FIRST Lady Christine Kaseba’s decision to contest the Patriotic Front (PF) presidency is to save the party from total collapse, late President Michael Sata’s sister, Emmah Mwila Chibesakunda, has said.

Ms Chibesakunda said Dr Kaseba needed the support of all family members in the race because she had been forced to stand a few days after burying her husband due to the sad happenings in the party.

She appealed to the moral conscience of all her family members to rally behind Dr Kaseba’s decision to contest.

The Sata family was not pleased with what was happening in the ruling party and wished to state that the nation was now centred on what was happening in the PF and to see how the family was handling such issues.

Speaking on behalf of Dr Kaseba at Nkwazi House yesterday, Ms Chibesakunda said the contesting of four family members against one another spoke a lot of what was happening in the PF.

“How can 10 people stand on one ticket? This is why I am saying she has been forced to stand up and contest this position because if not now, this party might not even finish one term,” Ms Chibesakunda said.

Asked whether Dr Kaseba and the family had spoken to Lusaka Mayor Mulenga, Commerce Minister Bob Sichinga and his deputy Miles Sampa to support one candidate from the family, Ms Chibesakunda said the decision to withdraw was for an individual to make.

She said Mulenga and the two others should take personal decisions to withdraw after realising that Dr Kaseba had also made a decision to contest the presidency.

“Each person has a democratic right to stand and if they have to withdraw, it has to be on an individual basis. Mulenga can make a personal decision that since mum has stood let me withdraw, naba Bob, Sampa can do the same thing, its not her to do that. They have a democratic right to stand, but it is a family at hand here who should rally behind ba Kaseba,” she said.

Ms Chibesakunda said there was no other time for her to stand after seeing that the party was slowly being torn apart by people who did not suffer for the party since inception.

“She wants to serve the party, the country and the people of Zambia whom her husband loved so much. He died for his people, so please I beg you, do not traumatise her more by writing contrary stories about her. I feel bad for the members of the family, let us get united,” she said.

Iress Phiri from the Zambia National Traditional Counsellors Association (ZNTCA) said her heart was bleeding following accusations levelled against Dr Kaseba in the online media concerning the manner she had handled the post-funeral tradition.

On her contesting eight days after burying her husband, Ms Phiri said it was the right time for her to do so because circumstances were beyond her control, seeing that so far there was no one capable of handling party matters better.

  1. Much do we appreciate human being capacity to hold things together, God is powerful to sustain PF even without the help of mankind. I feel there is nothing wrong to state that l have come into politics because of my personal interest and desire than find ways to justify the move. Iam not sure why God can not use others to unite the party but only the Doctor. I have said it and l will say it again, you have the right to stand and if your conscience is clear go for it.

    • Mama, What you are saying is that PF is family project which cannot survive without the Sata family. Then would Zambians be wrong to say in your views, all members that worked with our late President Sata (MHSRIP) are nothing but disposable plates? PF has been Sata and Sata was PF. Here it has become evident that our late President was a terrible leader. He was more of a foot soldier than a true leader. otherwise, this chaos would have been avoided. Now you have to deal with many forces starting with family and conflagrations, internal party rivalry, the dissatisfied voters, dis-chanted PF members, and worse still the opposition campaign machinists. This may be a daunting undertaking.

    • How can one carry somebody else’s vision. Its like a son sitting for maths exam because his dad was a maths professor. Even Obama didn’t carry Martin Luther King’s vision nor George W. Bush his father’s. Everyone should have their own vision kwasila

    • Okay Guy Scott has really tried to hold things together. By this time, we would have seen five political parties mushroomed from the PF (Perpetual Fools).

    • PF don’t be so blinded; the post man is controlling the cartel activities, he has in the past propped people up and brought some down at his will. We should admit that to a great extent Zambians have allowed him to control Zambia. Look at it this way: Wynter and Sylvia were fired by PF (MCS), it would be naïve of PF to think that the two’s allegiance to PF is still the same. The other one is Guy, he knows he does not qualify to stand for president so he has nothing to lose in all this, moreover he once fired Edgar and you know what that means if Edgar won. But these are the people siding with the post man, we have seen it in the ‘post’. Guy once refered to the ‘A’ team, to him only the late president, Wynter and himself (guy) mattered and ‘owned’ PF.

    • So you can imagine how they must be feeling with the increasing popularity of Edgar. So the so called ‘cartel’ are using the ‘post’ to advance their agenda and by all means bring Edgar down. If PF doesn’t wake up quick enough they will all lose in the process. If PF thinks the cartel wants them to win they are DEAD WRONG! The ‘post’ for example has in recent past discredited PF openly, so what do you expect of people who are friends to the post man. Remember ‘Birds of the same feather flock together’. You will notice that if Edgar wins at the convention the attacks, and frustration on him will intensify. Some MPs supporting Guy are blinded, by the time they wake up they will have lost their jobs and MMD or UPND will be seating on their desk.

    • Have you not wondered how that of all the people contesting for presidency both in PF and outside the post man is only attacking Edgar even when there is so much nonsense happening elsewhere, that should tell Zambians something. Yes Kambwili you can support Guy today but look really closely and see who is controlling him- it’s the post man who in the recent past published un printables about you.

