Foreign Affairs Permanent Secretary, George Zulu, has dismissed allegations that former Ministry of Information and Broadcasting Services (MIBS) Permanent Secretary, Emmanuel Mwamba, has refused to be appointed in the Foreign Service.

Mr Zulu told ZANIS in an interview in Lusaka today that Mr Mwamba has accepted is position with pride.

Mr Zulu could, however, not state the country and the position he will be deployed, saying they are still working on logistics.

He said Mr Mwamba has already been served with a letter of appointment and he has accepted his position in writing.

Mr Zulu said Mr Mwamba has already started his diplomacy training at the Zambia Institute of Diplomacy Studies (ZIDIS).

He said Mr Mwamba and others who are going in the Foreign Service have been at the training school for a week now.

Mr Zulu said it is unfortunate that people are spreading rumours that Mr Mwamba has rejected the appointment when in fact not.

He said those spreading such rumours are enemies of progress who should not be listened to.

Mr Zulu said people must learn to speak the truth and not be in the habit of spreading rumours.

He said he is aware of the few that are spreading such rumours and the ministry is going to deal with them sternly.

Mr Zulu said he will not allow indiscipline in the country where people are allowed to tarnish the image of government.

    • I know I spoke to him personally. He accepted it with bitterness as he had no choice. He was told get it or leave it.

    • God bless Africa!!

Are you telling me that people have to be forced to do fast track courses in Diplomacy? The are appointed without the qualification instead of the other way around.

Mr Zulu are you telling me that there are no Graduates who have already passed through this Zambia Institute of Diplomacy Studies (ZIDIS) for you to pick from?

    • He really must have been katondo boys. Both were very vocal during the elections. Very Annoying if I might add. He was giving mushota a run for its money.

    • This strikes me as one of those stories where Mwamba has asked Zulu to talk to the media and say exactly what Zulu is saying.

Both have little to nothing to offer to the country for me. especially Mwamba

      Thanks

  1. There’s no smoke without fire…..the rumour was tulu afterall.

So why shouldn’t we believe the whole story about refusing since you are confirming the rumour about he being deployed in foreign service.

Ouch… Emmanuel Mwamba. It was true.

    • So they are still looking for a country which they do not respect that much. There is no way you can send such a useless and disrespectful person to a country that you respect.

    • Think Lungu is more concerned about being reminded about “who and how” he was assisted to ascend to power and “being held to ransom”. Politics.

    • @Pretty, when bloggers talk about your ECHI ECHI, you are very quick to respond and manifest your anger and bitterness and telling them to leave your ECHI ECHI alone. But in most of your comments you have nothing to contribute but to vomit bad comments about His Excellency the President of the Republic of Zambia Honorable Edgar Lungu. Leave our President alone or else bitterness yalakwipaya. Ifibantu fyaifi efipona mu toilet na BP.

  2. It seems ZWD is always two months ahead in news compared to others.others are only used to confirm what the DOGS reveal. Except they are uziless when it comes to blocking, aziright?

    • IT IS TRUE THAT SOMETIMES ZWD USED TO REPORT NEWS EARLIER THAN OTHERS. BUT THAT IS BECAUSE THEY BEHAVE LIKE RUMOUR MONGERS. EAVES DROPPING IN ORDER TO APPEAR TO BE RELEVANT TO THE NATION. BUT WHAT MATTERS IS THE DEPTH OF WHAT YOU REPORT. THE DEVIL IS IN THE DETAILS. ZWD REPORTS IN ORDER TO TARNISH PEOPLES NAMES . BUT OTHER NEWS CARRIERS REPORT IN ORDER TO INFORM, WELL-RESEARCHED ITEMS THAT EDIFY. EVEN WHEN THEY CRITICISE IT IS WELL THOUGHT AND ANALYZED.

  3. No. No one should be given a government position that the have no merit for. Sata’s era is over, these are Jubilee leaders. Move on to prosperity Zambia.

  5. Let him go abroad we are tired of this man he has been alarming the public on his Tumfweko.com site in his quest to land this job ati”HH is hospitalized at UTH”,HH breaks down upon hearing that UPND has been defeated, pesi this *****.

  6. Another well thought out plan by President Lungu, even though am watching him like an Eagle. He needs to send all media talking PF cadres to missions abroad. namely countries like Gabon and equitorial guinea. Not High profile nations like the US or Japan. We need Economists and technocrats in those strategic missions.

    • @Zambian Watchdog…. iyo mwandi ati Gambia.

I think I read either India or Malaysia

Anyway the three ryhme. All end in “IA”.

    • HES GOING TO MALAYSIA MWEBO UKUTALI NE MPANGA ,THIS MAN IS A SPOILER,NEXT IS MUHABI AND MULUSA .TO BE TOO VOCAL CIBI SANA OVERIDING OTHERS AS IF YOU KNOW TOO MUCH THAN OTHER .

