Zambia to host Land-Locked Developing Countries conference

Zambia will in June, this year host a United Nations Conference on Land-Locked Developing Countries (LLDC).

Transport, Communications, Works and Supply Minister Yamfwa Mukanga has disclosed this in an interview in Lusaka today.

ZANIS reportsMr. Mukanga, who is also Chairman of the Ministerial Committee for LLDC, said Zambia would be among 32 countries attending the conference.

The Minister said the conference would be held at Chrisma Hotel in Livingstone from 2nd to 4th of June, 2015.

Mr. Mukanga further disclosed that out of the 32 countries expected , 16 will come from the African continent while the rest would be least developing countries from Asia and latin America.

He says the nation stands to benefit from the conference in increased flow of foreign exchange and tourists.

Mr. Mukanga adds that the conference would also provide an opportunity to market Zambia as a prime investment destination.

He said the members would also address transit regulations as well as lower the cost of doing business in LLDC member states.

Mr. Mukanga explained that top of the agenda is to follow the Vienna Conference 10-year programme of action.

  1. Heading should have been Zambia to host Land-Locked least developing countries. Zambia is hosting it because it is the least developed out of the least developing land locked countries. Clean up dirty Lusaka before the conference since visitors will be coming thru Lusaka