    • @Bishop Edward, you think God is a PF member? Where did you study you bible? You think God don’t like HH? Ba Edward tamwakwata amano mwebo. How can you drag Lesa into those PF mud? You insulted God.

    • A good compromise for PF would be , since there’s so much support for Edgar, why not vote for Edgar at the convention and have Kaseba has vice president. In this way those supporting Edagr win, the cartel supporting Kaseba wins, and Kaseba and Sata’s family win in a way. Both Edgar and Kaseba will draw considerable number of voters. With UPND planning to join hands with MMD PF needs such a combination to have a cutting edge. If people feel proud and ignore such a strategy it will be at their own peril

    • The compromise of Edgar Lungu and Kaseba may be good for PF but that would mean that Zambia would still be stuck with PF and that would not be a good compromise for Zambia as a whole at all. Fcuk PF.

    • Try telling us something else. It won’t change what people are thinking of her right now. Its only a handful like you Reverend who have something positive to say to/about her. If its true you are a reverend, and you died today, your wife decides to move on with her life TWO WEEKS later what would your flock, relatives and children say about her? We are not saying she can’t stand, she can and its her right but not after TWO WEEKS Reverend, no! Some dignity and decency over here please!

    • I beg to differ! It is to serve ZAMBIA once and for all…… Say what you want if she pulls through I shall stick my Thin long Thumb on her name! If you care about Zambia you will over look all the negatives sounding in your head and vote Dr Kaseba.
Mr President where do I vote here in Europe Please fast for I dont want to waste time.

    • This is how STEWPID WE ZAMBIANS ARE – WE HAVE VERY SHORT MEMORIES – WE have FORGOTTEN TO ASK HOW A FIT & WELL PRESIDENT, THAT WENT FOR A SIMPLE MEDICAL CHECKUP DIED – we haven’t bothered to ask HOW HE DIED , WHAT KILLED HIM, DID The KING EDWARD VII Hospital kill him out of Medical Negligence – KASEBA SHOULD BE GIVING US THESE ANSWERS!!

    • If PF is a family owned Party?? Then agreed Madam. But since we are in a democratic state?? Dr Kaseba’s decision has nothing to do with saving the party?? It is her personal Interest.

The timing is wrong because I am sure you also have traditional norms and values of respecting a funeral? How can a widow start moving around Zambia to Campaign?? Is she still wearing the black clothes?? It is embarrassing to see such desperation in the SATA family. LET THIS NOT BE AN EXCUSE. We all Know that you still want to enjoy the Zambian Money. Be assured that you will not get it?? No Votes for any SATA’s relative or PF. They are useless.

  2. Oh! So Chibesakunda was Sata’s sister; this name is very popular in the judiciary. Is she related to Justice Lombe Chibesakunda? If so, then I agree with those who call PF a family tree.
No wonder even Kaseba would want to succeed her husband.

    • Please somebody tell me; Is the so called Kaseba a PF member and if so when did she join?

My wife does not automatically become a member of any organisation I form or join. She has to join personally.

Another question I have is who eligible to stand for the position of party president according to the PF constitution; is it any ordinary member or some one already in leadership? If the later is the answer, what position was Dr Kaseba holding in PF before her filling of nomination papers?

    • this is crap; pf have lost their filthy minds. that kaseba is a hoe and i will plunder her big bottom without lubricant any day now; evans mfula at evaduco ltd reporting live from lusaka and hiding from kitwe boys; PF, UPND and MMD chicalas can suck on my chicala all day long and sallow my cum

    • Ati the president died for Zambia…lol. Sorry may HSRIP, but this is very funny to see how these people take Zambians to be fools. Iam really tired of these Jokers but Iam glad Zambians are awake now. No more Jokes!!! Zambians know what they want. So Lombe is a sister to the late,uh?! Now I see why the family forest is worried. Not for Zambians of course but their personal previliges. Don´t lie to us anymore. We as a country and a people have been down this road before of being lied to. The woman you want to shove down our throats lied about her husband´s illness to the nation. The president was missing in action till prononouced dead! Now you want to lie to us that she cares and she´s the only honest one? My leg!!! Stop insulting Zambians. Ifwe ni Flight HH2015 chabe. We have decided.

  3. The other question l have with this report it sounds like she is automatically adopted to rescue the party or do we see her as one coming to contest. She should be read to accept defeat as well….in the case that someone else is adopted to stand on the PF ticket

  4. its not the responsibility of Sata’s family to save PF from collapse but collectively all PF members. in fact Dr Kaseba is more of an outsider to PF than the people she is fighting for the top position. she is just power hungry. Remember Sata used to laugh at people who want to use short cut to state house. let her try pa constituency level first.

  5. Whether she stands or not PF has collapsed people like GBM are joining UPND, mark my words.
In fact GBM is already a member of UPND.

    • I heard something like that also. If its true, VIVA! Anyone who leaves the beloved DISAPPOINTING P.F to join even if its Cosmo Mumba’s nursery school party is a hero to me. Enough of the noise. We are the ones who are suffering instead. When two elephants fight, its the grass that suffers. In the P.F case, its one too many elephants engaged in a fight.

