The construction of a new ultra modern stadium in Ndola will commence in March next year.
Sports Minister, Kenneth Chipungu, says government is still committed to the building of the sports facility before 2010.
The 45,000 seater stadium which will be erected by the Chinese government is expected to cost 60 million United States dollars.
Chipungu says he has had a fruitful discussion with the Chinese Ambassador to Zambia over the construction of the stadium.
He says the procedures of public bidding and evaluation of the project has begun.
Chipungu also says government is committed to completing rehabilitation works at the Independence Stadium in Lusaka.

I have read from other media that Zambia may not after all experience low fuel prices because of the massive depreciation of the kwacha. Can you bring us this news to so we can comment on it. Thanks.
MMMMMMM? Congrats ok
I hope the goverment is not playing us, this time around :o)
Hi rashid,Moze, matworld,Nine chale,Sweet thang, Eric, CSI, Chewe and the rest
Ba Zed observer
We have a NEW story on a stadium. Nishani? Its not for you to instruct LT. Tafwaya efyo.
Thanx ba Moze
The question id “When is soon”??? this is not the first time to hear this soon news…
Chipungu has a habbit of telling lies. this is the same chap who assured us Zambia would host the All Africa Games. Next day, we pulled out. Does he expect us to believe him?
# 5 Ba Moze. Thanks.
I didnt want to comment on the stadium because I dont think anything will come out of this reported story. How many times have our hopes been dashed. Wait and see. The World Cup is around the corner and we have done nothing about stadiums. This is why I have given up. We could have earned some forex, but our Govt is sleeping.
Besides why is it that all these talks with Chinese are for nothing – Kabwe Mulungushi textiles, Ndola stadium etc. I think the Govt does not tell us everything. Something is fishy.
The big news will be when the stadium is fully constructed, not when construction begins.
The sad news is that Chinese labourers will be doing the work when Zambians can easily do it.
this is where I tend to agree with Sata on Chinese wheelbarrow pushers
Ala kabili
It the only good thing they can do after dissapoining us
**==**==**== filekenifye ba chipungu, why build stadia when we cant even host big events like all africa games!!
UK-Zed Observer
You are right I will also not comment,I will comment in March when the workk starts.
As if…..dream on …dreamers!! :-@|-)

You are right on that one. What i dont understand is where these guys get the audasity to keep cheating us day in day out. ..And in fact, just what we should do about this, because we have been taken for these joy rides more than a couple of times you know?

Oh there are so many things wrong in the way we deal with our leaders in Zambia. We dont hold them accountable to words they say. They can tell lies and make false promises during elections and no-one, not even our media calls them to account after wards. People go to rallies and never follow up what they heard, or even question some of these pronouncements.
We as a people should demand resignation of some of these leaders. They should speak in truth. Anything less than that is a lie. We should not condone liers. The blame comes back to ourselves, we allow leaders to cheat us. Anyone can tell us anything and get away with it.
Mr Chipungu, in your dreams it will commence in March and finish before 2010 it will be a 45,000. Zambian politicians are very good at dreaming, keep on dreaming you ids.
FELLOW bloggers,

This is why we demand for peaceful demonstrations, so that they see just how angry we are. These things cannot keep going on unabetted. Its too much, and personally, i’ve had it up to here (my backside) with this lot. (:|
What is the stadium for? World cup will be SA and when given an opportunity to host only all africa games the govt pulls out they have to pay penalty. where is the money going to come from? why not use the same money to improve the existing infrastructure. we need thinkers in govt not ifyatulo. amachinise it will collapse before they finish
Thanks LT for the news, however I tend to disagree with the Minister.
Chipungu says he has had a fruitful discussion with the Chinese Ambassador to Zambia over the construction of the stadium.
He says the procedures of public bidding and evaluation of the project has begun.
Public bidding and evaluations are two different stages, Mr Minister please tell us at what stage are we.

