20 Report For CHAN Training Camp

Share

Zambia’s Caf Africa Nations Championship (CHAN) began today with 20 out of 25 players called-up reporting for the first day of training camp in Lusaka.

Coach Herve Renard was not a very happy man with 5 of his key players skipping camp to attend trials in Europe just a month before Zambia’s opening CHAN Group A game against hosts Cote d’Ivoire in Abidjan on February 22.

The absentees are defenders Francis Kasonde of Power Dynamos, Emmanuel Mbola from division 1 north side Mining Rangers, Lusaka Dynamos midfielder William Njobvu and Zanaco striker Given Singuluma who have all headed to Finland were joined by the latter’s club mate and attacking partner Roger Kola.

Kola was a shock absentee today after he failed to turn up for training on Wednesday with club sources revealing that he too was headed for Europe, although final destination is still unknown.

“Singuluma, Mbola, Njobvu and Kasonde are absent and maybe now Kola, that is half of my team and it makes my job difficult,” Renard said at the end of Wednesday morning’s training session in Lusaka.

“We have to restart the job again of building a team with exactly one month left before the CHAN.

“I want to win on top of doing my job also.”

Renard however left the door open for the five players should their trials be unsuccessful.

Meanwhile, the team leaves for South Africa this weekend ahead of Tuesday’s friendly international to be played in Pretoria at Super Stadium.

  1. But why are most players absent?I think there are serious administrative problems at Football house.Sometimes i wonder if at all Kalu is the best man for that top job.

  2. This is very bad timing for Zambian footballers or Faz and its local clubs, for sure if Zambia is thumpd ar the bad talk will be on this white man.Kalu pliz do something nowander we ar now having faz officials children in the national team. Final warning for Faz u chaps ar just flyg around with huge allowances especially Erick mwanza yo computer or commucitions watever he calls him self. he dosnt responde to our mail he suck [-x

  3. Ba Kalu, yes you are one of Africa’s great sons of football, but the way FAZ is being run gives me much thought. It doesn’t hurt to consult those better than you incertain areas of specialisation. Which team can we beat if this is the foundation we are laying for CHAN?

  4. Always lack of displine and commitment by Zambian players coupled with ineffective communication by FAZ, coaches and players has really derailed down Zambian football.Sometimes these players should be thinking of what they can do for the country and not only thinking what the coutry can do for them.Anyway all the best as you search for greeener pasture.**==**==**==

  5. pliz ba zambia come and beat this zulus on tuesday not to lose again they are so blind that they only think of 2010 as it will change they life 4 eva.we are just woundering what next after 2010 in sa.go boys pipo here have respect for guys

  6. It’s a pity for FAZ that players are going for trials when they are needed most. But there is nothing that can be done. The same players will be more refined when they start playing in Europe. Renard must find more players to cover up. We have the like of William Chinyama(ZEGA),Ben Mwanza & Kelvin Muzungu(ROAN. One can pnly hope that they only leave after CHAN. All they can be advised is to sign pre-season contrac if possible. Otherwise we can not stand in the way of players who want to progress. Renard find replacements and we move on. Some S.A based palyers have expressed ignorance over Tuesday’s friendly game.

  7. Well as usual the coach can say all he wants and probably has set reason to give when.. and i mean when we lose. Zed football is an old sick dog which must be put to sleep lets try Nsolo at world championship level. :d

  8. Good luck Harve. This is third world soccer at its’s finest. Unfortunately you fell to Kalu’s false promises. He know’s nothing about administration.

  9. # 4 Kalu is no were being the best man for the job. Its football councillors that failed to distinguish playing & administering football when voting.

  10. ZAMBIA HAS VAST FOOTBALL TALENT. TIME IS SHORT FOR PREPARATIONS BUT IT IS HIGH TIME THOSE WHO ARE YET TO TEST INTERNATIONAL FOOTBALL TO SHOW THEIR PROWESS. PROVE YOURSELVES, EVEN THE “UNKNOWN PLAYER”, IT IS HIGH TIME YOU PROVED US WRONG. :-w

  11. Renard, very unluck man. Kalu what are u doing? Surely u allow players to scamper like monkeys in the maize field. No despline at all! We thought u are the best man for the job and now we are regretting.

  12. It shows the amount of pride FAZ has in the Zambian team, In England It’s country before club and personally some of our players need to have the same passion for country and club.FAZ are not listening to the fans, kalu has enough experience to know that no european club will ever let their best players miss matches in important times.it should be sorely about the zambian teams progress as a whole this way everyone benefits

  13. I can see the whole focus is on CHAN, but what about AFCON/SA2010, when do we start preparations. By the way preparations is not just when the team goes into camp but for it includes the periode the coach has to go round and have a look at players playing out side Zambia. Let Lwandamina coach the CHAN squad while HR should start to have a look at the players in SA by watching them play, and later on he should travel to Europe and watch our players before he decides who he going to call. IF HR goes to CHAN he won’t have time for this and as such we face being whacked by Egypt. Cameroon have opted to play another team cause zed wanted to send CHAN squad
    :((
