Vice President Guy Scott says the recently released report by the Food and Agriculture Organisation that Zambia was the most undernourished country in Africa is inaccurate.
Dr Scott said the report was not factual and does not represent the happenings on the ground.
He said the measurement they used to determine the nutritional profiles of some people in Zambia was wrong.
Dr Scott observed that some Zambians are just small people which he said does not translate into being undernourished.
“You see, Zambia is not all about the Bantu Botatwe people. Zambia is a mixture of people from different parts of the continent including the Pygmies or Bushmen. We have people in Zambia whose ancestors were Bushmen and they are small people, some of them live in and around The Bangweulu swamps,” Dr Scott said.
He added, “ So if these people from London come to do research on malnutrition and they see a 45 year of man looking like he is 10 years old, they quickly conclude that he is malnourished but that 45 year old man can run faster than a Lion.”
Dr Scot said there are a number of countries in Africa that are struggling with issues of undernourishment and Zambia does not rank among them.
“We need to be careful with these people coming here and telling us that we are undernourished. Sometimes they used defective tools of research and we should not pay attention.”
Rome based, the Food and Agriculture Organisation recently issued the State of World Insecurity Report which showed that Zambia has the highest number of undernourished people in Africa and second in the world with Haiti on the top spot.
Go and read the post! guns blazing!,,,,, PF gave mmembe too much leeway, the guy has fingers and legs into OP,,, coming up with a phone recording of chikwanda!!!!,,,, its like a story of bandits(PF and the post), who robbbed a bank together,,, midway on the run, they start fighting amongst themselves!!!,,, barman put my beers ku bottom ya fridge,,,, am coming after 17;00hrs
To be fair all major sports if you look at them and Zambians, we look like dwarfs
I have always wondered why we don’t ban that stipple rounded hard porridge you call Nshima
How on earth does one eat that all the time and expect to not be undernourished?
Whites don’t eat Nshima, neother do Asians, why stick to it?
Ban it and propose, rice, Potatoes.
Thanks
for the first time @mushota you got the correct answer;;; one plus box equals two,,,,,,, class clap for mushota from group 3,,,,,keep it up mushota!!!,, you will move to group two soon!!
And this Scott is vice president! My foot! he should know that the report controls for such factors otherwise the Vietnamese or Malaysians would have topped the list. i just read on ZWD that Pf have no clue on how to tackle undernourishment and this response from Scott just proves UPND right.
Kekekekekeke but Bashi Charlotte is fun, just like his friend Sata. Ati “…the researchers have defect tools, and when tourists look at Masumba and Katema they conclude that Zambians are undernourished”.
This is the problem we have in Zambia, every now and then we expect politicians to solve our problems. As much as I do not agree with the report, Guy is also misleading us or probably he just does not understand how the research was conducted. It is a pity this lunatic even commented on this issue. Zambians are not the smallest or shortest people in the world and that is not one of the criteria used to determined undernourishment of people for crying out loud!
@Ndobo, why you promoting The Post Newspaper?
Anyway, I went there, haahahahahaha naiwama. M’membe is now praising BaShikulu Ba Chikwanda, it is clear: CHIKWANDA has his morals and ethics in right place.
You see, Zambia is not all about the Bantu Botatwe people. Zambia is a mixture of people from different parts of the continent including the Pygmies or Bushmen….
And the statement above? What is it between Scott and the Bantu Botatwe? He really has an issue with this group of people. Now he is slamming the the blame on people of Luapula on the report by FAO. Does he mean 45% of the people in Luapula are busmen? this man must watch his mouth.
how can scott understand the pain of poor zambians who cannot afford to buy proper food for their family. the only thing this white man knows is to sell our companies to international investors who are smuggling resources out of our country at a cheap price and selling them abroad at 200% profit. these indians and whites own our country people. they are all soo much wealthier than us. why are we allowing this my friends?
Don’t go far, This is concrete and pure evidence that skin colour harbours no form of intelligence genes, but its selective to the human race despite of colour. Fortunately for the lighter they have lived privileged. Yahaha
@Mushota, you have farted again. Ever heard of Polenta? Exactly what you eat in Zambia is eaten by Italian, but called Polenta. You “is” too ignorant. However, I am not defending the nutritional content but informing you that other societies in the west diet on this same menu. Only difference is that, you have it daily, while your friends have alternatives.
Lions? Sometimes I’m sure I made the right decision to live away.

Guy Scott,, please only open your mouth when you have facts: the truth hurts – How many times have we read about husbands or Wives beating the spouse to death over Nshima. FAO RESEACRHED and indeed there is adult malnutrition in ZED – & children are the hardest hit.
VP should instead be addressing himself to a blue print to end hunger in ZED.
What is ZED, where is ZED is it an NGO or political party?
The vice president has missed the point, you can be fat but still be malnourished. The average Zambian can afford a balanced diet. The fact that one is able to have a kg of nshima with katapa daily doesn’t translates into them having a balance diet.

Naiwe ba Mushota imitontonkanishishe yenu awe sure, you always think like you are not from planet Earth. Guy is right on this one, height of a person does not matter but what matters is how that person is fed.
Mushota the problem you have is that you hate zambia so much that you always talk sh!t. Akupipa abakote ukokwine waba ku Glasgow but inshiku shikakubwesha tutakotobe.
And this Scott is vice president! My foot! he should know that the report controls for such factors otherwise the Vietnamese or Malaysians would have topped the list. i just read on ZWD that Pf have no clue on how to tackle undernourishment and this response from Scott just proves UPND right.
Its unbelievable that a Vice President can stand on an anthill to dispute data from research without new data to counter what FAO has published. Is he really a Doctor, of what?
