The loss of about 27 of our dear brothers, sisters and children people on the Mbala- Nakonde Road in the Northern Province on Saturday is yet another tragedy to the nation.

On behalf of the UPND and indeed on my own behalf, I join the rest of the country in mourning our departed Zambians.

It is a horrific and needless way to loss so may lives in a manner that could probably have been prevented.

My heart bleeds to see the lives of our people being lost in that manner and I call on the authorities to thoroughly investigate the matter.

It also calls into question the work of the police at those checkpoint if they could allow an over-loaded small truck but with close to 100 passengers.

My prayers go to all the families that have lost their loved ones

Hakainde Hichilema
UPND-President

  5. …..for unknown reasons, Zambia is a nation that is divided on ‘tribal’ lines.
    Am tumbuka and i don’t have a problem with the next president coming from Luvale land;
    as long as the Zambian majority are subjected to good governance, balanced economy and corruption free and reduced
    nepotism.

  6. This just shows how governance has broken down in Zambia. how do you allow close to 100 people on a truck? Just shows that their is no government. Where is the transport regulatory institution?
