Opposition People’s Party president Mike Mulongoti says reintroduction of windfall tax for the mining sector is not debatable.
Mr. Mulongoti has since advised Mines Minister Christopher Yaluma to speak like a patriotic Zambian on issues that affect the nation.
He says Mr Yaluma has no moral right to say that government has no intentions of re-introducing windfall tax.
Mr Mulongoti notes that the PF promised the people of Zambia that they will reintroduce windfall tax once elected into government, wondering the change in position.
Mr. Mulongoti says it is imperative that government avoids from going into open confrontation on straight forwards issues.
Shut up
“People’s Party president” Niyashani iyi? Use the word leader if you can not Use an upper case for president
Mulongoti.
What does he know about mineral economics, later alone mining as business and Technical field?
I am saying mining business and Technical part of it.
You need to understand both to comment fairly and that is why mining experts are also
taught mineral economics. SHUT UP.
Yes PF promised windfall tax to us, so let them introduce it. the mines are producing so high that the lifespan of these mines are greatly reduced. Very soon mines like Lumwana and Kansanshi will be closing due to depletion of minerals. Zambia will remain with empty pits and ghost structures
We need to slowly start introducing the Zimbabwe system. Arab nations make a killing from oil, WHY DO WE FAIL TO DO THE SAME FROM OUR MINERALS?
…its just one of the many issues which PF has lost credibility, lost a lot of sympathisers. I recall one evening watching Bob Sichinga propounding in detail on Muvi TV about windfall tax, Kabimba, Inonge and MCS in western province on Barotse Land, MCS propounding on pensioner’s payments, high fuel pump price and leaders seeking medicals abroad…..
Its not enough just to say ‘we can not do this..’…they need to explain in detail to the core for us to reason with them…otherwise, the notion of deceit shall ever continue lingering over PF. We need the WHY question to be convincingly addressed
Why did RB remove windfall tax , the same RB removed abuse of office law just what was his motive surely he was
This is scandalous, to say the least, to get less than ten per cent (US$ 77.6 million from copper exports valued at US$2.9 billion) of the total revenue from a commodity which is not replaceable. What these people who are calling for windfall tax are saying is very important.
Atleast windfall tax bring income
