Former Defence Minister Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba has been suspended from the ruling Patriotic Front (PF) on allegations that he had failed to be remorseful for resigning from his ministerial position.

But Mwamba fondly known as (GBM) has said he would remain loyal to the party and President Michael Sata because had not done anything wrong against the party and its leadership apart from resigning from his ministerial position.

“Rules of natural justice demand that any acused person is given an opportunity to explain himself. I am therefore hoping that my party will give me that opportunity before punishing me,” Mwamba said.

Mwamba told the Daily Nation that he had heard that he had been suspended by Northern Province PF secretary Everest Chella whom he said had been telling people in Kasama that he was being guided by President Sata to suspend him (Mwamba).

Mwamba said he would not take his suspension from the ruling party seriously and that he was going to wait for President Sata to write informing him that he was no longer useful to the party.

He however said should President Sata decide that he should be expelled, he would respect the decision of the Head of State and the party in general and leave gracefully.

Chella is said to have been telling people in Kasama that he was being guided by President Sata to suspend Mwamba and the Kasama MP said the Northern Province PF secretary could have been instructed by the Head of State.

Mwamba maintained that his decision to resign from government was on principle and that those who were claiming that he had failed to show remorse should have told him what transgressions he had committed against the party.

He said he would also wait for the people of Kasama to guide him over his next decision should President Sata decide to expel him from the ruling party.

“I have just been told that I have been suspended. I am coming from one of the wards in my constituency and according to what I have heard, they are saying that I have been suspended because I have not been remorseful for resigning from government but I have always said that I left government out of principle. So for me, I will not take that suspension seriously and I will wait for a letter from President Sata to inform me that I am no longer needed,” Mwamba said.

Mwamba said he would continue touring various parts of the constituency because he was still a member of the PF.

He said he was still enjoying the support of his constituency and wondered why Chella had rushed to suspend him from the party.

    • Form your own party sir.

When I saw your weight on TV, I was worried, you are not healthy sir.

There is a subtle saying in my University that explains that, if you cant control your weight you cant control yourself, and if you cant control yourself you acant look after ANYONE

I thing your resignation was poorly timed, you could have done it in a better way, although that doesn’t excuse the people that are increasing their mileage based on your downfall

Overall, hearing you talk I dont think you are the Sharpest tool in the kitchen

      You are from my tribe
      Good luck

      Thanks

    • Mushota you claim to be smart and educated because you live in the UK ( if at all you live there). But let me correct you we hule we. man can not see weight but can weigh some things! By the was , it time for you to go for work ( the old people you take care of are missing you.

    • GBM does not have a weight problem, people have a problem with his weight, and that is not GBM’s problem. if he is happy with weight, leave him alone.

  1. So ba PF, tell us…is it policy for your MPs to show remorse when they resign. What are the penalties of not showing remorse? UKwa HAS NEVER SHOWN REMORSE FOR FAILING US, should we also suspend him?

    • I am certain that the word Remorse was misused in that sense. I suspect that who ever used it did not know it’s connotation.

  2. Michael Sata continues to appear immature. It is evident that GBM has outmaneuvered his establishment. Everyone acknowledges the fact that GBM will comfortably retain his seat.

  3. GBM should have been fired long time ago because he think money is anything.I once had a chance to work with him and I know how evil he is.Sometimes I suspected he was a Satanist.GBM shouldn’t be supported by any patriotic Zambian.

    • You are a liar. Even you are evil. The man has simply resigned are going to force to to hold to a job he does not want? Since the vacancy is taken why can’t we put an end to this?

    • @Chilu mpi, dont mix issues. GBM is not being victimised for being a nasty man as you are putting it. He has been suspended on his actions to resign and now not showing remorse for resigning.

    • @Chilu mpl
You wouldn’t even know satanism if it was on sitting on your lap.
I’m not a fan of GBM but this talk of Satanism is uncalled for…it is the selfsame reason why assets of hardworking entrepreneurs in Zambia are destroyed by lazy jealous morons like yourself. In Zambia even driving a black car and wearing black clothes you risk being lynched by lazy empty tins.
Just work hard and believe in yourself instead of drinking chibuku and face-booking all evening.

