Power host Zesco in electric Copperbelt derby

Power Dynamos host Zesco United in 17h30 kickoff at Arthur Davies Stadium in Kitwe on Thursday in a battle for the number one spot on the FAZ Super Division table.

The two sides head into their delayed Week 12 game separated by just one point.

Power lead on 30 points from 14 games while the defending champions Zesco are third on 29 points from 13 matches and tied on points with second placed Zanaco.

This will also be the two sides first meeting since Zesco beat Power 3-1 on March 7 in the Charity Shield final at Nkana Stadium in Kitwe.

“The Charity Shield was a different ball game, this is a league game we are going to approach it in a different way,” Power assistant coach Anderson Phiri who is standing in for Tennant Chilumba following surgery on Tuesday to remove his appendix.

“We are not afraid of them and I know they respect us. I know it will be a good game.”

However, Zesco have yet to beat Power in the league since July 2010 when they recorded a 1-0 home win in Ndola.

Since then, Power has won six and drawn two of their last eight league meetings.

Meanwhile, the match will pit the leagues most in-form midfielders when Zesco’s Cletous Chota sqaures-up against Kelvin Mubanga of Power.
