Former United National Independence Party UNIP General Secretary General Malimba Masheke has advised the ruling Patriotic Front government to listen to the people or risk being irrelevant in the future.

Speaking in an interview in Lusaka Gen. Masheke urged the PF to listen to people’s demands while they are still talking peacefully because continuing to ignore their demands might force them to take action against the government some he says which would bring anarchy to the country.

“When people are still talking in peace is when they should be able to capture them, they should not allow the situation to worsen into anarchy because when people are demanding for something and then as a government you fail to do so, to see the light you might be excluded in the future”.

” Time will come when people will stop listening to the government and want to do it their way and that will be anarchy but from anarchy they will form their own government”. He cautioned.

He called on the PF government to take the opportunity and dialogue with the public as they risk being irrelevant in the feature if they continue to disregard people’s demands as well as fail to engage in dialogue.

He feather reminds the PF that they are not the first people to govern the country and that they will not be the last ones do so hence the need for them to listen to people.

    • @ kudo’s what Masheke is saying has truth in it. How long can the govt continue to ignore the masses? It may well be that Zambians are taken for granted and, hence the bad behaviour on the part of some if not all in govt. Like a badly behaving child, a parent may have to resort to a spanking. And no this is not a call to arms but a plea to the govt to listen to the people before they lose it.

    • Which masses?
We need to distinguish between the masses and hakainde and his kind. The people’s wishes concern Jobs and lower cost of living. Please Bo Masheke, don’t mislead the public.

    • why are all thinking about violence and anarchy??,,, this is about a draft constitution, a drafted piece of paper its not even law yet, PF should just released to the people..
Thats why africa was colonized because black people always want the worst for themselves,,, already Sata has been transformed into a dictator by his worshippers.
If Sata was today to give Zambia a great constitution with 50 + i clause, running mate and other great clauses which can make Zambia standout from the rest of africa… Sata come out as an african hero very ease, but PF cadres are so blind with tribal hate and fear of tongas and immediate greedy,, they cant see the future

    • Bo masheke, these 1diots are already irrelevant, its just time we are waiting to elapse and rest be assured that they are on their way out

    • He is speaking from experience hence his advice is credible and must be heard. Kudos where were you in the late 1980s when the genral was Prime minister of Zambia?

    • @Ndobo, why scared!!? Masheke is a Brigadier General, that is what he knows or perspective of the system. Just grab our Zambia from that Ngoshe!!
I wouldn’t mind to have Masheke & Miyanda rule Zambia in peace, compared to Sata & Kabi-imbwa ruling Zambia in pieces.

    • @kudos
I suppose you were in nappies when Malimba was prime minister (and KK – wamuyaya nonsense – was NOT listening)!!!

  1. Who is advocating for violence? Does irrelevant mean violence? LOL! PF will be a good example to learners of what a bad, dictatorial govt is. The world is wondering how Zambians put in place such a bad govt. A president with questionable educational background. A president who CAN’T make a statement without mixing issues. A president who can stand before the media and ask if anyone among his grinning cronies has ever seen an animal driven constitution and they smile. What shame.

    • What are people waiting for? PF has lambently failed and its written on the walls. General Masheke is talking sense, but some blind and useful PF cadres see nothing at all. They can’t see because they are blind.
I absolutely agree with you. The Constitution is what makes a Country and PF should be ashamed of themselves for lying to the people in broad daylight that they will deliver it within 90 days.
Pathetic Flabbergasted (PF) a party for the liars, by liars . Just give the people that Constitution and stop playing games.

  2. TB Joshua warned this southern african state, there will be crisis and blood shade. If one stops hearing just know that he is about to die so is pf.

  3. we zambians are docile and very sleepy, thats the source of our peaceful nature. tell this maradio masheke that this is not egypt or ukraine and we dont need a zambian spring.
ba really, this pre independence dinasour is implying that the situation is peaceful now but will later become unpeaceful, thats tactfully inciting the masses. “they should not allow the situation to worsen into anarchy”
to me that sounds like a prelude to a battle cry

    • @ Kudos: You are a FOO1….This is a timely advice to your party of failures from Comrade Masheke. Open your eyes my friend.

    • Just continue burying your head in the sand we shall soon come kick your ass.Pipo are saying that life now is hard.Talk time is expensive, mealie meal is expensive, fuel is expensive, everything is now expensive.Meanwhile we are seeing pipo like Mulenga Sata having the time of their lives.LISTEN TO THE PIPO’S CRY FOR SOON THEY WILL BE TIRED OF CRYING AND THEY WILL REACT.

