Mayuka stays at Southampton

Share

The January British transfer window closed on Monday night with Chipolopolo striker Emmanuel Mayuka staying at Premier League side Southampton.

It was expected that Southampton would send Mayuka on loan as the player has failed to break into the best 11 since joining the Saints on a five-year deal from Young Boys in August 2012.

Despite scoring 32 goals in two seasons at Young Boys Mayuka has only managed score one goal for Southampton.

The striker spent the 2013-2014 season on loan at French side Sochaux after failing to command a place in the Southampton starting line up in his debut season at the club.

Mayuka does not seem to be in coach Ronald Koeman’s plan.

When releasing the striker early for the 2015 Africa Cup, Koeman said:”Mayuka will go now this weekend because we have more players available in that position.”

Meanwhile, Mayuka scored one of Zambia’s two goals at the AFCON as Chipolopolo exited the tounament without a single win and finished bottom of Group B with two points.

  1. Such a useless player. He makes runs on the field like a headless chicken. Doesn’t know how to position himself in front of goal

    • Only GOD has the final say.
He was our HERO a couple of years back when Zambia had it’s first ever AFCON.GOD still has BIG plans for the young man.He needs the support of all well meaning Zambians to get his form back.Emmanuel!

  2. Please release that boy so that he can atleast play in competitive games not only competing in training sessions; thats why the boy cant perform at national level. why are you holding on to him?

  3. O yes it must be news. Otherwise he shouldn’t even be playing in any team. The boy is a let down. The case of mayuka is a common mentality among Zambians. he has lost interest in football because of money. when Neymar is playing you can see the love of what he is doing.

  4. I had a lot of faith in Mayuka when he was at my boyhood club KWFC and knew he would go far. Far he has gone (at the south coast of England!), but his performance both at the Saints and Chipolopolo leaves much to be desired.

I watched one game he played for the Saints were his positioning was so poor his playmate could not pass the ball to him…either he was behind a defender or ran far close to the byline he had no chance to score..

    I wish him luck, though

  5. Hahahaha!!!! ba zemuntu how do you tel your friend like that” at running like a headless chicken on the football pitch” yaba

  6. Ni Mayuka wa nyoko for you to insult him? Alteast he has tasted the English and French league and was part of the team that lifted the Africa Cup in 2012 and he has made a bit of money. What about your brothers you silly chaps insulting Mayuka? Do they play soccer or sell mishanga?

  7. This is what happens when you lie about your age but don’t change your diet. ..tell the truth and your dietian will prepare the right diet for a 32 year old.

  8. Don’t insult mayuka you guys criticize everything why? Mayuka has done a lot remember 2012 Africa cup of nation everybody was happy. English premier league is very difficult to play because they have got their own system skin also it matters . You know this white people there difficult to dominate. Thank

  9. Mayuka is not a good striker. He missed a lot of chances that even a defender would have scored. Look at how he injured himself? He missed the ball stretching his legs ne bolo lyalepuka, atase!

  10. Reading most of the posts posted .I can say that most of Zambians luck motivation. You can not motivate anyone if you can not motivate yourself. Hence most of the post says that Mayuka is finished forever.
Give the boy chance Is just has been there for a short time.
