Zambia’s Cosafa Cup quarterfinal date set

Zambia will kick off their COSAFA Cup title defence on May 25.

COSAFA today unveiled the full tournament fixture list following Thursday’s draws that were made in Johannesburg.

Zambia and five other teams enjoy a preliminary group stage bye thanks to their FIFA rankings and will enter the tournament at the quarterfinal stage.

Chipolopolo will await the winner of the battle in Group A that will involve Zimbabwe, Namibia, The Seychelles and Mauritius.

Should Zambia beat their Group A opponent, they have a potential semifinal date against guest team Ghana.

Ghana, like Zambia, also await a preliminary round opponent from Group B that comprises of Swaziland, Madagascar, Lesotho and the tournaments second guest Tanzania whom they will play on May 24.

The quarterfinal losers will play in the Plate semifinal on May 27 and final on May 29.

The main COSAFA Cup semifinals will be played on May 28 while the final will take place on May 30.

South Africa will host the COSAFA Cup in North-Western Province from May 17-30.
