The UPND security wing says the violence that was witnessed in Luampa district at the weekend was a result of a failed ambush on their party President Hakainde Hichilema’s motorcade by suspected PF cadres.
In an interview UPND head of security, Captain Cosmos Moono, said the attack was systematically and professionally orchestrated as it was staged at a bridge where tyres were burnt so that the billowing black smoke could cause low visibility as the ambush was being executed.
Capt Moono said as the UPND entourage approached the Kabimbo Bridge, stones were thrown at them and when the villagers realised that Mr Hichilema was in danger, they came to their rescue and managed to overpower their attackers.
He said in the ensuing confusion, the group which had blocked the road scampered towards the residences of chief Mwanatete and that of his sister, Luampa Member of Parliament, Josephine Limata who is a neighbour.
Capt Moono said chief Mwanatete and Ms Limata could have been caught up in the fracas as the assailants had sought refuge in the precincts of their residences and thus could have been mistaken to have instigated the aggression.
Meanwhile, the UPND has urged the police to persevere and do their work professionally to calm the escalating tension in Mangango and Luampa areas as the polls draw close.
Capt Moono said Zambians will reward the police if they work professionally by giving them the honour and respect they deserve.
He said currently the police are working under serious political interference and have been put in an awkward position, adding that they cannot perform even when they know what is right.
Capt Moono said the failure by the police to arrest PF cadres who allegedly attempted to block Mr Hichilema from attending a church ceremony in Mangango yesterday is testimony of the law enforcers’ partiality.
He said the suspected PF cadres blocked the road using logs and as the residents where clearing the way, the police came and fired teargas in them.
Capt Moono said instead of arresting the perpetrators, the police picked two of its cadres including the party’s assistant campaign manager for the Mangango by-election, Kenny Ndumba, who was briefly held before being released unconditionally.
And Ndumba said he is not worried with the arrests as UPND cadres are peaceful and innocent campaigners who will not be shaken by police biasness.
He said he was advising UPND youths not to be violent even when they are provoked when the police came and picked him up on suspicion that he was fuelling hostility.
But recently, Western Province police commissioner Lombe Kamukoshi dismissed assertions of biasness and said police are exercising the highest level of impartiality in maintaining law and order ahead of the parliamentary and ward by-elections slated for August 19 in Mangango and Luampa respectively.
The truth is now coming out. Luampa MP and her brother were harbouring the criminals who tried to set the bridge ablaze to prevent HH crossing thats why they were caught up in the fracas.
Its now clear without a shadow of a doubt that Mwaliteta is the one orchestrating and instigating violence in Magongo.
PF are the ones to blame for the violence in Magongo ,thats why the Police are failing to charge UPND cadres with any case.
Mwaliteta was also caught smoking Chamba with his imported cadres and the police just paid a blind eye. But why?

This is man is a role model that all Zambians should be proud of. He has accomplished quite a lot in his young life. I believe he will unite Zambia and move it forward to greater accomplishments. I intend to write to him very soon and give him ideas on how to build Zambia. For Example, I believe Zambia can become an economic hub for the region by building modern oil refineries in strategic locations. anyway, let me not say too much here.
How can a chief be mistaken for a criminal? UPND has simply conceded that it is a violent party no wonder it has the same people voting for it. Come 2016 UPND will be humiliated again as it is a party which is on a downward trajectory.
Violence must be stopped and perpetrators made to account.

Last week the office of the constitution draft committee was broken into as well. Documents and laptops were taken. This week they broke into RDA offices and stole huge sums of money and documents.

The big question to be answered is, why take documents as well? Real thieves just steal valuables not documents.

Edward Musonda, has challenged all those questioning HH ‘s candidacy as UPND president to check the records in the public domain where they will find that HH was duly elected by 7 out of 9 provinces to lead UPND.
I don’t know when 7 provinces merged to become southern province. For sure, each province had an equal number of delegates to cast their vote.
Unlike PF where all those who wanted to oppose Sata were banned with their delegates from attending the convention. As a result Sata declared himself president and went ahead to appoint his stooges without letting the people elect them. The same happened when Mulenga Sata was elected Lusaka District chairman. His opponents were blocked from voting, and the opposer threatened to withdraw. PF is very undemocratic .

It is very interesting some UPND cadres have even gone to the extent of saying HH has been a better leader than the late Anderson Mazoka. Late A. Mazoka increased popularity of UPND from 0% to 27% in just 3 years while under 5(HH) in 5 years brought down the popularity of UPND from 27% to 18%.UPND lacks national appeal and has not leveraged on the new voter’s who have come on board and so their share of total votes will continue to decline.

How can a middle income country be classified as a poor country? Zambia is a middle income country with Gdp per capita of about $1, 600 but this may even be as high as $1,900 following the recent rebasing of our economy. Countries in Africa you can regard to be poor are the likes of Congo DR, Zimbabwe, Malawi etc. HH of UPND gives his farm workers as little as K250 per month as salaries when these farms generate a lot of revenue. No wonder his half brother(HH) stole a lot of his cattle and sold it because HH is simply mean.

Unless you say your interactions are only with the PF secretariats muma constituencies, then you cannot be believed. You need to stop deluding yourself. PF is hated. I have been on buses with a cross-section of people here on the Copperbelt and they do not like your party. Interact with the people who matter, not chaps with big bellies who are in the minority. UPND must not blame electorates outside southern province for not voting in their favour come 2016 because since 2006 UPND has always been bragging that the political landscape had shifted towards it. At least this year HH told his supporters that their numbers are not enough to win a national election. The truth of the matter is that UPND is not on the ground in other provinces like it is in southern province and come 2016 UPND will be behind both PF and MMD.

Cosmas Moono has admitted guilty of fanning violence in Mangango. What he has said concerning the cause of violence in Mangango is thrash. Police should be on him. If he was pursuing someone and that person sought refuge in his father’s house, could he beat his father and his mother for harbouring the person he was pursuing? PF won by 42% of the votes, which means 58% of the people disapproved of PF.
Actually PF got 30 % of the vote. The 12% extra came from the Tanzanians Kabimba and Sata imported to boost their support. It all out there Kabimba admitted doing that himself.

It was easy for PF to win in 2011 because even in the previous election they recorded an improvement in popularity from 29% to 38% unlike UPND which dropped from 25% to 19%.As more and more voter’s are shunning voting for UPND 2016 will leave the party again with only 1 stronghold(southern province).
