Unites States of Africa is possible

Share

Former President, Kenneth Kaunda says the continent is on the move to realise the dream of a United States of Africa.

Dr. Kaunda said regional groupings like COMESA, SADC and Economic Community for West African States are working towards achieving this goal.

He said although he would like to see the dream achieved quickly there are a lot of things involved and that it takes a lot of time to achieve that goal.

Dr. Kaunda appealed to Africans to be patient as African leaders are determined to achieve the one Africa dream.

He said for a long time women have been marginalised all over the world and that slave trade negatively affected black Americans in the United States of America.

This is why he was happy that two people coming from two different marginalised groups are running for President in the USA.

He said it was pleasing to see that Barack Obama a Black American and Hillary Clinton a woman are running for the Presidency.

  1. Racist Obama cartoon

    Category: Racism

Obama caricature: The presidential candidate is shown painting the White House black. Now, isn’t that just plain stupid! The text is in Hebrew so I haven’t the faintest idea of what is being said, but the cartoon is unambiguous enough.

Leon Hadar has pointed me to a racist cartoon of Barack Obama that appeared in Ma’ariv, an Israeli newspaper, showing Obama painting the White House black.

Hadar writes that the cartoon is a further effort by Israelis to question whether “Obama is good for the Jews.” I think it’s worse. The black paint is a kind of “schwarzer” joke, to use the Yiddish word for blacks that I grew up hearing. It isn’t funny.

  3. Thanks Jurist. Who ever says black is bad is indeed bad themselves wether they are Israelists, God chosen people or any other race. Why should we suffer and mind you, we are not black but copper coloured brownish and so whoever uses the word black on me i just tell it in their faces how stupid they are. if they are whites i say u look pink like pigs.

  4. It is a good concept to have one government in Africa but your execllence i dont think it is possible. We have too many tribes ,ethnic groupings, etc but most important of all Africans are too greedy or selfish. We dont like seeing our friends progress. Look at Why KK was voted out. Main reason he was helping other countries get independence, (ii) look at Thabo Mbeki, Black South Africans are not happy with him because of his African rennaissance ideology, i doubt if Gaddaffi is popular locally with his African dream.Africans just dont love each other, period

  5. have u heard that the MMD IS DEAD in kanyama they have lost which shows that they have gone under.MMD has lost direction and too bad that the zambian pipo now kn that they have a very uncaring govt in the name of the MMD VIVA PF AND JERRY CHANDA AND THE UWATO TEAM WE SALUTE U MR SATA

  6. Ba KK mulefyaya ukuba ba presdo of United States of Africa eco mwalandila at your will like the ‘dream achieved quickly’. ALA CHALIPWA NSHIKULU MWALILILA PALIFULA!!!

  7. #9 PF has a dim future.A one man show dies quickly. The sata is broke we will see where you will hold ur meetings .. ops I thought these meetings take place at his house or office in town.

  8. I CONFIRM THAT THE PF HAS WON THE KANYAMA SIT AND COL CHANDA IS THE NEW MP.THEY WERE FOLLOWED BY MMD THE UPND THE ULP FOLLOWED BY UNIP,FDD AND THEN GNP AND THE DIFFRENCE BETWEEN THE WINNER AND THE SECOND MMD CANDIDATE WAS ABT 800 VOTES BT THE TOTAL VOTES CAST WAS 12,345,000 SO VOTES WERE SPLIT COZ OF THE MANY CANDIDATES

  9. Congratulations to PF for winning the Kanyama by-election. Hard nosed positions when faced by a cruel collection of thieves in the government will always win people’s hearts. Sata has been consistent in his position by opposing the mmd on each and every turn given their treacherous act of selling off Zambia to foreigners.

  10. We don’t need a United States of Africa bamudala!!pliz, let sleeping dogs lie…Gadaffi shud just go his way with his Arabic issues…let him join EU if he likes….let Africa live the way it’s been …

  11. Chuchu how does it feel to know that pipo around you dont want you and your Mad Muwelewele Devils party. Kanyama have shown how much you hated and your party. Despite you holding a big rally a day before election, your party still lost! Shamu shamula!! You will never get a sit in Lusaka until you time comes to end 2011! I KNOW IT’S PAINFUL BUT IT IS THE TRUTH.