  6. I also feel Dr. Kaseba has a right to contest. This talk about ‘our culture blah blah..’ Is totally rhetorical. Is property grabbing also part of our culture may I ask? There are some things that we as a people uphold more than we preach to be. When my Dad died, over 10 years ago, his relatives looted our belongings just a few days after his burial. Now that is our culture. Stop traumatizing the former first lady and allow her to pursue her next chapter in life.
By the way this comment does not endorse her candidature. The Pf will first decide before the majority of the Zambians decide to give a chance to Mr. Hakainde Hichilema that Tonga bull. Hope tamwakese nomusamwa ati “all bembas out!!!” We shall equally boot you out! Zambian voters pasopo mwanaa

  7. Emmah Chibesakunda is speaking for her stomach. She is part of the family tree. She was Higher Commissioner in Japan, after she left Japan believe it or not you can check for yourself, another family member Mwelwa Cibesakunda took over. These people should be ashamed of level nepotism created. It is not Bembas by the way benefiting, no, its the Sata family.
No wonder so many from the family are contesting PF presidency, there is too much to loose because of family members deployed all over.
In fact, Dr Kaseba, is a husband snatcher. Mulenga Sata’s mother lost the marriage due to her. The mother to Mulenga was divorced because of her. If she gets the presidency, Mulenga will be out of job possibly. When Mulenga Sata’s young brother was marrying, Dr Kaseba refused Sata to attend the…

    • Shame. The things hunger can make you do. But still aba bangwele, kuya bebele. If they win, it will show that Zambians forget easily and we the masses are the ones who perpetuate ‘Kusheta Politics’. The sad thing though is that the only people doing Kusheta at the end of the day are the ones on top. The rest of us will continue to live on the IMF and World Bank statistics of less than one U.S dollar per day.

  8. I totally condemned the thinking of Madam chibesakunda , u think that sata’s family is the only family which is blessed to rule this country or the most educated family , why cant u just come out, that madam kaseba has interest to contest than to justify , we (zambian) are not blind that we cant see what is happening in PF or deaf that we can not hear that PF is a family tree, this not a monarch country but democratic country. go to hell with your selfish centered Ambitions.

  9. The problem with PF is that you are a bunch of hypocrites. You worshipped Sata as though he were God. He did a lot of wrong things but people FEARED not respected him. He was more dictatorial than Guy Scott let alone any other president we’ve had. You are paying for the sins of cheating the people of Zambia. People who sold dogs 36 months ago are now billionaires today! A lot of looting has happened in PF. Let it go with the owner after all you never corrected him when wrong. The happenings in PF today, epitomise the confusion in Sata. MHRIP

  10. The perception is that its too early for her to stand as president. The move divides the party further, because it seems the family wants to inherit the part. The more important thing is the mood of the people, they are the ones voting after all.

  11. How sad for the late Mr. Sata.
Emmah Mwila Chibesakunda, I know you are conversant and up to date to give me an answer to the following:

What’s the equivalent of 30 pieces of silver these days?

  12. It looks like PF is a dynasty built by Michael for his family…Given, lungu, GBM, why don’t you build your own and live it as inheritance for your family. DR Kaseba feels bad that all the outsiders want to benefit from what Michael suffered for…will she take defeat? She is short of telling everybody to back off from her estate(PF)

  13. That cow dung stuff! You think your clan owns Zambia? One day people will wake up from the slumber?

You think us Zambians have enjoyed the chaotic and myopic rule of Sata aka pf?

We are tired of such excreta !

  14. Singing :

Uyu Mwana alibe Nzelu Ani tengela buku
    Buku yanga buku. Buku yanga.

Uyu mwamuna alibe Nzelu Ani tengela buku yanga buku. Buku yanga buku.

    • Nzelu mudala, I hear the words but do not understand sh!t you are saying. Do you care to cut through the crap and simply spell it out in layman’s lingo? Thank you, thank you and thank you again.

    • I think there’s a cultural gap here – nuyau is writing the lyrics to a pop song by Anna Mwale. It was bubble gum pop but very catchy.

  15. Wapaisha ichalo iwe we mwanakishi , shakulumbule ishina nalakweba okofeye. Ichalo chonse chalihiba ukuti iwe walifwilwa ala tekenya twapapata. Apapene umulume afwile walasangwa namuma campain no kulapanga ama meeting wemwanakashi wamupamba noluse tawakwata iye mayo. Am not against her standing , she should have taken some time to mourn her husband as per tradition 2016 around the corner.

  16. Madam former first lady. i know you are very intelligent and you can read what the people are writting. if it is possible rally behind edgar and save yourself from this embarrasment. people are already psychologically defeated by our culture. if God is with us try 2016 u can be shocked to see how much people love you. here it is culture vs proffessionalism. infact for my phd i hv changed my topic i hv to research on this on

  17. From the same mouth she says,”Each has a democratic right to stand And each has to make a personal decision.” Yet when it comes to kaseba she says,”Kaseba was foecd to stand.” Concerning Mulenga and others, Chibesakunda says, they have a democratic right to stand but as for the family, they should all rally behind kaseba. In my view, chibesakunda wants to appear very democratic, yet it’s very clear from her statements that she has a hidden motive which only herself knows by openly favoring the widow. Why has she suddenly become the spokesperson for kaseba. Where was she all this time, especially during the sickness of her relative?

