UPND President Hakainde Hichilema has described as pure intimidation the move by the Zambia Police to question him over his recent community tours.

Mr Hichilema has however vowed that he will continue to fight for what is right.

In a statement, Mr Hichilema said the amount of resources spent in this exercise on fuel, mobilization and other allowances is tantamount to abuse.

‘We appeared for questioning at Kabwata Police this morning in yet another case of pure intimidation that sought to limit our freedom of movement in a supposedly free and democratic country,’ he said.

Mr Hichilema said is sad that the PF have once again chosen to engage in unproductive and expensive exercise through such summons.

‘This is once again another case of misdirected priorities in the use of public resources and personal. Can you imagine how much was spent in this exercise on fuel, mobilization and other allowances over something that was not even supposed to take place when our people have no medicine in hospitals?’

‘Just last week, suspected PF cadres brutally beat up minibus drivers in town and nothing has happened to these people, yet one would have thought security personal would have been directed to stop such hooliganism against citizens,’ Mr Hichilema said.

‘For how long shall this abuse of state resources and police brutality go on while our people wallow in poverty due to lack of jobs?’

‘Anyway, we would like to take this opportunity to thank the people who showed up in numbers in solidarity and also Charity Katanga and the PF Government for granting us an opportunity to mingle with our people at Kabwata Police Station,’ he stated.

‘May we continue to fight for what is right because we just have One Zambia, and One Nation. May the good Lord, Jesus Christ, be with you all. Thank you’

    • AH!….FYACHABECHABE BA HH IFYO NAIMWE. HOW MANY PEOPLE GO TO POLICE FOR QUESTIONING IN ZAMBIA? KK WAS ONCE LOCKED UP, SO WAS SATA. U ASKED FOR POLITICS PA ZED THIS IS POLITICS, STOP CRYING AND WAIT MORE TO COME.

    • The way Lungu is abusing his powers with the police like this, he will be in trouble once he leaves office. This is the thing our dull politicians fail to realize.

      You have our support HH

  1. I am not a UPND follower but must ask; was Miles Sampa also summoned? These police are just making sure HH stays relevant with their foolish summons.

  2. Let us make sure that Edgar Lungu’s immunity is lifted within 30 days of being out of office in 2016.

let us make sure that he rots in cells and he should be denied beer for 100 days. Time is up for Lungu.

  3. There is enough evidence that we got independence before we were ready. Even democracy is just a slogan. We don’t seem to understand it! These actions by our police are turning us into objects of ridicule. What a country! LIMBI NINGULU SHI!

  4. Iwe U5 almost all the ministers are out there in rural areas campaining in the name of projects,bt your in lsk quarrelling with ZP,open your eyes lsk pipo know you go in areas where they dont know you.this is jst a free advice bt remember what is going on in your party, things are not ok jst dissolve your nec and go to a quick convention….awe kuti wanaka mwe mu upnd.

  5. Edgar Lungu should have his middle leg amputeted. He is becoming a danderous dictator.

HH WE LOVE U, EDGAR WE HATE YOU.

  6. This is what happens when someone gets ushered into a higher office using someone else’s legacy. “No direction” is my new PF slogan. More popcorn please….

  7. This guy does not realize that he is not an ordinary citizen – he is an opposition leader of a major political party. Not all the people he is visiting are his supporters; if he gets beaten, he will be the first one to cry that the police did not protect him. He has to inform the police – and if they fail to provide security, we will be the witnesses. This is political immaturity.

    • @ Observer, Lets not make politicians think they are no ordinary human beings like any one of us when privileged to preside over delivering much needed services to better the lives of citizens. If police were honest and impartial they would have been commanding a lot of respect among the citizenry but alas! They see the people they are supposed to protect with the lens of he who occupies plot one and relegate the general population to go begging for protection while financing comfort and security for those of the ruling class! Just think what ingredients lead to lawlessness! If those who are charged to safeguard every citizen as they enjoy exercising their rights become myopic, violence when erupted claims victims either ways!

    • Why are you scared of HH if he is not a factor.HH won the 2015 elections but Lombe and Mambilima denied him chance to rule ,all we need to do now is to make our PVT is strong and protect every vote from these criminals. Its forward 2016 here we come. The will be the last battle.