      Wake up!!

  4. How can a normal person show remorse when their decision is their own towards a happy mind? There is something wrong with the logic of those in the PF demanding remorse-fullness in GBM. The man resigned to please his mind and he cannot therefore be remorseful as if he was guilty of something wrong.

  5. if the party is undemocratic and abuse its own rules and regulations, why entrust such gathering with the country.
I thought the process of suspension is clear.
    Charge,
    exculpate
    verdict
    rewards.

  6. These empty tins are creating a storm in a tea cup and they think they can run IDC or INDECO really laughable indeed.

  7. Lack of clear guidelines on how to go about issues. In government there are clear guidelines and procedures that are followed to suspend some body, I don’t know with political parties!!!!!! Chatala sile!!! Fwandi mwati tumacita vyani???

  8. TELL US THE TRUTH MUDALA. IF YOU AND YOUR FAMILY CAN HAVE THAT MANY CONTRACTS IN ONE INSTITUTION HOW MUCH MORE DO YOU HAVE ELSEWHERE. HOW CAN SO MUCH NATIONAL WEALTH BE FOR JUST ONE FAMILY? BUT ALSO HOW COME ZNS NEVER SMELT A RAT. NOW YOU ARE TRYING TO FIGHT GOVT USING MONEY GOTTEN FROM GOVT CONTRACT. SO YOU ARE JUST USING PEOPLE TO HELP YOU FIGHT YOUR BUSINESS AND POLITICAL ENEMIES.

  9. Its not the nfirst time for a political leader to resign from cabinet. Late Levy Mwanawasa resigned as Veep during MMD/ FTJ regime and not one bothered and he just lead a quite private life until FTJ woke him up in the mid of hte night to stand on MMD ticket as a presidential candidate for MMD. I fail to understand why the resignation of GBM from cabinet has made some PF officials growing cold feet and calling for his expulsion from PF. Why so yet PF is not short of manpower already the position of Defence Minister has already been filled by Edgar Lungu and so life contnues.Even in private sector people resign for various reasons and it does not make sense to cling to a job or a club when you are not happy about certain things. iTS BETTER TO BE FREE AND THE MAN HAS CLEARLY STATED WHY?

  10. The same root taken by MMD, PF is walking there in. MMD mistreated Magande. People were watching. PF does not need to mistreat each and every one of the voters individually for them to resent the party. What they have done to GBM and the Bemba Royal Establishment is enough for most voters to distance themselves from this self-destructive party. UPND startt putting your house in order. The ball has been passed on to you by default – PF misrule

  11. Suspension is not expulsion, we all know. It is clear that GBM is being tried by the PF pushing a lower organ to suspend him. They want to see what his next step will be. GBM, this is like a chess game. You have to think ahead of your opponents. Are you going to wait fro the central committee to uphold the suspension or not. You may choose to take your time or weigh your chances by staying in. For me, I think PF is now on oxygen. It is dying. No one can save it no matter the cleverness of mmembe, winter, guy scott , lombe and matibini. The party is on its downward spiral. Quit will the time is still there. Jump to dry ground ( Madzi akali munkhokola). Join a progressive party now. PF is dead.

  12. Ka mushota u will be a very dull wife if @ all any man worth his salt can consider u for a wife! Don’t comment wen u have nothing sensible to say! Do something constructive with ur time than being a nuance on LT!

  13. Its clear that GBM’s resignation has really confused PF. These chaps talking about GBM not being remorseful dont even know what they are saying. Why should he be remorseful when he chose to resign? Why are people so dull kanshi? The reason GBM resigned was that Sata was fighting Sosala who is his (GBM’s) grandfaher. How can Sata continue to fight GBM’ grandfather and GBM pretends all is well. Resigning was a sign of protest against Sata’s harrassment of ba Shilubemba. We know that little Chela is scared stiff of the massive GBM. Thats the reason why the fellow is using Sata’s name to protect himself. Chela is a silly boy daring a giant in the name of another giant. Yes, elyo lunyele!!