  18. Mrs chibesakunda, pls stop misleading Doc. let her just divert abit for now even to community service thru ubutala bwa bumi. we know she is a leader. mwibafulunganya mummy abanenu. she is in a state of confusion. Please help her instead. Its sad to read the insults which are going around. u know now pipo are thinking y the rush???? Anxiety has been created. if she doesnt go through she can even get depressed. now look pipo are digging deep into who was appointed and u r destroying satas legacy. u r close to her be real

    • She is being real and done the right thing to clear the lies created by watch dog and people like you. She is is the only one who can save PF at this point in time.

  19. She’s the ex first concubine. Or ex first lady, if that makes you feel better. But definitely not THE first lady. Why do these Zambian journalists keep getting that wrong?

  20. Yayi nkonkolokani Mrs Chibesakunda mbuya. mutisebanya pela…. Ndalama zulekalini kuwama. Mupaya pf pela mwekha. with foolish decisions. mwakochokako mu state house mwaokumvwa matusi mu komboni. vili lini bwino. banthu bali naofuna. Anyinawasu obauzga kuti ataya mwambo bachi filika. na nkhale pansi poyamba. mutinvwe. musamvwa adamvwa nkwangwa ili mumutu. ati munshebwa aile namafi kubuko bachi bemba.

  21. By the way, what is that fashion statement thrown over this woman’s shoulder? Is it the same thing dictator Kaunda is seen wearing in his 1960s photos? Or maybe she is trying to portray a regal ensemble to boost her chances for the office her male lover Sata vacated? This is all getting too confusing and too bizarre beyond polite discussion.

  22. Oh please so PF is a family party and not a national party? She never held any party position when her late husband was alive (not even a ward committee member position), so what credentials does she have that could be used to ‘save‘ the party? Just being the wife to the husband is qualification enough to be president of a party and thereafter president of the country? What load of malabishi are these? They want to join politics but they don’t want to be exposed to the brutal talk that come with being exposed to Zambian politics… cry me a victim!

She can have the presidency of the party but please, please let her never come close to the national presidency, for she has no political or economical qualification for that position. Let her just go back to UTH.

    • My thoughts exactly, at least ‘Baby Cobra’ Mulenga Sata tried is Kabulonga W.C. But even then, I doubt Baby Cobra has leadership qualities, he looks calm though.

    • @Maverick you have stated it so well. I am hoping that one person who is supporting should tell us how she qualifies to be the President of Zambia. What makes her capable than the other candidates that are there? Is it because she shared a bed with the late President? Some of even gone further to state that she was the de facto President because he husband had been sick for a while, where did they get that news from? Moreover, if she was the de facto President then she was a super dictator because the decisions that were made where horrific to say the least.

  23. Is doctor Kaseba going to unity the PF party or she is going to destroy it. How many relatives of Dr. Kaseba and the late president are in foreign mission and key positions in government? Why can’t Dr. Kaseba withdraw and give chance to the son who first filled in papers. Power is sweet, sweet is power. The fact that 4 members from the same family want power at all cost speaks much.

  24. Sonia Ghandi saved the congress party of India after the death of her husband. Dr Kaseba is a founder member of PF and she was behind the late President from day 1, country men and women please let us give her the a hand.

    • Tangible credentials please?! Not the crap you are writing, all of sudden it becomes clear she was a founder member after her husbands death?

    • Well Gandhi was assasinated, Sata – we still don’t know, ZP should investigate how a FIT & WELL PRESIDENT WHO WENT FOR A MEDICAL CHECKUP DIED – Kaseba as spouse needs to be TICKED OFF THE LIST OF ASSASINS!! – before she can claim to carry on his vision – actually, lack of vision!

  25. Another point to consider is Zambia has never had a Bachelor or single man or woman for President. Zambians respect leaders who have a partner by their side as a symbol of good moral standing.

  26. I feel bad at the eminent collapse of PF. It’s true the former first lady Dr. Kaseba has been driven to the extreme. She had no intention initially after her husband passed on to contest. She clearly stated it when quizzed by reporters that she was mourning and that idea did not cross her mind. It was the sudden acrimonious situation that ensued in PF a day after the burial president Sata that added sorrow to her. I feel for her.

    • Day light lies! Are ambitions to stand as president made that spontaneous. The lady will only cheat the gullible that the descision has just been made

    • @Umubemba …you can sugar coat all you want. The fact is that she has a democratic right to stand even during her husband’s funeral but the voters have also democratic rights not to vote for her depending on various reasons. For me I won’t support her because of the foll: I am tired of the family forest, I find that she lied about her husband’s health status (we were not questioning her to reveal what disease he had but to be honest and state that he is unwell. After all he was getting paid being in bed and that it our money) so she is a liar like them, the cartel (I have been affected by them so I know they exist) are behind her, she is not experienced in the political arena etc.

