Power rally to draw with Nchanga

Share

Power Dynamos moved back into third place in unconvincing fashion after a 1-1 home draw with Nchanga Rangers at Arthur Davies Stadium in Kitwe today.

However, Power were forced to rally to pick up the three points after Aubrey Chamluwanda fired in a 3rd minute free kick to hand Nchanga the lead.

Chamulwanda turned from hero to zero after handling the ball inside the area in the 24th minute.

Kennedy Mudenda stepped up to convert the penalty that fortunately went in despite Nchanga goalkeeper Toaster Nsabata getting the faintest of touch.

Thereafter, both sides had chances to clinch the win in an evenly contested but modest match especially after the break.

Ignatius Lwipa amazingly shot wide from close range in the 46th minute in what was his best contribution in the match before he was replaced in the 73rd minute by Alex Ngonga.

Power then had defender Billy Mutale to thank for robbing Bwalya Kasonde of the ball inside the box as the latter prepared to cock, load and fire from a very inviting angle.

Meanwhile, Ngonga’s arrival gave Power some spark in attack but sent two breakthrough moves inches wide of the left and right posts in the 79th and 81st minutes.

Power reclaim third place only on goal difference with 36 points, tied with Napsa Stars who drop back to fourth place.

The two sides are three points behind second placed Zesco United and a further seven adrift of leaders Zanaco.

Meanwhile in Chililabombwe, Konkola Blades suffered their fourth successive defeat after losing 1-0 at home against promoted Nakambala Leopards.

Moses Siyanda scored the games lone goal in the second half to hand Nakambala their second win in four games and maintain their unbeaten run in their last four games since returning from the mid-season break.
