Presidential silence on violence by PF thugs

This weekend saw some of the ugliest scenes of political violence perpetuated by the PF hired thugs. HH’s entourage was attacked by a well organised troop of PF hired thugs who came in buses. Wilson Mpondamali, a freelance journalist, who went to cover the installation of the mayor in Kabwe was also beaten up on Friday. His attackers were allegedly released in the night. Being a victim of the PF hired thugs twice, the trauma I felt that day of the attack in GIGOCA Church and in Mkaika revisited me. As I viewed HH escaping from the radio station through the fire escape and over the roof of an adjacent building, the trauma was unbearable.
What is shocking is that all this is happening in our Christian nation! Where is the problem? How is it possible to hire thugs to beat up innocent citizens? How can we make these thugs unavailable? What must be done to our electoral system to promote debate rather than exclusion and violence?
The departure point is with President Sata. In June last year, I wrote a letter to him. Did he read it? Let me reproduce the message now that he is also on face book. In that letter, I said, “This is an appeal to President Sata who is supposed to play the role of leader of the nation. I do know that he might not read the Watchdog, the Daily Nation, the Zambianeye, or the Zambia Reports. But I am hopeful that someone close, someone with the privilege to say something to him, will pass on this message. The message is that, Mr Sata needs to free himself from the clutches of evil that have held him captive to commit atrocities against citizens for no apparent wrong they may have committed against him.
50 years of relative peace until PF rule
Mr Sata, Zambians gave you a gift that has chances of one in fourteen million. The best you can do is simply repaying them with favour, kindness, and consideration. The beatings, harassments, intimidations and now the killings under your governance are a strange phenomenon to Zambians. We got our independence in a relatively none violent manner. We have lived relatively peacefully for close to fifty years until you came by. God loves us, where are you getting the courage to hate us and go against God’s people? Do you not know what happens to people who harm God’s people?
The strange thing is that you are supposed to not only be a leader of the nation, but a “democracy role model” to many as well. The hatred and the pain your government, your party, and your sympathisers are inflicting on innocent Zambians is too strange to comprehend. Where are we going Mr President? When you are gone, what will be your legacy? How will people regard anyone carrying the name Sata? Are you aware that the same people, who today are behind these atrocities, will be the same ones to denounce you soon? Where will this all end? Mr Sata, and anyone close to you, please reflect.
Remember that none of us is greater than the collective. Every single human being is just a simple person given a particular role to play. Depending on how you handle your role, you either find yourself a hero or villain. Who knew that Charles Taylor, Muammar Gadhafi, Sadam Hussein or even Hitler would end up the way they did? Who knew that Hitler’s men and women would spend the rest of their lives all over the world running away from justice? Today, the world is small and united. There is nowhere to run to Mr President.
You have made governance very difficult for everyone including MPs to participate in. You have discriminated against your own people and only made promises of development to areas where you received the vote. You have discriminated against your own citizens in many other ways. You have turned democracy into a criterion for punishment. Mr Sata, why are you doing this to us Zambians? We gave you the task of Commander of the Armed Forces not to massacre us using arms government buys from our hard earned money we pay in form of taxes but to protect us but to protect us.
Physical violence by PF
The many massacres in Western province, the two killings and many injuries in Kampasa area, including the attacks on Mr Hichilema and his entourage in Kasama and now Ndola. The beating of Thomas Zgambo by your son, the pouring of chibuku on Father Frank Bwalya, the Bishop John Mambo BIGOCA assault, the attack on Andrew Banda and myself in Mkaika and many more all make very sad reading. The people who died in Kampasa at the hands of your armed forces were merely ensuring that they had a roof over their heads on land that belonged to them. The people of Western province merely want self-determination in the absence of development.
Mr President do you really care or don’t you know what is going on? Are you still the same person Zambians gave the honour to preside over their affairs on September 20, 2011? Mr President, we are not asking for too much. We just need our peace and freedom back!”
Repaying the People of Western,North-Western and Southern Province with evil
President Sata is a very strange person. He repays good with evil. Zambians gave him the presidency, but he discriminates against them, denies them equal opportunities, and withdraws their subsidies. Western province gives him the vote but his government kills those that dare remind him of his promises. During the pact with UPND, Sata got introduced to areas where he was not previously known such as Southern, Western and North Western provinces where he increased votes for himself. Instead of showing gratitude, his party is sponsoring violence against the man. I doubt if Sata would have become president had it not been for the thousands of votes from Southern, Western, and North Western provinces where voters warmed up to him as he was introduced to UPND strongholds during the PACT with the UPND. When the PACT broke up, PF was the net beneficiary. This personality is strange.