  27. So this Chimukamfwilwa is saying that only herself can unite PF? i think something is wrong in her head, listen madam you are just a selfish woman and a liar.Thats why you lied to us that your confused husband never anointed anyone and yet you had some interests.what a crooked woman!!now listen again, even if you were given a chance to stand don,t expect to win maybe your family can vote for you.YOU HAVE SUPRISED MANY PEOPLE WITH THIS DECISION TO STAND.Anyway welcome to real politics you will be finished: mark my words.

  28. Dr Kaseba has her priorities all wrong. She overworked her husband into total death by doing nothing but she’s ready to save PF from total collapse?

Its all self serving if you ask me.

    • She should have come out earlier to save PF when cadres where hacking each other and carrying coffins. She should have come out when her husband was mismanaging the party which he ruled by decree.

PF members feared Sata and that’s how he managed the unruly Party. They don’t and won’t fear Madam Kaseba. Personally l don’t see how she’ll unite PF.

  29. Who cares as PF is dying?

My small scale farmer mother sold maize to FRA and she has not been paid, not even assurance as to when. All the rubbish she is being fed is Kaseba this, PF that, Sata this….

The Police are Torching innocent students in hostels yet all we hear is Edgar fighting Guy. Kambwili popping his reddened eyes at either of them and GBM waiting in ambush. Bashi Nono bonse sure? Ka Mulenga also at school of Sata…?

You were hiding Sata illness but you cant hide PF cancer. Go ahead PF die….

  30. Should saving PF be a priority surely for now? PF start fighting and in these few days you quickly make a descision to stand to save PF, are decisions such as being a republican president made that quick. The sister who is trying to justify must be a big f00l

    • Mukamfwilwa feels cheated by her husband’s quick demise. After he fought for so long; being cheated out of presidency by Chiluba and the years in the ‘wilderness’ and just when he wins he fails to finish his term. That is a no no for her. My advise stay far away from Membe; anyone who Membe supports never get to finish their term of office. Maybe if he pays back what he owes the Zambians!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  31. If she is so caring about Pf,why doesnt she just hand over to the other family members instead of them handing over to her?
There is just no logic ba chibesakunda….
dont be so dull my dear!!!

  32. The Post news papers as deceitful as ever from inception have taken a line to portray the Kaseba is standing due to many calls by Zambians. Proper orchestrated scheme as usual, there is no zambian asking for Kaseba to stand apart from Sebastian.

  33. TIMELY WARNING – was opened my eyes. That was a very good comment. Those with eyes will see this. Way the post man is attacking only one person out of more than twenty people who want stand that is including those in the opposition? The evil Lungu has done was to be prefered by Sata to Wyinter. There are other useless Guys standing but his aim is on Lungu. Is it a trouble thing?

    • The LUNGU CARTEL is failing to sell its candidate effectively. What are Lungu’s credentials, if I may ask? All I have been reading about him so far is a basket full of negatives. What is his positive side?

    • Mei, he is the only senior PF member who strongly condemned violence (in fact at one of the times he was acting President). He has shown readiness to move on the Constitution. He has exhibited a more sober mindedness (meaning he can control the bottle) compared with all the other goofs in PF including Scott. For PF Edgar is the more strategic compromise candidate (and I do not and have never liked PF).

  34. Saving PF can’t be her call. She is not even accepted by most PF members including other aspirants, so how can she save PF. Who is cheating her that she can save PF, there were machetes and pangas even before her husband died, and now she says she wants to save PF. The pangas showed us how divided this party is and now this chap Kaseba says she wants to save PF. Dandala head

  35. What killed Sata Anyway? The man was reported very fit and working in the post a few months ago when he was on working Holiday. Then goes for the medical check up then dies. What killed our president? We need to investigate this. No one dies during for medical check up when you fit! it could be wrong medication. No one should kill our presido and goes scott free.

  36. 1.Christine failed to save Sata from total collapse, how can she save PF from total collapse?
    2. “Chiimbwi pa ku bosa, naishiba epo ashintilile” she knows who have promised to deliver the Republican Presidency to her.
    3. No, Zambia has never had a “bachelor” or a “spinster” alone in State House, lets not turn it into a brothel
    4. As it is, Nkwazi house needs serious fumigation
    5. Madam Chibesakunda and family, kindly VACATE state house, it is for well meaning Zambians, there is no title teed in Sata family name.

    GO HOME!!

  37. Sata’s family amazes me. First they lie that she didn’t ask for it, 2nd that she dump the clothes and 3rd that she is saving PF from Collapse. It actually the opposite if they don’t see it her action is destroying the party. SATA is on record to have told her he was the one elected and not her. So if they understands a bit that sentence they shouldn’t like. She is not PF to save it from collapse but the collective responsiblity of the party members. PF is not about Chitulika Village. THey are so naive. Why didn’t she support Mulenga. So this SATA relatives are craze. Zambian are watching them with interest. Instead of being sensible they are exhibiting total NONSENSE. Come 20th January, 2015 you all be part of Zambia’s History just like…

  38. And just to put this into perspective, imagine this: I die to today and my wife who is works in a different field, goes to my company and tells them she is the only one with her to replace me and save my ‘legacy’. Apparently merely by virtue of being my wife, she is qualified in what I know… remarkable!