All this fracas .. because of ‘HAPUNDA’– guys dig your history deeper… :-?:-?:-?:-?:-?:-?:-?**==**==**==**==**==
The stadium was supposed to habe been built begining february this year. what ever happens these people are taking us for granted because we accept whatever lies they say. now the stadium is sheduled foe next . Lets see what happens. there will be no construction
Babie 😕
Whoever you are, listen carefully. I shall say this only once.
NAKANA.:o
Chinese like cheap things, labour and most of the things they do. That stadium will collapse and kill people. Trains in China de-rail, disastrous accidents happen back in China. No Zedian will benefit from this work. One chinese man was found in the container 2 gether with spare-parts. This is the chance they have to bring in their people illegaly. [-(:-\”
lies for breakfast, lies for lunch, lies for supper, this country is an embarrasment to the continent, we felt to host the nations cup sometime back and now its 2011 all Africa games, shame. Iwe chipungu just shut your big mouth, even countries like equatorial Guinea and war torn Angola have better sports infrastructure than zed. check what you did to Dag in Ndola.
Ba pompwe imwe, please dont take us for granted any more, enough is enough.
Chipungu whatever your name is, you must learn to tell the truth for how long are we going to be listerning to the same kind of nonsense! the saying of work to begin soon have been there even before LPM died may his soul rest in peace!
Ooops
:-h
am out. blogg you all tomoro. one love and keep the peace.
talk, talk talk – our politicians talk too much. We want action on the ground.
Hey Hon Members of the LT, I am off:-c:-h
Kenneth Chipungu bushe ajoba finshi? I wonder how our presidents pick some of these characters.
China is experiencing the effects of the financial crisis, so that ultra modern stadium will ever remain in the pipe dream, come 2011, it eill be another campaign promise. When are we going to build a stadium from our own resources? Dont you feel ashamed always banking on fforeign assistance? Ifyakulya ku lomba, na stadium nayena mulombe. Inkongole balimilekelela but still you can not come up with your own development model. China 30 years ago was just as poor as Zambia. Today they are celebrating their achievemntwhich they have made without depending on foreign aid.
We have that heard that story over two decades now!! Ha ha! Walk the talk!!
I think we need to change the law to veto these guys that are appointed as Ministers. We have ended up having the worst politicians in Gorvernment.
Where do these guys come from??. Every appointee that the President makes has to be approved by some kind of an independednt body because Parliament would be biased.
Maybe we would have less lies flying around!
we are here just observing and chilling ….
New stadium? March next year? Yeah right!!!
It won’t happen!
talk is cheap in zambia seems like everyone can afford it
i’ve been hearing the goverment say the’ll build a new stadium for the last 10 years.new stadium my ass! |-)
New stadium when ba pushi haven’t even constructed a new hopsital since 1964 or a new university!!
Iya….. na fuluka ku Itawa ku Ndola. This Stadium has been a ghost story for decades… [-([-([-([-([-([-([-([-([-([-([-([-([-([-([-([-([-([-([-([-([-(**==**==**==**==**==**==**==**==**==**==**==**==**==**==**==**==**==**==(~~)(~~)(~~)
Nowadays, even to be a house maid, you need minimum qualifications and so why must we overlook this important issue on the highest office of our territory and population, President of Zambia.
Also, the issue of age limit is very import for each profession. I propose that one must qualify to be a maid if and only s/he is between the age of 40 – 55 years.
Similarly, a Zambian Presidential candidate must be between 30 – 65 years of age so that anyone above 70 does not qualify on body physical fitness and health. Also, such must have a Masters Degree in any field and worked in GRZ civil service for atleast 2 years. NCC, please take note of this. **==

How long do we have to wait to see the stadium erected awe twanaka nobufi mwe!
:d/
Its a way of the chinese to tell us “stuff it, levy is gone, so what can you do about it, we’ve serious issues to look at now” if an ambassador is the one committing says a lot to me.Where is the constructor, project engineer, etc.Embassy peple are paid to calm fires abroad and its exactly whats going on here.Guys, we have been gettin loans for even disaster tents, we have a huge surplus, we can’t we get loans to build infrastructure like stadiums, roads, rail, etc.All I hear is a loan for petty stuff. Are we broke like our neigbor or we are pretending to be better than a neigbor.Come bwana minister, talk about building two stadia from your coffers, one in L/stone and another CB
In this time of hunger and hardship..do we really need a football stadium???..It seems our priorities will never change!!!!
Ba Chibale!A standium is definately needed in Zed as we dont have one that is of international standards at the moment. As much as I agree with you on the issues facing Zed at the moment, this is where we need leaders with a vision, who are practical and can help push the country to were it can and ought to be…unlike ba pompwe tukwete….oooohhhhh PENZA were at thou?