ALALILA UYO CIKONKO MWIKATE MWAMBA WANTED BU NOMINATED MP .DISCARDED IN FOREIGN MISSION HE SHOULD HAVE GONE TO SOMALIA OR YEMEN

  7. Mwamba seems to have a propensity to attract headlines, perhaps this is what we need in our diplomatic service. The important thing is to make sure that he is deployed to a country where his noise making skills will actually bring attention to Zambia. Howmany of our current representatives effectively do this? We have trade and tourism attaches that do nothing but send emails and facebook posts all day. If I where Lungu I would have utilized Mwamba in a position like ZNTB and direct him to bring as much attention to Zambian tourism and tourism potential as possible. We have as much if not better tourism potential as Kenya yet no one is branding or marketing Zambia. We barely have an online brand and image.

  8. Go well Mr Mwamba you deserve it.Shortly you will be appointed PS or Minister, trust me.Some of you are enemies of the state you hate the majority i tell its the power of numbers you will suceed with your evil plans.Mr Mwamba really defended HE Lungu from the wolves in the sheep’s clothing.Viva PF

  9. Go well Mr Mwamba you deserve it.Shortly you will be appointed PS or Minister, trust me.Some of you are enemies of the state you hate the majority i tell its the power of numbers you will not succeed with your evil plans.Mr Mwamba really defended HE Lungu from the wolves in the sheep’s clothing.Viva PF

  10. South African tourism operators are making more money from visits to victoria Falls for instance than we are. Tourist fly in SA charter a plane in SA fly to Zambia visit the falls for 8 hours if we are lucky they spend some money on a meal and fly back to SA where they spend another 3 weeks game viewing and shopping and our operators are mare spectators on the sideline. What happened to “ZAMBIA THE REAL AFRICA” ZAMBIA UNDER THE SUN” ? and all our other marketing campaigns. PF is in charge and let them use thier skills and market our country.

  11. @loadist you are talking a load of rubbish. There is no longer ZNTB as this was rebranded to ZTB. So what rebranding are you on about? There are many ways of marketing Zambian tourism, and one of the successful ones is engaging journalists to travel to various destinations in exchange for features about Zambia in their local newspapers. Don’t criticise without facts. Yes we have a long way to go but a lot of milestones have been achieved, Yes we can do more but be proud that Zambia is a favourable destination under the new strap line ‘Zambia let’s explore’. Please let us proud Zambians revel in the peaceful election of our President EL and may HE continue to sell this beautiful, peaceful nation.

  12. @loadist as I have pointed out its ‘Zambia let’s explore” NOT ” Zambia in the sun”. Rebranding…but I guess you don’t have your facts. Sometimes it’s better to shut up than to show your ignorance.

  13. @returning citizen As you point out ZTB so I stand corrected because of a typo. The point remains not enough is being done. Zambian tourism marketing is not effective. If as Zambians we have hardly heard of the new strap line it just goes to show how ineffective the campaign is. Whats the point of marketing to ourselves in our own airports and not take that to the world? In my previous comment I did allude to the fact that Mwamba due to his ability to attract headlines might actually be an asset as an ambassador. We can’t sit idly by as our tourism industry is being extracted. Our government needs to market Zambia and our tourism both as a destination and investment sector. I hope our national representatives like Mwamba will become one can do this.

  14. Furthermore it is clear that our previous campaigns like the ones I mentioned were actually effective. We have country of great potential and our governments this far have not exploited that potential. All the way through the 80’s we were pigging banking on Zimbabwean regional marketing for our tourism. As soon as that started to fail we sank too. PF needs to exploit our beautiful country and market us. Even Malawi is doing better than we are in this sector. That I refuse to accept. We are better than that.

  15. President Lungu should consider also rewarding Good luck Jonathan and abenecho, they tirelessly supported him on Lusaka times and gave him the peoples choice amidst the kabwe show down

by providing a 65% to 35% win situation in actual figures and support for lungu, they made sure HH did not move the votes to blind Lungu

The figure posted were timely to ensure Lungus votes where laid bare and protected from being misrepresented to support HH and make him the favourite

They did a lot of work in that tabulation of national outlook in votes though apathy in turnout

Supported and confirmed lungu as Zambia’s favourite amidst hostile media and social opposition in favour of HH

  16. Sorrow looks back, worry lloks around and faith looks up.

Don’t worry ba MMD we will eventually rid ourselves of these clueless PF pangas like Mwamba.

  17. From informed sources, there is a foreign service opening in N’djamena, Chad. That would be the most ideal foreign service appointment for Emmanuel Mwamba. And as a perk, it’s only a stone throw away from Boko Harams playground. That ought to keep the lad pretty busy. All the best.

  18. Is that how they do it? They first appoint a person to a position, then if he/she accepts the offer, they give them a one week crash course to qualify them for that position? What an insane govt Zambians have got for themselves.

  19. Mulungushi university has been educating many students in international relations and diplomacy. Non of these graduates are ever considered even when they’re professionals and qualified for such jobs. Cadres who are not professionals are the ones rest assured to get those jobs. So what happens to the young people with h such qualifications?
