Justice Minister Edgar Lungu has clarified that Wynter Kabimba lost his nomination as Member of Parliament when he was sacked as Justice Minister.

Mr Lungu revealed that Mr Kabimba’s letter of revocation clearly stated that he will no longer hold the position of Member of Parliament upon losing his ministerial position.
Some analysts including FODEP Executive Director McDonald Chipenzi had challenged State House to clear the air on whether Mr. Kabimba’s nomination to Parliament was also terminated.

Mr Chipenzi stated that the news statement issued by State House announcing Mr Kabimba’s sacking did not refer to the issue of his stay in Parliament adding that it was not automatic that one’s nomination as MP is terminated once they lose a ministerial position.
But Mr Lungu has clarified that Mr Kabimba lost all positions when he was fired.

“He is no longer in Parliament because his appointment as Minister of Justice was revoked. What interest is he going to be serving Parliament because I have been appointed to do his job as Minister of Justice and he does not need to there (Parliament)?”

Mr Lungu added, “The letter of revocation to my friend was clear and it was copied to the Speaker, so reference to that we can automatically say that he lost his nomination when he was sacked.”

    • Edgar Lungu even though you are watching Zambia vs Mozambique with a brown bottle, please be fair to your friend Kabimba by using cool language. Not “sacked”. Kabimba was relieved of …. He didn’t do anything wrong, Kabimba is simply a naturally wrong man. Efyo aba fye.

    • nostradamas, where has Lungu used the word sacked. from the article, the sacked word is used by the reporter and not lungu. in case namulaba akasungu mdala, the exact words used by the person are usually put in quotation marks ” “, as direct reported speech, hence a quote. in this case lungu is consistent with the root word revoke. Its the report or author of this article who has used sacked!!!

    • As for you Mr.Lungu, you wonder whose interest he could have served had not his termination of employment included the nomination as MP, well for one the president or indeed the party as the president saw fit. I mean he is still PF and the president could have thought i need an MP for my numbers in parliament and i want Wynter to be that MP, that is the presidents prerogative. He can even nominate Kaseba if he so wishes, its his right. that’s why we want a new constitution which will address all these issues which give the president such enormous powers even affecting debate in parliament by virtue of nominating any 5 people he feels can represent his/her interests in parley should he/she,the president, be an inconsiderate and overbearing person.

    • Iwe @Zagaze who told you that I am good at English? Akunwa fye ubwalwa iwe, ifwe nabena Lungu natukolwa kale, but the Chipolopolo useless.

    • @Nostradamus
how can Zambia draw with Mozambique pa home??… was Wynter watching that match also?? i suspect wynter did something,,,,, awe!! this bad lucky is too much,,Zambia needs some cleansing!!,

    • Chipenzi sure,as old as you are you don’t know grade 8 work.a nominated member of parliament seizes to be a member once sacked or his position is revoked.maybe you wanted to be covered by the media@ you are a concerned ignorant VIP (very improved peasant)

  1. Too bad for Wynter. Meembe should assist his friend with a job as Company Secretary. Wynter must be missing the times when he was acting president. His motorcade was bigger than that of President Sata. Surely power is sweet.

    • Zambia lost match in Ndola because Sata is out of hibernation The nation is tense again, even people who bought tickets didn’t go to watch the match. Zambia is well-off with out Sata and Kabimba in the streets.

  2. mr lungu is a lawyer, my guess is there is no room for speculations, kabimba has no purpose to serve in parley, neither in Gvrnmt…

I can’t get u please state the promise the PF have failed to fulfil and state what promises ur upnd mp have fulfilled apart from them been voted through tribalism and blocking GRZ developmental programmes in sp. Facts if the PF have not fulfilled some of the promises u are insinuating, they have 2year to fulfil them and come 2016 I don’t think u and minions u will open up ur stinking mouth to criticise the PF Government again, but I’m pretty sure u will come-up with something else to talk about against PF, because lowliness is what you are upnd, please mark my word hh will never be a president of this country called Zambia unless southern province- kojata ngombe kamusankwa!!!! continue cheating urselves cos of by election wining.

    • @ simplesy

You must be suffering from dementia.

