Matero Member of Parliament Miles Sampa has officially withdrawn from contesting the PF presidency.Mr Sampa said that he had been motivated to stand because he believed time had come for fresh leadership but has now decided to withdraw to abet the chaos and divisions in the Patriotic Front party.
Media reports suggest that several of Miles Sampa’s supporters were yesterday battered by police when they tried to complain about the ongoing delegates’ registration which has been manipulated and filled with Edgar Lungu’s supporters.Acting President Guy Scott yesterday temporarily suspended registration of delegates to the PF General Conference.Dr Scott said this followed an illegal takeover of the process by unknown persons in Lusaka.
He has since declared all credentials already processed as null and void and that they will not be used for entrance into Mulungushi Rock of Authority in Kabwe.

After much reflection and the crossroad that PF has found itself in; the last few weeks have been full of trials and tribulations. However, the defining moments of the PF will not be the recent events but how we leave the General conference in Kabwe. I wish to offer myself as part of the solution to abetting chaos and division in the party so we remain a united front. Consequently, I wish to formally announce my withdrawal as a candidate in the party Presidential race. I will support and work with any of the remaining candidates that will be elected by party officials. The campaign trail was fulfilling and worthwhile but it’s now time to look ahead.
I apologize to all the delegates and people that found hope in me. Let us remain peaceful and keep the faith.

If PF make a mistake of making Kaseba president, then they will diminish their share of vote due the fact Zambians now dislike anything associated with Sata. So voting for Kaseba will be like bringing back Sata ‘s lies back to life.
If PF is truly serious about this by election, they should try Lungu, may be he will manage to get more votes for them.

I can safely say that options for the cartel are running thin. The influence they thought they had has evaporated and it appears that Sampa and Kaseba were too sucked into the M’membe-Sata convenant they believed that that is the only ticket one required.
But people, including some PF ranks (Lungu camp) are appalled by the M’membe machinations and want to breakaway. We shall hear complaints of harassment, beatings and threats of violence, but these are nothing but lame excuses from the cartel.
After all, violence and confusion is home ground for the PF. The entire PF Police Force is there and waiting for “instructions” to coil or allow the use of pangas.

Very wise and sensible move. Three things here to note:
1. Mama Kaseba-Sata is the only one remaining who can make PF win
2, Even if Lungu May have support at party level, at national level, the current constitution does not provide for one with parents for example, born in Malawi.
3. GBM could get votes from Lusaka and Nonorthern provinces but may be tricky from other provinces. Bashing Nono and the remaining aspirants are far below persons with presidential qualities.

The propensity of Zambians to pick misfits as leaders is baffling. How on earth people see presidential quality in Edgar Lungu is just completely beyond me. What can they possibly see that I can not? In all honesty, I just can not find anything that would remotely give credence to this man’s aspirations. I don’t see him as a man with a vision or a sense of direction. He is dull and uninteresting and a known alcoholic.What is there to like?
We like that he is boring and has no ‘obstructive’ personality. After Sata’s spite fire personality, it is imperative we have a calmer period in the next 2 years. That means he will concentrate on the job at hand, continuing the current PF programmes as envisioned by Sata.