Hiring Youths to perpetuate violence

Regarding the youths who are inflicting humiliation and perpetrating violence and pain on leaders, solutions for their plight are needed. Let us not condemn them. Condemnation should be reserved for the misplaced PF leaders who are using them. These youths suffer to make enough to buy a loaf of bread in a day. There is absolutely no way they could have hired buses to attack HH unless somebody paid for them and promised other incentives. Even the chibuku that was poured on Father Bwalya was paid for by somebody.
Unless we quickly craft lasting solutions for our youths, the violence will soon take dimensions that will leave our peaceful co-existence in tatters. When HH was attacked in Kasama, I argued against the notion that the attack was an act of tribalism. It was important that that view was nipped in the bud. Had that view held, Southern province, too, would have become a no-go area to Bemba leaders and that would have been the birth of ethnic violence.
On leaders behind the sponsoring of youths to commit evil, these are individuals with low thinking capacities. These individuals are failures in leadership and cannot earn permanence of tenure through performance evidenced by good results. I have condemned the use of misguided youths to insult, confront, and physically attack one’s perceived enemies as was done with Major Kachingwe, Bowman Lusambo himself, Father Bwalya and in the BIGOCA incidence.
The culture of failing to confront reality as a leader and resorting to using desperate measures of intimidation are an unfortunate development in our political culture. The unfortunate thing is that the youths being used are the same ones for whose welfare; politicians like HH, Father Bwalya, and all political leaders who have suffered political violence including myself went into politics to craft solutions for.
Mr. President hear our cries for the restoration of our peace and freedoms! Let us all remember Wilson Mpondamali and family in our prayers today. He has gone through a lot lately. It’s more than enough for a single individual. He is jobless, accused of theft of a book and chained to a hospital bed when sick and gets beaten when he tries to simply put food on the table for his family in a society where he cannot get employed – it is too much.
By Lucky Mulusa
Why why Zambia? Oh Lord please deliver our beautiful country from these evil men.Remove them from power swiftly Lord.Forgives us for voting such wicked men and forgive us for our own wickedness.Restore Zambia..we cry
We must also ask:
Who is the author of Mapatizya formular?
Who organised thugs to beat Kachingwe and drag him in the streets like a little boy?
Sata’s heart is as ugly as his face. This is a man with a troubled childhood with very little education to show for it. The only thing that makes his presence to be felt is violence.
A people’s army is in the making and we will beat PF thugs to submission come 2016.
Iwe Observer, what has that got to do with the situation at hand? What you are trying to say is that it is ok for you to beat up your wife because your neighbour beats his wife? Are you paid to act dull or you really are this extremely shallow and dull?
There is no other answer to this than to raise against this regime. If Sata had eyes to see, he would have seen the toxic seeds he is sowing in the nation. If Sata had ears to listen, he would have heard our cries long before now. If Sata had a noise to smell, he would have smelt the blood that has been shed in the name of PF since coming into office. However, those with eyes to see can see Sata for exactly what he is…an evil and deceiptful man. If Zambians dont raise against Sata, they may as well waive farewell to democracy because this Man will give you elections in 2016.. Never mind free and fair elections…
Sata is the root cause of certain evils happening in the country today, namely violence and thuggery by pf thugs, accidents, intolerance, falling living standards, kwacha depreciation, constitution fights, etc.
Right now he is happy with all this. This miserable sadist of a president, I wish we knew who we were voting for. Kaunda warned us many years ago, Chiluba (MHSRIP) warned us, Levy (MHSRIP) also warned, RB the same. Oh Zambians oh; Of all the intelligent men and women in Zambia, you only fall for the lies of the devil incarnate. Dont make another mistake dear Zambia.
Just look at the face of this criminal, typical thug. You can not have a president with such an ugly evil face.
I think the President, in good faith, should invite HH, apologise to him and the Zambians for this unruly behavior of the PF cadres. The police should also arrest the perpetrators and send them to court. We are all, supposedly equal before the law and justice should prevail.