    • Continue living in denial, by the time you wake up from your slumber, the WIND of REAL CHANGE would have already been reigning. Remain sleeping in dear.

  4. Good afternoon

The advice is all right. It is important for governments to listen to the voice of the people on the ground. However, it must also be said that the voice of the people does not always reflect the critical needs of the nation.

History can show that the popular voice is not always the right voice. Sometimes it is better to make unpopular decisions for the best interest of the nation, in order to secure the future of the next generations. It is only when people have food, clothes and shelter that they are able to be concerned about other aspects of their livelihood.

    • Couldn’t agree more with you Chale.
Food clothes and shelter then any other thing. Our friends are more interested in what they perceive as a ticket to plot 1 and are hoodwinking the weak at heart with lies. I cannot allow any of my family members to rise against a Government that has opened up my village to the market for our farm produce for the sake of a paper that can be amended at the right time.

    • @nine chale
i hear you bro, you are in Germany, history has shown that a good or great constitution jellys everyting together (the people, resources, justice etc) and involves all the people of the land..
Germany had food, shelter and all other goodies but had weak constitution which gave raise a dictator Hilter the man who pushed German to war for his personal reasons.. thats why today you see that German constitution in which no one person has the absolute power

    • Well said br chale, but be reminded that only Jesus wen he comes will be able to provide all our needs and not any among the cheating, greedy politicians.Jesus himself said the poor would always be there. And acording to Ecclesiasts those sayin things are worse today than yesterday or,worse still, that they ‘ll only see ‘heaven’ wen so and so assume power are themselves being unwise.I think in Africa our democracy will for many years demand that we only change governments on the basis of time rather than political crap

  5. THE WRITTING IS ON THE WALL

PF SHOULD ADHERE TO THE ADVICE /ADVISE FROM MALIMBA MASHEKE.
CURRENTLY WHAT IS ON THE GROUND IS THAT ZAMBIANS ARE NOT HAPPY THE WAY PF HAS TAKEN AWAY THE FREEDOM OF ASSEMBLY, THE RIGHTS OF CITEZENS ARE MORE AT RISK NOW LIKE THE DAYS OF UNIP. THIS IS THE VICE ZAMBIANS SAID NO IN 1991. WHAT PF SHOULD KNOW IS THAT PEOPLE ARE NO LONGER INTERESTED THE TRIBAL TALK THEY WANT TO CORRUPT THE PEOPLES MIND. THEY ALREADY KNOW THAT THAT TRIBAL TALK HAS NO MERIT IN IT. TO DAY EVERY ONE KNOWS THAT HH IS THE PREFERRED CANDIDATE IN 2016. WE HAVE ALL COME TO KNOW WHAT HH IS CAPABLE OF CHANGING THE ECONOMIC STATUS OF EVERY CITIZEN BECAUSE HIMSELF IS A SUCCESSFUL FARMER AND SUCCESSFUL BUSINESMAN . VIVA HH , VIVA UPND. VIVA PEOPLE OF ZAMBIA. WE NEED A CONSTITUTION NOW NOT…

  6. ZESCO says, “Load shedding is the thing of the past.” Really! What were MMD guys doing for 20years?
I would rather be irrelevant with a government that has now given me light..

    • So why is Makeni still having Zesco blackouts EVERY night ?

Am I imagining this??? Maybe I go blind every night and by a miracle recover at 2200 hours?

BULLSHlT! This is just another PF LlE!

  7. “Though you grind a foooooooouuuuul in a mortar, grinding them like grain with a pestle, you will not remove their foooollllly from them”. Wise King Solomon in Proverbs 27:22 – emphasis supplied. PF are fooooouuuulllssss.

  8. Unrelenting pummeling such as this, from would be concerned stakeholders, has only tended to generate more heat than light. PF are hopelessly doomed.

  9. Gen Masheke is entitled to his opinion. He has joined the constitution pushers. The big question is ‘ has the PF government adamantly refused to enact a new constitution?’ The big answer is ‘NO.’ Then why the fuss? Selfish motives and hidden agendas by the pushers.

  10. even in home when you emback on several capital projects its at the expense of some luxuries, hence the cost of living. with a little finetunning the Govt will provide results.Yes the constitution issue needs attention, but we refuse to be advised by this masheke who didn’t champion democracy themselves…PF will make available the constitution soon until then we should desist from insiting Zambians but wait..
