all the fruits. Simbyakula must be questioned by sensible party cadres what it takes to be organised at the grassroots; is it to allow those in government to continue enjoying while party organisation is left to the so-called staunch cadres? It is a shame for these chaps to keep blaming the lower organs of the party for disorganisation while those at the top do nothing to put things straight. All they want is to continue eating while blindfolding the majority of the members. What contribution has Simbyakula made to the party if I may ask? These chaps all hide in political pronouncements. Thats why the cadres in Lusaka are up in arms haunting out Wynter Kabimba. PF is dead.

  39. No wonder the man wanted to commit suicide, can you imagine, even PF which told him to resign and recontest, turn around to say they featured a wrong candidate? who did they want to feature then? this is madness, its a big lesson for defectors, a bird in hand is worth two in the bush, history has been made

  40. That is a major reason, No wonder the man wanted to commit suicide, can you imagine, even PF which told him to resign and recontest, turn around to say they featured a wrong candidate? who did they want to feature then? this is madness, its a big lesson for defectors, a bird in hand is worth two in the bush, history has been made
