Share

Government says it will swing into action to deal with people that will fail to complete their buildings in Lusaka once the grace period that was given to them by the Lusaka city council has expired.

Local Government and housing Minister, Benny Tetamashimba said this in an interview with ZANIS.

Mr. Tetamashimba said the owners of the buildings must ensure they complete their structures within the time that has been given to them by the Lusaka City Council or else have their buildings seized.

Mr. Tetamashimba further said the Ministry of Local Government and Housing has a fixed grace period within which all the people that acquire land must complete constructing their structures.

He advised people who acquire land from the Ministry of lands to ensure they build their structures within the given period.

  1. Government should start with Dag Hammarskjöld Stadium in Ndola

Power corrupts, but absolute power corrupts absolutely.

  2. Yes No 3 you are absolutely right, they should start with Mulungushi University, CBU, UNZA, Dag, Independo, Chipata-Mchinji Railway and all the unknown structures which are still incomplete. For all I know all feeder roads from Mbereshi-Kawambwa-Mporokoso-Shibwalya Kapila) Nseluka-Kayambi -Mambwe Mission- Mwenzo roads were still incomplete when I drove through them in 2003, despite the donors having completed their part. If these are still incomplete, reposses them, and give them away. Dont ask me where, and why.

  3. On “Mr. Tetamashimba said the owners of the buildings must ensure they complete their structures within the time that has been given to them by the Lusaka City Council or else have their buildings seized“, I am with you GRZ. Minister Teta. you have proved to be a Real MAN OF ACTION and continue doing so.

Near Kafue roundabout, there was a dilapidated looking building which was not completed for many year, but now it is completed and professional insurance used it as a very nice building which gives Lusaka a nice face amidst dirty stuff. Can we please emulate those who completed that building I have mentioned so that Lusaka can look presentable as our Capital City.

Also, let this exercise be extended to the rest of the country where it has not been implemented yet.

  4. Kasama boy is 1984 your friend you have the same little flag. Tell him to stop watching Mad max, Cyborg part 2, Robocop; those things corrupt lol. You make my day 1984, start contributing solutions too, wayofya bantu maningi. You and Malama poetry would make a good couple, because home girl has Shakespearian fever. This should have happened in the eighties, starting nachi complex cu-Avondale. Kasama boy you feel my pain on all the above mentioned.

  5. WOW, lets speak and act, this is the same Government that has failed to complete Dag Hammersjoed stadium for ages. For sure start with yourselves- Bwana Tetamashimba and stop abusing your power. And before you start reposessing MR Tetamashimba, have a dialogue with the people who own the land and find out why they are not building. This government fails to even host any games for lack of a decent stadium, SHAME ON YOU!! How many structures has this government failed to complete in the past? Please don’t start throwing stones if you actually live in a glass house. Maybe you have land for personal interest – we know these things

  6. I don’t like the language of referring everything to the future by politicians. Why not say “we have reposed the unfinished structures”. or we have done this or that …

  7. That is so funny. Why doesn’t govt first ask a question why those buildings are unfinished? Thereafter, if it is a question people lack of funds govt should provide guaranteed loans so that even after they have put in such an intervention people do not finish their buildings, then it is justifiably right to reposes such buildings especially that govt will have even to recover the money borrowed by defaulters. And Mr Teta’s assumption is that what is obtainingnow may not recur after they give out to other people, which is a wrong one. The only explanation about repos is that powerful and corrupt elements will get those structures only to be sold to foreigners because even them may not be able to complete the structures – only if they use underhand methods to acquire money for building

  8. Ba Teta do you know that those pipo who haven’t finish building have more than ten plots in Lusaka. and most of them work for the council.
