Power thump Warriors in league opener

Share

Power Dynamos have kicked off the 2014 FAZ Super League campaign with a 3-1 win over Kabwe Warriors at Arthur Davies Stadium on Saturday.

The two teams shrugged off the 45 minutes delay caused by a heavy downpour that made the pitch water-logged to produce four goals.

New Power defender Billy Mutale made his debut with a goal in the 2nd minute – benefiting from a goal mouth scramble to hand the home side an early lead.

Warriors scared Power when Thomas Mbolela equalised for the visitors when he tapped in a Peter Zulu corner kick in the 21st minute.

Ten minutes later Power were back in front with a Kennedy Mudenda solo effort facilitated by the mix up in the Warriors backline.

Power’s second half substitute Jimmy Ndhlovu, who joined them from their Kitwe rivals Nkana, put the scores beyond Kabwe’s reach when he shook the net with a nice long range shot.
3-1 could not have been the final scoreline had referee Rodrick Nkole not disallowed Emmanuel Chimpinde’s 49th minute goal for offside.
