The UPND wishes to announce that the thanks giving rally that was scheduled to take place today 7th March 2015 in Lusaka’s Mtendere Township has been postponed to a later date to be communicated.

This in order to allow the various party structures to participate in other equally important party and national activities this weekend.

We deeply regret the inconvenience this may have caused.

We greatly appreciate your usual support.

Deputy Secretary General

  1. I told you that this rally will be a flop. UPND planned for this rally in the hopes that police will deny them a permit so that they make noise out of it. However, the professional police command gave them a permit. Realizing that only few people will attend as many are turning to the Rainbow, UPND pulls a surprise one to announce the postponement to cover their embarrassment.

    • @Shimpundu wan koloko
You are right in suggesting the underlying purpose for the cancelled UPND rally but I wouldn’t go as far as suggesting that “the professional Police” because we don’t have that in Zambia. Perhaps say the wisdom of Lungu has taken the day.

    • There is simply so much going on, including the GBM saga. KK’s books, bola…. and to add rally on top of it awe mwee. Lets just wait for those by-elections.

  2. UPND is coming out so disorganised these days. It’s not even a week that their leader was careless in his utterances and more they have cancelled a rally that would have galvanised support after a demanding week. I’m sure Wanzelu would have travelled for this big event.

  3. Emotional decisions lead to such confusions. When requesting for police permits, didn’t their leadership see those important assignments? I cant understand that these guys would go through the process of applying for a permit and be granted only to postponed their meeting. This is a lost political opportunity. Would not be surprised if the permit is denied next time.

  4. This is disorganisation at its best. I am sure they wanted to gain some political mile here if denied a permit. Go back to the drawing board and use another strategy.

  5. ifya kukopa just becoz lungu held one you also think of having one. Any way keep on dreaming becouse dreaming is one of the cheapest thing evry human can afford

  6. It seems people in this country do not follow the political events closely. They just wake up and start commenting without proper understanding. People learn to read and understand. That request was made a long time ago and the approval just came in last week and its almost coinciding with IWD which falls tomorrow. They want women to celebrate their day proper country wide without disturbing them tomorrow and I do not understand where the flop comes in..

  7. There is serious infighting in upnd as to who should take over the party. “Intelligence” reports that upnd “big wigs” are fed up with losing and wasting of their meagre contributions and they are now looking for a winning candidate to take over. Maureen Kakubo was roundly rejected and so was Nawakwi name. WATCH OUT FOR THE UNFOLDING DRAMA!

  8. Truth be told UPND has lost it. When did this party start considering national functions as important events? Ni booooza the event was going to be a disaster. HH shunned jubilee and many events before and worse he has always shunned the Sabbath. So what has changed today? The man is a loser

  9. @ a well organised party. Today after being giving police protection for UPND to hold a rally with a misplaced theme “THANKS GIVING RALLY”. Thanking who and for what? For making you lose? If you had been denied police permit, you would now be crying the loudest to say the PF govt is intolerant. I can assure UPND followers and supporters that the future of their party under HAIKAIVOTELA HUMWINE is very dim if not dark. This is a disorganisation of the highest order. Next time when you apply for a permit and then be denied, don’t cry foul as the police may equally have much important issues to attend to than policing hopeless rallies. New Educated Zambian where’re you to defend your disorganisation? Cry babies start things that you can finish otherwise you’ll remain irrelevant forever

  11. Hate to say we told you so. UpDn is now going all the way down. The fact that HH lost to some one who only campaigned for 20 days and had no campaign resources speaks volumes about the popularity of HH.
    HH should just give up
    2016 ECL nafuti nafuti.

    • 13.1, yes kolopa the kwacha nafuti nafuti until you achieve what your mentor next door achieved. You will be congratulated worldwide.

  12. hh is a blunt instrument at best. always seeking political mileage in any situation, Bravo to the police for granting him a permit otherwise he would have cried like the under five he is if the request was denied. Word of advice to ECL, please in future ignore whatever rantings the nonentity may utter

  13. Great move by UPND. They are participating in national events. Even if it is for political reasons, this is really good. I am humbled for once by UPND.

  14. Hahahahahaha……… UPND…… I have been proposing to HH to go and stand as a counselor in Nega-Nega ward, let him be that for 5years. Thereafter, let him stand as MP in Magoye constituence, after that in 2026 then he can start thinking of being a presidential candidate so that come 2031 he may win the general election. Please let’s work in that order then our party (UPND) will rule.

    Zambia is watching.

  16. You have time to waste. The announcement is very clear and the reasons justified. How can this rally be a flop when we organised a very sucessful rally at woodlands police within short notice.

  17. SURPRISE, SURPRISE! HH HAS CANCELLED A RALLY TO ATTEND WOMEN’S DAY CELEBRATIONS? SINCE WHEN? HH HAS ALWAYS BANNED HIS CADRES TO ATTEND OR CELEBRATE ANY NATIONAL EVENT.

HE IS JUST EMBARRASSED BECAUSE IT IS RUMOURED THAT GB, MUTATI, MUSOKOTWANE AND PAND PULLED OUT DUE TO THE PROBLEMS THEY ARE FACING IN THEIR PARTIES.