Reminds me of Hillary Clinton, the American people dismissing her claims of foreign policy experience just because she was a wife to her husband. And this was a woman who actually served in Congress as a Senator of NY. The woman had to serve as a Secretary of State to enhance her political resume in preparation for her next run.

Maybe she can try running for a ward and later as an MP… in 20 yrs time she can then try her luck to run for President.

  39. Ba Emma Mwewa Chibesakunda you are the biggest fool in the land. You even have audacity to defend the Black Widow. The Spirit of Micheal will haunt you and tour Christine for ever. Foolish people. Why not then support Mulenga Sata. But because you have all been corrupted by that confused black Widow with no traditions. Recently I was at funeral for a colleague from Mpika – Chilonga Mission, the widow was asked to take the funeral to the village after three months for tradition rites to performed. So ba Emma which traditions are talking about. Please stop lying to the nation. Dr. Kaseba is just a disgrace to all widows, married women and nation at large.

  40. The post newspaper is cheating her. You can see the way they have carefully crafted the lines on her ” after numerous calls by Zambians”. Which Zambians? This lady if not careful will put herself into perpetual mourning, she will be bruised

  41. The black widow is only in it to protect the family forest. I feel sorry for this woman, her acts of desperation are only the tip of the ice berg. This family tree looting system will make the Chiluba dynasty look like child’s play. Her late husband fired people from all angles to create this forest and the thought of someone else doing the same to them is daunting. We are watching you. God has his ways of punishing people. “Let right be done”

  42. Guy Scott and Mmembe shall regret if they impose this widow Kaseba.plus iwe chi Mmembe stop pushing Kaseba in your Post,u’re irritating many.thats why your post now is not selling a lot.we dont buy it as u preach doom!many voters cant vote for Kaseba now bcoz they feel she has to mourn Sata.U Mmemba has no wife so u cant know this!please support Edgar Lungu whom the masses want!Guy Scott please OP to confirm who is popular on the ground.Mmembe’s cartel wants to kill PF by imposing unpopular candidate.open your eyes please iwe fi Chenda,Kambwili etc.dont just follow Scott when deep down your hearts you know that voters want Edgar Lungu.your hatred for Edgar Lungu shall make u lose power soon!

  43. Fellow Zambians, l’m afraid you’re still very backward. Do away with your pride and allow a woman to rule you. Its not always a man that can always rule a woman. Give a chance to Dr. Kaseba and see what a woman can do. Through out history women have been despised and yet they have always played important roles in society much better than some men have ever done. Its time we lernt, started to respect and appreciate women for what they are. Moreover, they are less corrupt than men. Actually they have brought you up to what you are now. What if the works that Sata is praised for were actually her ideas. You never know the power of women behind curtains where they have been restricted by men in certain societies!!

    • Point missed completely, this issue has nothing to do with woman or non woman. The husband to this lady said one must have at least been a councillor to stand as a president. And that is why we would like to see her track record. We have many myopic person like you who decide to mislead yourself by bringing in the woman thing. Okay if it’s a woman thing, let’s vote for Nawakwi

    • Charlieman, am with you brother and we shall carry the day come what may go what might! Vivi mother Zambia Viva to all women and girls this is our time. These male species have cut off our hands and tongues for so long, it’s time we went the Greek way use them and make them stink at their game so no one will lay next to them! IT IS TIME!!!!!!!! Hoe wie?

  44. This situation is really katwishi mwe, If she had waited untill 2016 it would have made more sense. Its less than two weeks ago and there she is trying stand. Awe te ntambi . I wander what Sata would say. Am in favour of a woman president but not this time Dr. Kaseba , hold your peace stay home and mourn your husband. Your political image is at risk. Amono ya pesonde yalafwayika nayo not yakubelenga yeka. If i where you, i would with draw from the race and if you do that believe me you will come back with a bang in 2016 and you will probably win, the women will rally behind you remember the women out number the men in zambia and the world.

  45. Sata made many mistakes. Was a confused person who left everything confused. His descisions as president were weireed and irrational. I now know where all this confusion was coming from, if you want continuity of the confusion, well the lady has offered herself.

  46. …I’m sure we will be seeing more of this on LT……no doubt LT have soft heart for the former first lady….even before this, those weekly photos, 80% were that of her. I wouldn’t be surprise that Nsama the photographer is related to her and that he is her image builder in her campaign team….
These photos are in a way de-campaigning her bcos at a glance, one would think she has already done away with the black head scarf….mourning..

  47. People should be sincere. Were was Dr Kaseba when Indiscipline in PF was growing at an alarming rate. She had all the time and influence then to talk to her husband on taming the machete carrying PF cadres who intimidated everyone on their way with impunity. Where was she that time to seek to correct the situation now when it is too late. Where was she when innocent boys were hacked to death by fellow PF cadres? Like what mmembe is saying that some violence was even sponsored by top leadership and was tolerated. Where was she? Today that is when she seeks to unite the party when her influence is completely gone. I don’t understand this.