People should not even have to make an appeal to the president. A leader should take it upon him/herself to protect his/her people. Anyway, the worst mistake in the world was made by Zambian voters.
When Sata terrorized the Lozis in western province and evidence is there during the meeting addressing the military chiefs at staff college, the the chief of bembas, the GBM camp, the UPND and farmers in Lusaka West, people think he will stop there, check the history and there after project into the future. This man is not stopping there at all. This country is beginning to open wounds which may difficult to heal in the long run.
Next time when Zambians go to vote, look at presidential candidates starting from their faces. Look at Sata’s face. It is clear that the man is dangerous, he can even kill you with his own hands. And then you vote for him to have absolute power given our useless constitution?
So what you are saying is that people should not vote for HH as well because his face is equally not appealing. That leaves us with only one choice. That of Nevers Mumba 🙂
So what you are saying that should should equally not vote for HH because his face is also just like Sata’s when it comes to looks. It looks dangerous. Even more dangerous because he is ever looking angry and un-smiling. That leaves Zambia with only one face that is close to handsome – Nevers Mumba and maybe Elias Chipimo 🙂
Change is the answer to a more realistic group/party that will provide leadership from a clean slate not tainted by ruminants from previous parties or deceptive current PF govt that has failed lamentably to stir an economic agenda or political one except deception without number, LIES, UBUFI, BODZA LA MKUNKHUNIDZA, KUBEJA CHUMBU MUSHOLOLWA. A president who went to school would change things in Zambia, even Guy Scott displays aversive attitude which is typical of a colonialist. Remember he said “if MPs insist on constitutional talks in parliament Sata will unleash paramilitary force to beat up MPs. Today he says “if there is no consensus in the nation about constitution Zambians should forget about it”. Typical of colonialist who laughs about it in private. Change is the answer.
I reckon they are not cadres but PF scavenged criminals committing crimes against humanity.
Shocking and shame to the fake Christian nation of violence.
Sata is fulfilling the dream of Simon Mwansa Kapwepwe. Sata was a member of the dreaded UPP. The methods and intolerance are the same. Sata and his followers are brewing something toxic for Zambians.
Are those guys in the picture lose on the streets. They must be caged, what more evidence does the police need…even in Ndola violence, no arrests?
Ka Saulosi where ever you are you ka wanker, check today’ s headline in that Post paper that you worship. It states how HH escaped the attack from your brothers the PF cadres. Still really pissed about your rantings on the other thread my friend. Really pissed.
This is a good article but Mr. Mulusa do not be myopic. I know you don’t like Nevers Mumba but the truth of the matter is that he too escaped lynch from PF cadres whilst in Muchinga Pronvice. I don’t know if this information came through to you. You have concentrated more on HH recent attack and reading between the lines you must be heading to UPND. Anyway that aside or it is just my speculations – never mind. I foresee Sata being charged with cases do with humanities and subsequently he shall be referred to the international criminal court. It is strange that Sata has not personally condemned the violence. Cadres had machetes, pangas and fire arms. If they got hold of HH he should have been killed there and then. We cannot allow violence to take Centre stage in our peaceful country.
I blame the commonwealth for not expelling Zambia despite being shown all the evidence that the President is criminal. This criminal must be isolated instead of being worshiped. Innocent people must not die or get injured because this criminal has insatiable appetite for power. Kabimba must not sleep easy, he will be arrested soon as this criminal leaves office.
Mulusa-do u have a farm were u cme from? Thats wat you shud be directing your energy at.nt these pety matas of crying babies all the time.zambians too much ukulanda landa, umulomo
Is Jaw Jaw foreign to you….so you would rather hack and maim people because that is more action oriented ! Typical PF thug! Preaching against violence is no small matter Mr political thug!
You Zambians ain’t seen nothing yet. When some of us where telling you Sata has a history of brutal violence such as the Chawama panga assault and not worthy taking to state house you were busy shouting donchi kubeba. Viwoneni lomba vimwaleta.
we still have a long way to go before the rule of law becomes entrenched in our minds. even people that claim to have left this country sometime back such as Mushota seem to be still drenched in this malaise without redress. i read on this platform people who hate MCS or HH to such an extent that even if they were lynched, it would be just fine. what surprises me is the lack of objectivity on most of these issues. i dont know what kind of country we are building where even the media are lacking the resolute focus of condemning violence. whether mapatizya formula, chawama massacre, Livingstone killing, HH deportation from chipata, Dr Mumba chasing from Chinsali and the beatings we are now getting accustomed to, the bottom line is that we are going backwards or in terms of governance
You seem to be missing the point that PF strategy is working towards the objective of re-introduce one party nonsense. there is no reason why they, PF, could just stand by without a word when the country is taking a route of lawlessness. The only problem is that these events will soon supersede their schemes, and they will be shocked to what will happen to all the joy they are getting as a family tree and forest base at the expense of the poor.
