Former local government deputy minister Moses Muteteka

CHISAMBA Member of Parliament Moses Muteteka has walked out of prison after being granted a free bail.

Lusaka high court judge Betty Mung’omba granted bail to Muteteka who is former local government minister yesterday.

Muteteka whose five year jail sentence was upheld by the high court for theft of a motor vehicle was granted bail in his own recognizance.

Ms justice Mung,omba said Muteteka disclosed exceptional circumstances to warrant the granting of bail.

The Lusaka magistrate court jailed Muteteka for theft of a motor vehicle belonging to Chibombo district council.

Muteteka has since appealed to the Supreme Court against the decision of the high court to uphold the conviction and sentence by the high court

  1. I though we only had one convict MP. When was this man convicted? People made a lot of noise about Masumba suggesting he should relinguish his parliamentary seat, what about this one?

  2. He is very influencia in chisamba.. lts either the membe group wants to use him or pf for the next election. Rest in peace MR President.

  3. The problem in Zambia is, if the Judiciary is not Politically Compromised- (Government Rubber Stamp), then be rest assured it is CORRUPT!!!
    This Reeks of Corruption, & that “Belly Judge” should hang Her head in SHAME!

  4. This is very strange. How can a man on motor vehicle theft or simply dishonest behavior be described as very influential? Why do we worship people who steal from us?

  5. Surely, it pays to be rich. Poor people are jailed for many years for committing simple offences like stealing a chicken. Only God’s judgement is just.

  6. Ba Muteteka sure mukwabo, why did u steal from yo pipo? Yo testimony was jst a fable,that u exchanged vehicles one for the Council and one for u bot by govt funds, worse still u registered both vehicles into yo names, lawmaker u persevere for wat? very bad selfish leader. 7years was better.