  48. PF has no membership cards. You only need to wear a PF chitenge, look confused and be controlled either by the Mmembe cartel or Edgar Lungu war lord

  49. This drivel about Kaseba carrying Sata’s vision makes me feel like puking! Who said political ability is something one can assume by osmosis? This woman is a medical doctor, but she obviously lacks natural intellingence. If she can allow herself to be influenced in this manner by those lurking in the background with selfish ends to serve, then she lacks the cardinal leadership quality of integrity. She is just wishy – washy or the cartel have some juicy stories about her dark corner affairs and holding her to ransom! For heaven’s sake, no sooner has she started to heal from this monumental loss of her husband than she decides to jump into the fray of politics!!!!!!!!! Shame!

  50. First off, vacate Nkwazi house; you can always return if or when you win the presidency. This nonsense of trying to use Eva Peron style ascendancy tactics is not a very good move. I think we must sober up and admit that this party was espoused in messy circumstances and therefore needs to be righted. Let all those related to the late president chill and wait in the wings. We need sanity. That said, may the best man or woman win at this rate! I wish the constitution was a little away from British nonsense of by-elections. Just have Scott finish the term to 2016 for Pete’s sake.

  51. Forget about the mourning thing, this woman will be mourning for the rest of her life. I hear RB’s wife is fighting cancer but what’s RB doing right now? His wife has a chance of surviving and what Rupiah is doing now may even make her situation worse but people don’t care because he’s a Man with the right to do so. Sata is dead and mourning him 24/7 won’t change the situation. She want to mourn, show respect and remember her husband by fulfilling the work that he begun. Any woman who thinks or knows she has the capability of ruling Zambia is welcome but the people would decide. We should give support to women who would contest until the best is chosen. I appeal to all women to learn to support their fellow women. I know how important culture is but weigh some things in the…

    • But RB is none Starter… I tend to believe all man kind is selfish and greedy, the best weapon is knowing how to survive for it is survival of the fittest! Those guidelines were stipulated by man who put in what he thought would give him advantage so what my lady Doc Kaseba is doing is nothing but the right thing and if it means she to the rescue of Zambia at the level like never before, Why not? I Know most Zambians are not exposed so all they sniff is what plays in the four corners of that beautiful small country! Move above the clouds and see beyond you poor men and women…. Shaaa!

  52. “Since the death of my husband, I have watched with pain the unfolding events and divisions within the party. Our people are concerned with the acrimony and at times shameful violence that have characterized our party’s attempt to find a successor to the late president. These divisions, if not contained, pose a real threat not only to the future of our party, but to the achievement or realization of president Sata’s dreams…” Part of Dr. Kaseba’s statement on why she has availed herself for possible selection as PF presidential candidate. My questions: When did the divisions in the PF party begin? Did they begin after president Sata’s demise? What about the violence and acrimony, have they begun now? These issues were there even before the death of Mr. Sata.

    • I agree. PF has been a festering wound long before the demise of President Sata. The fights within have been the PF story for a long time now.

  53. Honestly even an old lady like Mama Emma is able to understand why us. The appointment of Edgar is the similar mistake like one with Mr. Rupiah Banda. PF might not last long. I advise Dr. Scott to be firm for the good of majority Zambians. Edgar to me doesn’t seem to know what he wants so disappointing. Dear Nominees please make Dr. Kaseba the Sole Candidate you will see the Land slide victory. Remember that its women that Vote and a few men.

    Regards

  54. When President Sata was fighting for his life Dr. Kaseba and Dr. assured us that he was fine and working. I find it hard to believe if these lied about the health of our president.

  55. I meant to say: When President Sata was fighting for his life Dr. Kaseba and Dr. Scott assured us that he was fine and working. I find it hard to believe why these two lied to the nation.

    • @ Hola,
Hahahahahahahha…. and you think playing solo at this stage would be a wise thing to do? hahahahahha, Dear, it takes mone and strong powerful system to make a win! popularity is a thing of the past everywhere in the world! I doubt it even existed, Lungu needs some strong men to cover him if he is to pull through, even just one is enough, but if it’s just the likes of poor bloggers hidding behind the key board…. he can kiss this game goodbye! But life is not fair, the only Man who could have saved him is beyond the skies, nowonder he is Always sad, the day he recieved that Phone call he knew it was over, done, what a life! Dude served his master delligently only to be salveged by scavengers! Jajajajajajajja I dont envy politicians, for whatever dime I would never accept!

  56. If its true Inonge Wina is Mmembe’s aunty, Edgar Lungu is surrounded snakes. Nkandu Luo is related to Lombe and Emma Chibesakunda. Emma is Sata’s sister. Chikwanda who gave Lungu the nomination fee is Sata and Emma’s uncle. Lungu you are a loner in PF, your minister friends are out to finish you. Lungu get your life jacket and swim to shore while you still can.