@Zed@crossword. I agree with you. PF dont know what they are running themselves into. Very soon PF will be wiped out of the face of Zambia and will be remembered no more. Mark my words.
The face of Zambia!
If the President’s face book is anything to go by then the President has got lots and lots of admirers so statements from the opposition must be measured or confined to politics and not personalities.
Inflammatory statements, insults from HH and the ‘Father’ against the Head of State shall always breed political violence.
News Flash O dull one, I also ‘Liked’ Sata’s page. Does this to you mean I support him? There are a whole lot of others like me who clicked ‘Like’ out of curiosity so do not console yourself with the number of ‘Likes’ on facebook because as you have been told before by other bloggers you basing his popularity on Facebook likes exposes your dull and shallow thinking which is the hallmark of every PF cadre so you do not need to worry about being kicked out of your party.
I was with Fred Membe at UNZANDO. He was a revolutionary. We kept in touch throughout his accounting career with ZSIC. He has generally been a man who defended freedom despite faultering after the ZA debacle. I am pleased that this time round, he is on the side of democracy as he opined in today’s Post. Dictatorship is a friend of no one. Anarchy and violence only breed a spiral of reprisal attacks. If HH is killed on the copperbelt, I shudder to think what would happen to my Bemba relatives in Southern and Central Provinces. Let us all join hands to condemn any form of panga-gun hooliganism. Well said, the Post and Fred.
@Simbwelo, its not only in Southern and Central provinces iwe chiccala, the whole of Zambia will be in flames.
The only reason ka mmembe is writing such an opinion is coz he knows that such nonsense from the PF will ensure their exit in 2016 so he is afraid for himself. Read between the lines my friend.
@dudelove, I have just read Fred’s opinion in the Past Newspaper. I can’t believe Mumembe can write such wise words in his now condemned paper. What is happening? Is he now leaning towards opposition?
@ Crusader, although I would rather spend my ka K3 on Amazon pops, i am intrigued with this story of an unbiased opinion and i shall buy this paper and read for myself.
This is what happens when you vote satan into power.
Guys, is this man handsome or ugly??? I can even see some red lips on him. Make-up???
People are moving with pangas. Others are wearing military uniform. You cant have a country run like this. This situation needs urgent attention – MPs, the church, civil society, Youth movements and students, unions – This sitaution needs to be corrected before we all wail. I saw the genocide graves in Rwanda and from what i was told the signals are not far from ours. Opposition leaders also seem un cordinated and just fighting one other. Church – push for a meeting with this President urgently. Though we hear he is somebody who never takes advice, make an effort to go and see him atleast
This culture of violence being fomented is sad indeed. Evidence on perpetrators and their masters should be collected for prosecution at the opportune time- at the Hague if need be. Zambia should not be turned into another Central African Republic.
Zambia has to eliminate Sata to avoid genocide.
The culture of violence that the PF and its bandits have introduced in this country is a very sad development. Elizabeth Chitika said Chiluba said it in 2001 that i cant give the Presidency to Sata; “teti asunge abantu, kuntu abapatanya” and here we are. I am very upset that innocent citizens are being harrased just for belonging to a different party. Chili ndwii mu state house and very primitive as usual. wake up and start leading, iwe chi Sata. Say something about the violence. Also there is a provision for resigning in your contract in case you are not aware.
Ehe now. you are talking. Sata muwelewele fye.
Where are the pictures of so called PF cadres pummeling Upnd cadres. Does it mean there was only 1 phone the used to capture hh escaping with hands in the pocket. Does it mean all upnd cadres are so poor to afford the cheap Chinese phones with cameras? What about the onlookers, no cameras too? When Book Haram hit Abuja yesterday we got footages within 15 min. HH stage managed this whole saga. I think he can put up a better act next time.
