President Michael Sata yesterday held a bilateral meeting with the Director General of the Food Agricultural Organization (FAO) Dr. Jose Graziano Da Silva.

The meeting discussed several aspects of FAO’s contribution to national, regional and world efforts to improve food security and other related matters of mutual interest.

During the meeting, President Sata invited Dr. Da Silva to Zambia for an on-the-spot check of the various programmes FAO is supporting in the country.

The Head of State emphasized that a visit to Zambia and engagements with local technocrats was the only practical way that would assist FAO to appreciate the situation on the ground and tailor specific programmes for the country.

And Dr. Da Silva expressed gratitude to President Sata for the efforts being made to achieve mutual cooperation and benefit between Zambia and FAO.

Earlier, President Sata met Roll-Back Malaria Partnership Executive Director Dr. Fatoumata Nafo- Traore.

The President informed Dr. Nafo- Traore that Zambia has made significant strides and invited the Partnership to visit the country and work with relevant agencies to contribute to the fight against Malaria.

And Dr. Nafo- Traore applauded the efforts already made by the Zambian government and committed to visiting Zambia and making resources and their vast experience available to supplement government effort.

Both meetings where attended by Foreign Affairs Minister Wylbur Simuusa, Agriculture Minister Robert Sichinga and Zambia’s Ambassador to Ethiopia Susan Sikaneta.

This is according to a statement released to the media George Chella special assistant to the president for Press and public relations.

  1. He will have a wonderful time, show him Arcades, Manda Hill and UNZA, show him Freedom statue, and thats it really to see in our poor country isnt it?

Mr president there is nothing to see in Zambia, I was bored after 2 days

    Thanks

    • However revolutionary it may be, the Internet still hasn’t altered the basic law of human communication: Being nice to your interlocutors is a good way to start any negotiations, particularly,
If you are a country like Zambia, that could do with more leverage

The FAO director I am sure will be swayed by requesting him to extend the lending hand on projects that are used for stealing people’s monies

The misaprporation of funds by this and previous government is a SIN
      Leviticus 19:11
“You shall not steal; you shall not deal falsely; you shall not lie to one another.”

PF please confirm you are ruling by the 10 commandments as you eluded to a lot of us

      Thanks

    • Mushota you are who you are today because of Zambia and i am pretty sure when you die your remains will be put to rest in Zambia.

  2. I thought the President will talk of other PRESIDENTS VISITING ZAMBIAN. Why is he doing the work of the Health Minister….Malarja for wht ?

All sensible Predients r running away from Sata. Why ???

    • Its amazing that our President hardly holds bilateral meetings with other Heads of State on sidelines of such AU meetings. I think its true our man is being avoided by other leaders. Even in pictures you can tell its only uncle Bob who is close to him…… Sad.

  3. MUSHOTA CHIFWEMBE – Before you start throwing stones onto those you describe as committing SIN, why don’t you look at yourself in the mirror.

KILLING Unborn Babies as in your case, is a SIN of Highest Order. Its also called MURDER.

  4. Mwefimpumbumwee!Mwaishiba ukuchita critisize. What have u done in yo own individual capacities?U must a confused lot who do not see good in watever the President does & say. That’s undemocratic and stupidity of the highest order.

  5. U must be a confused lot.U display hate that comes from deprived minds.ln yo filth heads there’s hate, jealous, falsehood, slandar, lazyness etc.Sata will remain what God says he is.

  6. I can’t imagine how it feels not to be commended even when you mean well. Sata is facing a double edged sword – one side created by himself and other by those who detest him.

  7. What is Sata going to show him in Zambia?

How the PF Government have failed to deliver fertilizer on time?

How farmers get paid late, or sometimes never?

How money and maize stocks are wasted and stolen at the FRA?

This FAO DG is just being polite listening to his nonsense. He knows it is an IDI0T talking!

  8. Since I left PF calm is now returning to the party. What’s my next move? Just de campaign them, after all I didn’t really mean it when I left MMD to join them.

  9. The objective of inviting FAO director general to come to Zambia by Mr Sata continues to add agony to Zambia of failure by any foreign leaders to visit Zambia. The FAO chief is not docile like us Zambians. He has followed the unprofessional governance displayed by our president in the nation. Assessment made by FAO clearly out weigh benefits to be gained by his visit to a nation that has poor track record of good governance by PF govt. Director general’s visit to Zambia would not add value to FAO ethos as an international organization to be duped by PF and his govt who have left farmers stranded without farming inputs and majority people will starve this year.

  10. The president wants our Technocrates to learn more when the boss visits, and he might put in word for us as a country after the visit.presido means well here lets support.

  11. What is the purpose of this invitation?
Has the president sated what the objective of inviting FAO chief is?
Is it simply to have someone invited to we can host someone of high profile?
    What is the intention?
What are we hoping to achieve, get help from him, or help him or just share a light moment with him?
If benefit from him, what benefit are we expecting or projecting?
If we want to help him, what help do we want to render?
If mere socialization, what is the meaning of it – socializing with FAO chief, and then what?

  12. it is a pity that 49 years after independence we are still focusing our energies on food security and poverty alleviation. This is a sign that we are still miles away from real development and it is so because of the leadership that we have had and continued to have. I liked the drive of Hon Mutati that focused on wealthy creation instead of poverty reduction and food security. Its high time Zambia harnessed and made use of its abundant natural resources without put trust in the international community for ideas…..

  13. Sata out smarts everyone. What can he get from interacting with war mongers like Paul Kagame, Museveni, Joseph Kabila and others? If there is one president who is very intelligent on the African continent, it is Sata. Rupia Banda interacted with all these useless African presidents during his short term. What did we benefit as a country? The answer is nothing. As a matter of facts Zambia is now doing very fine in all sectors of the economy.