    • Exactly my point! He is actually surrounded in a valley full of poisonous snakes! Many Can’t see it, infact none of these opposition leasers will carry the day, if I were their adviser I would ask them to round themselves at the table to ask Parliament not to go through with the elections, it is just for a show!
Do you all in you wildest dreams believe that any of you will dribble these MFs in PF?
Get real and allow Scottie to run through to 2016 if he himself does’nt join his friend, boss, brother beyond the skies! Otherwise, Kaseba is going to be your president which I wouldnt mind and ready to support, though you all will cry till 2016, byeeeeeeeeeee.

  57. It’s like wanting to play Rugby, you gotta get ready to get bruised. Dr. Kaseba I hope you have stamina enough to withstand those hard tuckles! Let the game begin

  58. Sata was the worst president Zambia has ever had in that he relished on tribalism, family tree, lies, deception, hatred, retribution, vindictiveness, insults and he was a dictator. If Sata ever developed Zambia I agree only to the extent that he raised prices of mealie meal, sugar, fuel, and cost of production. He failed to deliver a people driven constitution and has put no money in people’ pockets. It is therefore an insult to most Zambians for people to be lying that pf should continue. Pf and mmd are anathema.

  59. Our people say that how a man is mourned signifies how he lived!! Thus the confusion and chaos that is going post the man’s demise is telling of the chaos in his life (MHISRP). The Satas have had their fill, its time to get inspirational leadership to take over from these tribal thieves. We are worse off than we were before Sata came into power; in debt, more corrupt, spent money we did not have and mortgaged the country to the Chinese. Road programme Link 8000 was good, but look at the stealing that happened behind!

  60. PF under Edgar Lungu will take the bad taste of Sata, from our, ‘minds’ mouth.

Sadly, this family needs to be culled from the political field and that should be Lungu’s first task.

They have enjoyed Sata’s presence on the political field and we understand that they have had a large chunk of their identity fall away. It is this void they are attempting to fill.

Edgar Lungu has the majority support in the party, it’s clear. The party members have chosen him and supporthim.

The problem is the Sata family. They are causing pandemonium BECAUSE clearly they do not support Edgar. If Christine can begin her campaign by explaining why she feels Edgar is not suited, why her son and other family are not suited; it will go a long way in helping her understand the futility of her…

    • If Christine can begin her campaign by explaining why she feels Edgar is not suited, why her son and other family are not suited; it will go a long way in helping her understand the futility of her standing on the Unity ticket.

It is her and her family who is causing the rift in the party.

It is her and her family that will cause MPs to leave and join other parties…..more by elections.

    • @ Patriot Abroad

Your analysis has helped me begin to appreciate why some people in PF want Lungu to take-over the leadership of the party. But is there more to it besides? Why Lungu and not anybody else, taking into consideration the fact that Lungu, as some are claiming, is a drunkard and bedeviled by a loathsome past? You mean PF has no better people outside the Sata family besides Lungu?

  61. Whereas late president was a hardcore politician, Mama Kaseba was a hardcore cancer activist- a medical practitioner. The two were different professionals living under the same roof. It is wrong to insinuate that she has the vision of what Sata had. The vision Sata had is enshrined in the PF manifesto or may have gone with him since there was only but one Sata. I wonder if the former first lady has read a single word of what the PF manifesto talks about. Use other campaign slogan other than that of Sata. In my boots you have just made a decision to become a politician you have never been.

  62. Power hungry members of PF central committee are driving the party into extinction with their street way of handling issues. It is sad to see a strong party being killed by greedy individuals without vision for both their party and the nation.

  63. Truth be told, we have no obligation to vote PF back into power. We never should have voted them in in the first place!
The fact that over 10 people from the same party (and family forest) could not decide on one candidate is a HUGE red flag that the party would not hold together when it comes to running the country.
If they were serious about this, they should have quietly selected a single presidential candidate, selected a running mate (VP), a minister of defense, finance, etc. That way, we all see that they are united and focused.
Let us vote wisely this time and vote PF out once and for all!
So roads have been built, which administration did not build roads — let us not vote with our stomachs, but let us vote with our minds — with sense.

    #OneZambia

  64. Is this not the same wife who had run away from her home and it had to take ‘alangizi’ to bring her back to State House.
Sata had shared a bed with a number of other women and I just hope all of them will not make claim to this confused PF presidency.
Kaseba has to apply our ‘ubuntu’ here and not be cheated by these hungry wolves. What identifies a people is their culture. We have a way of doing things and that is why she continued living with Sata while the man had a chain of other women including I believe serving PS.
So Kaseba has to learn to behave like a respected Zambia lady because she carries the face of Zambia.

  65. Comments
    1. Mumbi Phiri tells us that Emma Chibesakunda is her aunt from Chinsali and NOT Sata’s sister from Mpika. Makes sense and the Emma lady has not denied it. Unless she was one of the concubines but afraid to state so for obvious readons. But please spare us these lies, no shika abafwa hi donchi kubeba shuwa mwe bantu.
    2. Give me a chance to save PF from collapse – Kaseba.
Come clean doctor, is this another way of you admitting that you contributed to this problem in PF by hiding your husband’s illness and leading to his death from stress , or heart attack as Mulenga has put it.

Guiltiness has a way of coming into the open ka, in ways that are unexpected and embarrassing.
