Lusaka Province Minister Obvious Mwaliteta says that political violence should be discontinued because Zambia is a peaceful nation.
Mr. Mwaliteta said time for political campaigns was over therefore no political party should be seen campaigning or resorting to violence.
He said as President Edgar Lungu is a President for all Zambians, no political party should victimize their fellow citizens.
The provincial minister was speaking when he toured Lusaka City Market to familiarize himself with the alleged violence taking place in the trading area.
He was accompanied by State House Deputy Minister Mulenga Sata.
Meanwhile, Mr. Sata said political parties should not interfere with the operation of the councils be collecting revenue on the local governments’ behalf.
He added that government will however engage in dialogue with party members to ensure the issue of violence and collection of revenue is resolved.
Your message is very shallow without a single statement worrhy quoting by tomorrow. The minister must have spoken on the commonalities of of marketeers – that their will be no market only for PF or UPND – that there will be no bank nor shop etc for a single political party – that Zambia will ever be a multi-party state. He spoke like any other, behaved like any other. Where is leadership? Where is wisdom? Where is a breath of patriotism? Their interest was on wrestling with their cadres as who should take the collected monies in the market. What a lost opportunity.
The Ministrer’s wet look looks like it was doused in Lusaka Beer!
Addressing cadres while faces down ati iam a minister ,talk direct our cadres stop the madness from today
Give back markets to Local Government (Councils) to run and problems solved. Whilst councils are struggling to raise money even for wages.
To familiarize him self with violence. Lol. May this party lead Zambia longer than unip did so that people may appreciate what they wished for.
Cont…cadres are benefiting from what they never planted, everything on a silver platter.
Always sidestepping the ‘obvious’ that supposedly requires to be tackled head on! Simple investigations would reveal who is causing mayhem in these institutions that each and every citizen has right of claim to participate in trading. Useless politicking revealing the might of cadres!
Sounds to me like he is saying violence will only be tolerated during campaign season.
A Bafoon for a minister.
Eheheh! does the minister have a wet look?
The epitome of leadership stupidity – You do not need permission from the president to enforce the law. Just do it. Arrest those disturbing the peace. Give them an ultimatum – “Find and arrest the perpetrators within one week. Or else the commanding officer will be fired”. Give them an incentive to do their job by enforcing already established and written law.You do not want to be addressing the same subject over and over and over. Fire someone for not performing the job then move on to new issues which need resolution.