Mr. Scott, what are your facts to the contrary?
In order to refute an argument or the facts contained in a particular report, you must be able to articulate a counter argument. Show what your facts are that contradict those in the report. As at now, the only certainty is that we don’t know. The vice-president does not seem to know either. At best he is only hallucinating . Chances are the whole PF government has no facts to the contrary. That alone is disgraceful enough.
I don’t care what hoodlums like Mushota think, but I totally agree with the Vice-President on this one!
He says zambians are small people apart from the Tongas, this is an insult
Zambia is always at the short end of every negative assumption but in this case FAO is so correct. I mean we should have got used to this state of affairs, because year in year out it’s the same disparaging results and what’s more physical evidence stares us in the face everyday. 85% of the population lives below the breadline. Is that inspiring? What’s sad successive Zambian govts from UNIP to PF and possibly beyond haven’t an idea how to lift people out of this social and economic quagmire.
That is essentially the point. A larger section of the population may be malnourished, not because there is no enough food in Zambia per se, but purely because they can’t afford to buy good quality food. It’s nshima and what type of relish is that, day in and day out. That is starvation for sure.
As for the other countries some people on this blog have identified to be malnourished just as much, well check first the type of food people in those countries eat. They may be poorer but still be better nourished, depending on the kind of food that constitutes their diet.
this must be an interesting report to look at. is this report inclusive of all the countries in the world or it is a stand alone one?
@mushota, u ar a ” dull dog” and worth being in UP AND DOWN PARTY. Your thinking is below par. I feel you are lying to us ova the PHD studz jst lik HH LIES TO Mutinta being first lady. Scott is right, we can’t be 1. In africa, wat of war-torn countries.e.g. Sudan
You are not travelled and do not read too. In Sudan, there is money, hard currency, which young boys age 15 move around with in 1000s of $s. How can you compare Zambia to Sudan!! The presence of war over the years should be enough to inform you that there is something precious and valuable which the warring factions are fighting for – control of natural resources. And before I forget, the absence of war in a country does not always mean the presence of peace. I hope you understand.
this report is completely useless .go to sudan ,Syria ,Ruanda Zimbabwe ,Haiti and see how people are suffering .
You may be right. But do you have the facts to prove your point? Malawi is relatively poorer than Zambia in as far as GDP is concerned. And yet, that country has a much higher human development index than that of Zambia. Why? Mainly because in Zambia, wealth is too much concentrated in the hands of a few individuals, while the majority of Zambians wallow in unimaginable abject poverty.
@Mei Mutungu Malawi scores lower than Zambia in Human Development. just google the latest report Human Development Report. Zambia scores higher than countries like Nigeria, Kenya and Zimbabwe.
We dont need ths news.
We want Mmembe Vs Chikwanda.
pyeee pyeeee the referee has blown the whistle.
Lets see the looser !!!
Scott has no empirical, primary or secondary evidence to refute the evidence from FAO but uses political language to dispute facts. What a doctor! Evidence DR Guy SCOTT, not rhetoric.
Thanks for pointing that out.
What is this moron Kashikoti saying about the people of the Bangweulu swamps. The jokes about them being dwarfs but able to run faster than a lion are just an insult. When is this guy going to stop putting his foot in it every time he opens his mouth.
Are Peter Machungwa and Emerine Kabanshi the shortest people in Zambia. OK, I am off to Kasoma, Kalima Nkonde, Nsamba, Bwalya Mponda to explain to them what a joke they appear to Scot. Emerine Kabanshi, you have to react to this, otherwise sooner or later the people will find out what a traitor you are!!
You can say that again.
Styupid saying by Zimbabweans
Scott has malnutrition of the worst kind-his small brain hold very little grey matter.
Spot on Vip, what’s in rice that is not in nshima? We r just different from white so r Asians in structure. Whites get wrinkles early in life we don’t and how is that not a problem?
This Dr must have a fake degree. This must be those given by CBU and the Zim universities; to politicians so that they get funding. Now I understand why Satan can’t leave him to act as President- ‘muzungu wopusa. Just like Mushota in Scotland, this muzungu should work at old peoples home and not at Plot 2.
In Zambia na ba Zungu nabeve nibofunta lol. little nutrition not hunger vice president guy scott lol.
Well, if you have been to Luapula, Northern and North-Western Provinces then you will believe that our people are under-nourished. The food that people eat in these provinces lack the required body nutrients. Have you even seen a big person in Luapula, or a big goat, chicken, or cow? Scott is right. Not all Zambians are tall, handsome and beautiful, well-nourished, nice smooth skin like the Bantu Botatwe.
For sure……its embarrassing. I ve seen VERY SHOT TRIBESMEN where at times I would feel like CRYING !!!
Tht hieght is embarrassing. Let them starting MABISI LIKE Tongas maybe they will b nourished !!!
Continue burying your head in the sand Guy Scott You will soon be sharing experiences with Rupiah analyzing where you went wrong!
If you are well travelled, you surely know that this report is not true. Though I have my own challenges with what Guy Scott normally says, the man is right. There was also another report some months ago which said Zambia was the poorest country in the world. Which ever tools or metrics they may use, a well travelled and knowledgeable brain knows that that is far from the truth. But with the level of ignorance in Zambia which is even higher than the exchange rate, I expect such attacks on the Vice President.
Please enlighten us since you are well traveled. What countries have you traveled to that are much poorer or under-nourished than Zambia?
It is advisable to conduct a comprehensive survey under auspices of National Food and Nutrition Commission. If possible, some countries in the region could also get involved. The hot air did a lot of damage to the good image of the nation.