  8. HH is right. I am saddened by the amount of tax payers money which has been lost instead of developing the nation and the freedom given to thieves and robbers to butcher/attack innocent zambians due to ZP pursuing a non-issue. This Act is also archaic and no one should be proud of it. Even PF agreed but said they want to use it for their advantage. Imagine how selfish PF is!

  9. Yes, the second rat eats the cheese!
l feel for the chaps at ZNBC…
    covering trash as news,
police are worse but there’s nothing they can do…families must be fed!

I remember S/sgt Samuel Doe, has he got ‘brothers’ here? as for sisters they are not yet borne-world over….

  10. @Mervis, unfortunately, you seem to live in a time capsule. We have moved a lot since the re-introduction of multi-party politics, but it seems people like you look at police brutality as something normal. Your party PF has slowed down the democracy snow ball and are hell bent on reversing all gains that have been made since then. PF secretary general is even musing on going back to the one party rat hole. Wake up, we are in the 21st century!

  11. UPND cadres and bloggers are so hungry for fun, such a spectacle is a carnival for them and they crave for more unproductive carnivals.

One fails to see the excitement in HH visiting Kabwata police, it worked for Sata but it can’t work for an intellectual. Jokes go with the time, the space and the personality, someone please advise HH.

Look at ECL, having fun at Kanshanshi hotel on Saturday night, while working and delivering.

  12. We the mad people of Zambia will again vote for Edgar, and you the sane ones will cry again. If hh wants to rule this country. He must first and foremost respect the laws of this land, acting like a clown will not work.

  13. Some people think voting is just a big joke, that’s why even people like EL can become presidents in Zambia. Imagine even jokers like Chama chakomboka(mhsrip) and Muliokela can find themselves on presidential ballot papers. Zambian are jokers and can throw this country to any imbecile, without shame as long as they satisfy their tribal instinct.

  14. What intimidation iwe? You broke the that’s why your lawyers struck a deal with ZP that you will not do what you did again. You start telling lies even before election time?

  15. Bembas need to respect this Tonga bull and realize their divisive “time to eat” ended with Sata’s death.

Zambia sasa ni yetu and Tongas are more than welcome to work with us easterners.

  16. Mind u PF are not sleeping.teaming up wth MMD is not a joke.UPND is dominated by southerners.thts more reason PF have MMD wth them to take easterners and Bembas together and Southerners sorry we cant beat them nibambili and this is real, its the truth..th electorate hv now learnt to vote the ‘Tonga way’..’wakoniwako’ or ‘ww’ and for sure its real.UPND 2016 kaya..whether we like it or not politics is about numbers and th majorityof voters are the grassroots frm vry rural areas..do they understand economics and HH?do they know th public order act?..zeroo..they only want to see aroad clinic and school in their area and say ..yeeeeehhh..to gvt ministers visiting them with ma flag na ma pajeros in th nsme of inspecting gvt projects and yt campaigning whlst we are busy going to markets in…

    • Thts true the voting trend in Zambia hs now changed.the pipo sre now voting for their tribes men not on wht th candidate can do for them.surey Ngonis and Bembas have teamed up…who thot Dora would go ku PF?..makani yabija..

  17. I really think this issue has been exagerrated in the sense that maybe the police were merely trying to inform him of the security risk he is posing for himself with the crowds (entourage) he goes with to the market , really who goes to buy one bundle of rape with a hundred people? come lets be realistic here ! I think they might have been a better way of getting the message to him . Imagine a situation that a bus he boards is involved in an accident whilst drivers jostle for client ,what would they say ? Right they would blame ……… ( fill in the blank) .In as much as he is free to move around ( nobody is stopping him by the way) he should be alert to the fact that not everybody in his entourage is honest as pick pockets exploit such situations .

  18. Zambians forget easly zoooona, was it the same U5 uwafumine pa mutenge ku kopala?ba ZP bale mucita advise nomba bena yaba ni politics,he’s forgotten how he complained tha police on the copperbelt did not protect him alaba, and you U5 followers dont blame the police, ask your leader what happened in Ndola if you dont know……..