  12. CHUCHU, DESPITE YOUR PARTY CADRES CARRYING PANGAS , MACHETES YOUR PARTY CARRIED TO ATTACK THE OPPOSITION IT DID NOT WORK IN KANYAMA! HA HA AHAAAAAAAAA AWIIIII!!

  13. CHUCHU, REMEMBER DESPITE YOU BEING A MAD MUWELEWELE DEVILS PARTY PRESDO, YOU ARE ALSO A REPUBLIC PRESDO OF ZED, WHICH BELONGS TO ALL ZEDIANS, INCLUDING KANYAMA PIPO. MR CHUCHU SIR, KANYAMA PIPO NEEDS DEVELOPMENT DESPITE YOUR PARTY LOSING! YOUR THREAT NOT TO TAKE DEVELOPMENT TO KANYAMA, FOR NOT VOTING FOR YOUR PARTY IS CHILDISH!!

  14. Sorry fellows blogers, I discussed Kanyama here instead of USA issue, its bcoz LT is slow to bring the PF Victory which I know they still bring!!

  15. LUSAKA TIMES IS LETTING US DOWN.AS AN ONLINE NEWS DISPENSER, UPDATES SHOULD BE CARDINAL. WE AN UPDATE ON THE HAPPENINGS AT LEAST EVERY HOUR OR AS THEY HAPPEN DEPENDING ON THE IMPORTANCE OF THE EVENT.PLEASE,PLEASE BA LUSAKA TIMES UPDATE US ON THE RESULTS IN KANYAMA.

  16. # 20 you right, Lusaka times needs to change how they operate. We need update on the news as it comes. An important event like an election result should take up priority than KK talking about USA.

  17. WHAT IS THE PRIME OBJECTIVE OF LUSAKA TIMES? IS IT SUPPOSED TO BE FOR NEWS UPDATE OR TO DO NEWS REPORTS? IF IT OPERATES AS A NEWS UPDATE FORUM IT COULD EVEN BE COMMERCIALISED.BUT THE WAY IT OPERATES IS ALMOST LIKE SOMEONE IS ON A PART TIME JOB.IT TAKES OVER 6 HOURS TO UPDATE AND MOST NEWS DOES NOT INTEREST THE MASSES THAT IS WHY YOU FIND PIPO BRINGING TOPICS NOT INITIATED BY LT.LUSAKA TIMES SHOULD JUDGE AT THE RESPONSE BEING RECEIVED ON A TOPIC THEN DECIDE WETHER IT IS NEWS WORTHY. IN SHORT WE WANT TO KNOW THE RESULTS IN KANYAMA

  18. i thinki US Africa is achievable and i look forward to see it happen, this is because once we have a strong africa will have a strong nation that no western country will come and tell us what to with with their tumapety loans and grants etc so that they take our natural resources away. Its also imperative that the US africa will dictate ist natural resource prices on the london metal exchange etc. infact we dont need this mazungu once we have our strong africa, africa one nation by KK

  19. Once more, even though i look forward to see the US Africa i dont want to see pety leaders who will give it to the west for selfish reasons like we have seen hapening in many african nations, history bears my witness. bazungu puts their greedy together for the benefit of the their countries e.f EU so why cant we africans do the same for the benefits of our mother nations? period.

  20. I dont know if most you guys remember. There was once a circulating article titled “new world order” about 8 years ago. was more than ten pages all basically outlining what is happening behind the scenes that leading to ushering in of one world governement and how the govt depts are going to function. Yeah it is possible to have a US Africa, but I think it is worth noting what that is going to mean for you and I. You cant have a US Africa without having to be bow to a united africa law. If this sounds like a joke, take a moment to look through UN archived documents and ses for your self how it is going to affect you. A US Africa is just a step towards the one govenment idea.

  21. The major issues they will have to look or interest in the NWO agenda, are: politics-or global governance (which entail a world court, global tax, global police and military force), economics and religion. work is being done in the politicak arean un the flag of UN through groups such as: Trilateral commission, Council of foreign relations, royal institute of international affairs, the bilderbergers, and the club of rome; whose members constitute of political and influencial world leaders.

