PF Secretary General Wynter Kabimba has visited the Latin American Medical School and urged the Zambian Students studying there to work hard and learn as much as possible so that they can effectively contribute to the development of their country when they return home.

The medical school is a brainchild of Cuban revolutionary leader Fidel Castro and was set up 13 years ago, following a devastating hurricane in 1998 that exposed the need for increased healthcare. There are currently over 14,000 students from around the world who are studying at the institution, out of which 9 are Zambians.

And the Zambian students have requested the Zambian government to facilitate internships for them at several stages in the course of their studies to help them harmonise their studies in Cuba with the practical realities of the Zambian medical environment. The students also requested for the syllabus of the University of Zambia School of Medicine, which they said would help them compare with what they were learning since they were ultimately going to end up working in their country.

The 9 Zambian students at the Latin American Medical School are Kamoza Zimba, Katongo Kawimbe, Derby Tembo, Choolwe Milambo, Beatrice Mubita, Madrine Phiri, Kaoma Musonda, Ntombizine Mudenda and Akende Sitwala.

Mr Kabimba assured the students of government support and urged them to emulate the Cuban spirit of patriotism to their country.

And speaking to the staff at the institution, the Minister of Justice said that Cuba has made tremendous progress in the medical field since the triumph of the revolution, noting that the island has managed to eliminate malaria and cholera and had an impressive doctor to patient ratio, with one doctor per 120 families. Mr Kabimba acknowledged that Zambia has a lot to learn from Cuba in that regard and praised the island’s continued assistance to the southern African country.

  1. US envies the cuban medical revolution despite numerous attempts by America to destabilize this small island nation of the Caribbean. They have a very serious medical system which Zambia can learn from. Kabimba better follow up the requests by the Zambian students. We re tired of this “don’t Kubeba” philosophy that has wreaked havoc in all spheres of the Zambian life.

  2. Kamoza zimba, son of newstead zimba, kawimbe son of kawimbe? am sure even the rest are from the elite in zambia…..scholarships in zed are now a preserve of the families of the rich

  3. What is this Kabimba still doing in Cuba when we have constitution drafting process in Zambia at the moment…this is the selfsame reason this man should have not been given a government position.

  4. Is it not the ambassador to Cuba or foreign minister to attend such issues? This man us too much everywhere, I wonder if his d**k is always in the same p***y

    • A Minister of Foreign Affairs, or foreign minister, is a cabinet minister who helps form the foreign policy of a sovereign state. The foreign minister is often regarded as the most senior ministerial position below that of the head of government (prime minister or president……….

    • Jelitta’s question of “who is Foreign Minister” was meant to spark a debate as to why the minister of justice is performing the foreign ministers role. She was not asking for a definition

  5. ba minister of Justice..u were visiting the students in what capacity …ahhh mu zambia namo..iyo kwena tu le buuta

  6. CHECK ON THE NAMES.
COMPARE AND CONTRAST THE NAMES WITH THOSE WHEN THERE IS A ROBBERY/THEFT OR MISAPPROPRIATION OF FUNDS.
