RB trips meant to attract investment — Chilambwe

Share

MMD Copperbelt provincial chairperson Joseph Chilambwe has said President Rupiah Banda’s trips to China and other countries are meant to attract investments that would help develop the various sectors of the economy and improve people’s lives in the country.

He said it was unrealistic for some opposition politicians to criticise the president unnecessarily and make political capital out of his foreign trips.

He said President Banda was travelling to meet other presidents and international companies so that he could attract investments to Zambia and help create employment, especially among the youth.

Mr Chilambwe said this on Saturday at Bulangililo Basic School in Kwacha Constituency in Kitwe, when he addressed party members and residents during a meeting organised by Copperbelt MMD task force member, Joe Malanji.

He said some opposition politicians had failed to articulate issues in the country and had now resorted to demonising Mr Banda in some sections of the media regardless of whatever good things he does.

“When President Banda travels, they say he went to China on holiday. This is being petty and I hope Zambians can see the ignorance and pettiness of some opposition politicians.

“President Banda’s trips to some countries are meant to sign agreements that would help develop various sectors of the economy and improve people’s lives,” Mr Chilambwe said.

Earlier, Mr Malanji donated 10 mobile phones and 200 Chitenge materials to the party, and urged the members to continue supporting the MMD because it was the only party with a national character and a vision for the country.

Mr Malangi said opposition politicians attacking President Banda for his trips were just exposing their ignorance because a leader needed to move to market his country, and win the confidence of foreign investors.

He said it was sad that there was so much desperation among some opposition politicians such that they had resorted to insulting President Banda and telling lies about the MMD Government.

“It is mere desperation on the part of the opposition politicians which is making them insult President Banda and criticise him for working hard to improve people’s lives.

“They are doing all sorts of things because they are unsettled by the good works of the ruling party, and the problem is that they are even using youths to incite violence in the country,” Mr Malanji said.

  1. What is there to say? RB has just pulled his last hope of any sane Zambian’s good will.
This clot has no priorities set for himself. Seriously, Rupiah should not be president any time to come.

  2. The problem with Zambians is we like to accept things without facts. Can Chilambwe please give us a low down on how mant investors have committed so far. The president can make such trips once in a while but three times in a month is outrageous

  3. He was not met by the presido of China when he arrived there. He is not met by the Namibian presido. What does that tell u. What a joke 4 a president.

This is sad it is not even funny!!

  4. Why go all the way to lure investors when you have failed to improve the local scenario? Since when did a president become the foreign affairs expert? What are those in such ministries doing? Indeed what investment has come from these ridiculous trips. He is touring more than tourists do. Improve what is in your house so that as you go out looking for help, you can rest assured that you shall be assisted. Cry Beloved Zambia :(( I will be the saddest if Bwezani retains the seat in 2011. How much does he spend even on a short trip to Malawi? And you mean to tell me that such monies could not be utilised in his flooded city. Even the State House surroundings are clumsy. What a head of state heading to ………

  5. There are serious crises facing the country and the president is busy gallivanting. This shows lack of seriousness in the President. Almost 1,000 people have been displaced by the floods and somehow, this is not being viewed as a disaster. The man is busy wining and dining in Namibia while he has left people suffering back home! What, he is attracting investment from Namibia as well? The man should get focused.

  6. Chilambwe, we are fed up with bootlickers like you, deep down your heart you know you are not being honest. What investment has this president brought to Zambia, ZERO. Take a look at the USA, a highly developed country, since Obama came into office he has worked day and night for the well being of the Americans and has had to cancel some trips to attend to urgent business. He has just successfully pushed through some health reforms for the benefit of all particularly those who can’t afford health insurance. #1 Tente has rightly put it, why can’t our president delegate? Spends 99% taking off and landing in foreign lands.

  7. Fart fart fart fart and fart!!!!!!Fart fart fart fart and fart!!!!!!Fart fart fart fart and fart!!!!!!Fart fart fart fart and fart!!!!!!Fart fart fart fart and fart!!!!!!Fart fart fart fart and fart!!!!!!Fart fart fart fart and fart!!!!!!

  8. Vupwitsi ivi chabe. People without substance should not comment on this. It pains to hear someone supporting blindly.

  9. come on #4 it is quite funny, these other presidents are all busy and they hear the Challenger coming and they say “oh no not this tourist again!”

  10. iwe joseph chilambwe my former school mate at mporokoso secondary school. You don’t even know what you are talking about what development has RB OR MMD given you? you are just praising RB pantufye ulelwisha ka big post forget you won’t get. Deep down your heart you know that RB has done nothing to boast about apart from gallivanting all over

    :-?:-?:-?8-|:d/:)>-:d

  11. This was a government trip. Why should it be a party cadre to tell us what the President went out to achieve? We want to hear from the technical guys at the ministries represented. Let them give us a plausable cost/benefit analysis of each of these trips. The Chilambwe types can screem as much as they want but it all means ZERO. It just confirms that they don’t even know what they are doing. This is not his responsibility.

  12. My foot, which investor can be attracted to a Chorela infested, flooded town were roads are almost impassable. Egypt attracts some of the highest foreign direct investmets in Africa, how many times does Mubarak travel out?

Foreign travel be president is ok, but not where u leave serious problems at home. You dont go out when kids are drowning, pipo are dying chorela, etc. What investment can you attract with such a broken down system?

  13. Chilambwe, when the whites came to Africa, there was no RB, they just smelled the wealth and came. The Senegalese(Ba Sene Sene) did not need RB they just smelled the emeralds and they came. What do you know about investment apart from barking iwe Mumbwe.
