Vice President Guy Scott has said that Patriotic Front (PF) is against electoral violence and will not protect any person regardless of their party position.

In a telephone interview with ZNBC, Dr SCOTT reiterated that people involved in violence should be punished.

He said that no party including the PF stands to benefit from any violent acts hence his call that those involved must be dealt with by the law.

Dr SCOTT also said that allegation by the UPND president HAKAINDE HICHILEMA suggesting that the PF spearheading violence is false.

He also said that the call by the ECZ for the top leadership of all parties taking part in the mangango to condemn violence is timely and should be embraced by all.

And MMD NATIONAL SECRETARY MUHABI LUNGU says there is no justification for the use of violence in the Mangango by suspected cadres.

Mr LUNGU said that the violence should immediately be stopped as it will scare away would voters.

He said that the MMD will not involve itself in violence but offer its message to the electorate.

Meanwhile, Three candidates have successfully filed in their nomination papers at old Mkushi Primary School ahead of the September 11 Mkushi South Parliamentary by-election.

The filing in of nominations, which begun at 09-00 hours in the morning, is expected to close at 15:00 hours this afternoon.

Meanwhile, Vice President, Guy Scott, who was welcomed by a massive crowd at old Mkushi Primary School ground aboard a helicopter, is in Mkushi to drum up support for the PF candidate, Davis Chisopa.

Dr Scott, who was accompanied by Home Affairs Ministe, Ngosa Syimbyakula, was welcomed by both senior government and PF party officials.

All the three candidates have expressed confidence of scooping the Mkushi Parliamentary seat, declaring themselves ready for the political battle.

The seat fell vacant after the Supreme Court ruled against the election of former MP MMD’s Sydney Chisanga on grounds of alleged electoral mal-practices.

The Mkushi constituency has a total of 12,793 voters.

  1. Mr. Scott, please start with the obvious, Mwaliteta is on govt salary financed by tax payers and has been camped in Mangango for over 2 weeks. He has also been using other govt resources such as cars and drivers. I will be the first on eto praise you once you do the right thing…..stop Obvious Mwaliteta from abusing the electoral code of conduct!

    • Well said.

The people have been wisened by Donchi Kubeba and come polling day, they will deliver for the deserving candidate and backing party. Zambians are no longer easily deceived let alone bribed; Sata taught them a rough ’90 days’ lesson.

  2. PF has helicopter?? Why use government resources in campaigns, that what brought violence in Mangango, because Mwalita was found changing GRZ number on vehicles.

    • Finding that someone is using GRZ vehicle is not justification for primitive behaviour. Political violence is not acceptable under any circumstances and should be condemed.

  3. If Scot does not believe that PF cadres are involved in violence, then his statement is not genuine.

  4. Wrong, Mr Scotty! Violence benefits the ruling party because the Police arrest only opposition party members regardless of who’s responsible for the violence.
Because of this, ruling party members always start the violence knowing they’re untouchable.

    • Please read what this stands for. This is a statement you can hold a speaker by. He has denounced violence and in regards to his party. What else can one be commended for? His party members are probably complaining about this because they think they would be! It is brave to make such a statement and we want to hear more of this! Would you not?

  5. @Nostradamus
Vice president under the curerent constitution is allowed to use goverment resources whenever there is a by-election.
