Nkana turned on the style with a second half blitz to beat hosts Konkola Mine Police 3-2 away at Konkola Stadium in Chililabombwe.
The defending champions’ victory moved them up from 5th to 4th place on 42 points, eight behind leaders Zanaco.
However, it was Mine Police who held the cards in the first half in which they took a deserved 2-0 lead thanks to headed-in goals by Ronald Chibwe and Felix Simukonda in the 14th and 24th minutes respectively.
But Mine Police failed to stay above the water and were punished by a resolute Nkana.
Nkana’s comeback began in stylish fashion in the 51st minute when defender Maybin Chishimba whipped in a mind-blowing parabolic shot from the edge of the toughline that sailed high over and the head of Mine Police goalkeeper Evans Chewe.
Ronald Kampamba equalised in the 56th minute and two minutes later Nkana celebrated a goal that never was.
Donashano Malama hurled a trademark throw-in straight in that failed to touch a single player on its way into Mine Police’s goal.
The goal was rightly erased but surprisingly much to heated protest by the Nkana bench and players who were surely aware of that law.
Meanwhile, Festus Mbewe legitimately headed in the winner in the 78th minute when he met Noel Phiri’s cross to hand Nkana a vital win in their battle to defend their crown.

“FAVOUR YABA YAWE
12 TIMES CHAMPION”
There you are again.. How Nkana taught Mine police a footballing lesson when Nkana came from behind out of luck like Leicester city against Manchester united and the margine is just 1 goal difference???
There was no Noel Phiri in Nkana’s Line-up and yet he provided an assist.
Check your facts before misleading us.
This game, and the earlier game between Nchanga Rangers and NAPSA Stars were more interesting than all the English Premier League games of the weekend put together (of course except the game between the Foxes and the Red Devils at the King Power)!!!
