Chipata Town Clerk resigns from his position after being charged for corruption

Mr Chingangu confirmed his resignation from the public service work in Chipata yesterday barely few hours after by Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) arrested and charged him for cheating Contrary to Section 311 of the Penal Code Cap 87 of the Laws of Zambia.

“I have resigned from my position as Town Clerk for Chipata and I have to move on and do other things in life,” he said.

ACC Public Relations Manager Timothy Moono confirmed in a statement the arrest of Mr Chingangu.

Particulars of the offence were that between 1st October, 2010 and 31st December, 2010, Mr Chingangu 53, of house number 510020, Luangwa Road, in Chipata, fraudulently wrote a letter to Monze District Council recommending Ms Namiye Kawanga for employment, and introducing her as a permanent employee for Mazabuka Municipal Council when in fact, she was an internee.

Further, Mr Chingangu is alleged to have induced Monze District Council to pay a total of K44, 904,107.66 to Ms Kawanga.

The Commission has also arrested Ms Kawanga for three counts namely forgery, uttering and obtaining pecuniary advantage by false pretences.

Details are that Ms Kawanga, 25, a Machine Operator, of Garden House in Lusaka with intent to deceive, made a false pay slip of Mazabuka Municipal Council for the month of December 2010 contrary to Section 347 of the Penal Code Cap 87 of the Laws of Zambia.

In the second count, she is charged with uttering a False Document contrary to Section 352 Cap 87 of the Laws of Zambia.

This is in a matter were Ms Kawanga uttered a false Mazabuka Municipal Council pay slip to Monze District Council.

In the third count, Ms Kawanga is charged of Obtaining Pecuniary Advantage contrary to Section 309 A (1) (2) (c) Cap 87 of the Laws of Zambia.

This is in a matter were she dishonestly obtained employment with Monze District Council.

The duo have since been released on bond and would appear in the Mazabuka Magistrate Court on 24th January, 2014.

  1. Mr Chingangu, you will remain a man of integrity for resigning to pave way for all investigations. I salute you for positive move ……….not like these politicians who cling to their positions even when they are probed.

      Are you convicting the man before he is tried? If anything you should commend him for showing credible leadership by quitting his position following his being charged. YOUR LEADERS IN PF do not have this kind of morality so SHUT-UP!!

    • @St Jude, you SHUT and allow others to express how they feel. Who are you to stop people from commenting. Atase, just because you are one of the corrupt people who ate with RB, cakubaaba. Why commend him for resigning, that is his decision.

  2. @ jude if mentioning mmd and the chain of irresponsibilities do not go well with u,pliz get this fact:mmd annoyed many normal citizens apart frm those that were partaking in their evil ways. personally i liked RB tho i ddnt vote 4 him bcoz he wz surrounded by starved vultures like peter daka, siliya and unfortunately these are the pipo who were in mmd inner circle

  3. This is a man of integrity, whether he is found guilty or innocent.

    Kabimba should have gone the same way if he has nothing to protect.