By the way, how you manage to connect UPND with Kabimba and PF broken promises?

Heavy touch of acute paranoia or just realization that PF democratic credentials are in disarray?

  3. Very Clear sir . Compare this with the waffle from Guy Scot. As leader of government business in the house, Guy Scott should have been the first to know , and if he wasnt sure he should have found out immediately Wynter was fired. The fact that he did not bother to confirm, but has gone on to issue a vague statement clearly shows that he preferred uncertainity – which , from his statement, he wanted to have resolved in favour of Wynter ; otherwise why would he go on saying that being relieved of ministerial position does not automatically entail removal of an appointed MP from the house ? Just reading between the lines.

  4. Edgar Lungu for Vice President!
Scotty is confusing us! How much effort would it have taken our Scott; to call Edgar or the Speaker to clarify this matter, before giving his rumbling press statement? Guy Scott is very ‘naughty.’ He likes to antagonise Zambian citizens. A very colonial pastime! Ms Luo should send Scott to the UK to collect our Broken Hill Man for our Kabwe museum. Or better, President Sata, should appoint him to the role of ‘Colonial Artefacts Retriever’ a role specially made for him. That should keep him busy for a very long time!

    • @PA,
Why not just lay claim to the Broken Hill Man and leave him in London so we can collect more royalties from the countless visitors there than will be possible in Zambia. It will take a while before Kabwe town attains the same visitors as London
by which time the BHM relic will have suffered a lot of neglect …

  5. And inevitable and expected end for politicians who are naïve to the reality of Bemba tribalism. Until they learn to accept that reality, many more now playing the ostrich are fated to a similar bitter end. For Wynter Kabimba, that unfortunately, is the reward he gets for all his contribution to Mr. Sata’s presidential glory.

  6. Edgar lungu ‘s way of handling national matters is within the world view of democracy, but for Scott much is desired,it will be good to show him the exit quickly.

  7. FODEP and other toothless organisations, stop flogging a dead horse. Wynter is a powerful, unspent force for those of you who don’t know it. He’ll soon bounce back to greater heights.
He’s reflecting and as you all know by now, our president is a genius. He had to keep Wynter safe for the time being. There’s more to this than any of you dimwit dunderheads know. This is how we’re making sure that PF is here to stay. Long live MCS, Lungu, Wynter, PF.
LT, on to other topics now!

    • #Kudos!
I agree with Kudos u are 100% right, no objection Sir let them yap until no more they be surprised cos they don’t know what is on the other side of the hall.

    • In whose interest will it be to continue keeping Wynter in Parliament. That nomination will be well utilised on people like Ngandu Magande that may add value to this government.

      Definately not an unelectable twart.

  8. Sometimes I think that some people in government don’t deserve to be where they are. Guy Scot a PHD holder can’t use his common sense that Winter was in Parliament because He was an appointed Minister like CHIKWANDA even though they don’t have any constituency they represent in parliament. Its different from the like of Lubinda, masebo, GBM because those have constituencies they represent. Even when they lost their ministerial positions the didn’t lose there positions in parliament. The likes of Chikwanda, Kasonde and the Late Summer Kabimbwa went in Parliament because of there ministerial appointment once they lose it its automatic that’s they lose there seat in parliament. Uncle BUZZY IS RIGHT on this one.

  9. Put your trust in God. The bible is very clear. Kabimba put his trust in Sata. All three positions were by appointment. What kind of dependence is this? That is why he was praising Sata so that he cab still be sustained but that never materialised. You cannot claim to have power yourself when all was by appointment. Let this be a lesson to all politicians.

    • The hand of God shall strike soon.we cant be used and thrown out like condoms by these Tribalists.I can hear the sounds of drums growing louder bit by bit from the Kaleni hills in north western down south to shows of lake Kariba and from the Barotse plains in the west up to hills of the Muchinga .Yes the sounds of liberation and freedom .A fair distribution of mineral resources and jobs in Zambia. The kaondes the Bundas ,Tongas Luvales ,Namwangas ,Mambwes ,Nyikas ,Tumbukas all so called inferior tribes will be liberated through HH,the great equalizer.

  10. Mr. Lungu is lying let him produce the letter of wynter’s dismissal. Parliament sought clarification from H.E and he told the clerk that he has not revoked wynter’s nomination and he shall continue as an MP. Some one should educate Mr. Lungu that if u are nominated u automatically lose yo ministerial position if yo nomination is revoked and u don’t not lose yo nomination if u are sacked as minister unless so stated. Let the drunken master not mislead the public, let him seek clarification from the president as wynter’s appointing authority and parliament.

    • You wish. As far as the PF is concerned Wynter is history, never was. Glad to note politicians that matter and electable like GBM, Given Lubinda getting back into the PF core family again.

The devil has been shamed indeed.

  11. So Sata found it fit to copy the letter to Lungu and the Speaker and not to his VP who also happens to be the leader of parliamentary affairs and did not even bother to verbally tell him? What a working relationship! Not even a head teacher can suspend a sweeper in his school without telling his teachers let alone his deputy. It does not add up that Scot is ignorant and yet Lungu knows when Lungu is answerable to Scot. Its only in PF- anyway in Zambia anything goes because Zambians have chosen very low standards for themselves..

  12. Ha! So he DID get his letter of revocation after all. There has been widespread speculation that he is being treated the way he treated Lubinda. So he has been treated much better after all. Case closed. Finish and klar!

  13. The PF SG and Minister of Justice has justified everything, whose interest will Wynter be Saving in Parliament? He went their because of the Minister of Justice title, Ministers in Zambia are appointed from MPs thus why in the Draft Constitution it is suggested otherwise. Wynter should have struggled to be an MP in the 2011 PF popular areas but instead he was trying his Village near Mumbwa (Biggest Mistake he ever made)). Given and GBM were stronger than Wynter because they were Elected by the People in the Constituency and not nominated by President.
This applies to HH as well being popular in SP and his traditional Cousins Areas will never make him Republican President let him change Strategy and Face CB, LSK and CP.
    Cheers

  14. KABIMBA’S PRAYER: Oh Thou HEMCS, may thy tribal kingdom increase. May thou deal with me as TREACHEROUSLY even as Brutus was treacherous to Caesar. For thine is the Government, the Party and Parliament till we meet again in 2016!

    • And now from his Facebook page, HEMCS uncharacteristically responds: Oh thou Witty WK, need I remind you that unlike Zeus, the Greek god of the sky who treacherously killed his father Cronus, your mission, unaccomplished, must remain aborted. You are forthwith banished from my party and government, till the day Hades emerges from the underworld.

    • What a gloomy foreboding this is for both these men! But it is one neither is able to retreat from. It could be a mark an ominous end for both of them.

  15. …..Lungu is just trying to save govt’s face from embarrassment. Knowing that as a general public we may not have access to that ‘letter’ of termination to see the wording…….
The nomination and the appointment are two distinct portfolios….one receives two separate letters. When the appointment is made, the president first pronounces the nomination part(MP) and then the ministerial. Same when disappointing, he first revokes the nomination and the ministerial appointment automatically falls away…..
Why the speculations..?? its because something was amiss…

    • In whose interest will it be to continue keeping Wynter in Parliament. That nomination will be well utilised on people like Ngandu Magande that may add value to this government.

      Definately not an unelectable twart.

  16. Lungu saying Wynter is ‘automatically’ not MP simply means there is no letter. In true PF fashion a letter will typed on monday back-dated to the fired date.

  17. Thank you Ba Hon. Edgar Lungu, the Minister of Justice, for clarifying our mystery. So the matter has been laid to rest. President Sata did not administer an ‘induced comma’ on Wynter Kabimba, but that HE President Sata just allowed Kabimba’s life to expire through a natural process. HE the President cannot be accused of having switched off the life-support machine. We wish Kabimba to experience an interesting life in Hell.

  18. KABIMBA WAS SO HAPPY WHEN GBM AND GIVEN LUBINDA WERE SUCKED, WITH THEM ATLEAST THEY CAN STILL ATTEND TO PARLIAMENTARY PROCEEDINGS. WIN A CONSTITUENCY FIRST. THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH HON. LUNGU’S LANGUAGE, HE IS PERFORMING HIS DUTIES.