  22. What that interprets into day to day life, is that shuld bemba and ngoni start a fight, the word police and global military decides on what to do whether that be killings every single person. It is total opossite of democracy, in real democracy power lies with the people, but this system if success, power resides with state. The global religion’s leader will have easy access to police and military powers, hence what is hoped to be taught or achieved if pthe masses are not following, will be enforced by military forces etc. it will be like history during the dark ages, repeating itself shuld all steps towards One word Govt (which US AFrica is part) becomes a reality.

  23. Awe twakana USA tatulefyaya impasase, fyebeni twaliba abachibote mu Zed!!! I have in mind Rwanda, Kenya, Sudan and so forth!!!!

  24. It never ceases to amaze me the level of lack of critical thought that prevails in Zambia. I don’t know whether it is illiteracy or it is because we spend much of our time drinking beer in stead of watching news and reading. I don’t follow Kaunda just because he is our statesman. There are a lot of foolish fathers out there. United States of Africa should be consigned where it is right now – a mere fantasy which nobody should ever think of enacting. For example,I certainly would not want to share borders with Sudan or Libya or Nigeria or boers of South Africa. Call me a racist, or tribalist I don’t care!! I have worked hard to bring Zambia where it is today and nobody will have it for free!!

  25. The Old man KK, with the Nkrumahs and Nyereres was one of the fathers of the concept of Pan Africanism. He is not in anyway deviating from his philosophy here. The tendency by people to want to isolate themselves rather negatively as Anonymous #28 is attempting to do leads to stupid beliefs that one group of people is different (or special) from others then it progresses to the genocide of those seen to be inferior. Rwanda, Kenya Sudan can happen even in Zambia. We are all people. We are the same. Bloodshed doesn’t reside in East Africa or West Africa or North Africa. If we are aware of this we should then protect our values positively.

  26. Let us, as an example, look at the former East African Community of Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania. What happened…Why did it fail? Are those countries any closer today than they were at independence? What transpired between Tanzania and Zanzibar? Why is Zanzibar always looking over its shoulder? Right next to these countries is a number of civily unstable “NATIONS” including Rwanda and Burundi, Sudan, Somalia, Ethiopia/Eritria etc…Can someone please explain how they foresee a viable african ‘USA’ Given such scenerios without even taking into account the current strife in Kenya?

  27. I am worried to realize that sometimes huge govts. have proved too difficult to manage particullay if people off different religious and cultural backgrounds are made to co-exists. This has lead to splits i.e Yugoslavia, Ethipia/Eritrea. Currently the problem in Sudan is racism, Arabs vs non-Arabs. I look at the poverty in New Orleans amongst blacks exposed by Hurrican Katrina, Poverty of the multitudes in India, China, etc shows how difficult to distribute wealth to all in a huge empire! The split of past empires into many nations brought us where we are today. The EU started small and prescribed benchmarks for one to join. Our benchmarks seem to be nothing but emotions! Namala ndine winu!

  28. Bana bakwithu, small governments are easier to operate as long as their is good governance. Religious fanatism is another source of divisions which is very difficult to work with. It enslaves the mind. I dont believe Africa can unite if slavery long abolished in the west is still being practised in Sudan. It was sad to see some western chaps buying back the slaves from Arab masters to return them to South sudan on some TV documentary. I wonder how still issue has eluded the media so much! Simply put, Arabs consider themselves more superior than Sub-saharan Africans, Moslem North and Christian south may fight jihad wars again. Our economic management issues are so diverse to bring together!

  29. Mwana wakwithu Zozo. You may have an argument over small governments being easier to run but not always. Lesotho, the CAR Equatorial Guinea are small governments that have proved difficult to run. However, a United States of Africa brings with it the might of pooled resources, expertise, ease of entrepreneural movement, and economic muscle to make Africa another China. Also remember, the USA is not supposed to usurp all powers from national governments. These so-called national governments can still exist and make their own development plans. The blog is not big enough to expound on such a subject.

  30. US of Africa is but a pipedream that will never materialise. We’ve failed to efficiently run our individual small govt’s, and you think we can run a federation of States? Who will be our supreme leader? official language & religion? The way I see it, way too many complexities to fathom. The AU framework is our best bet to fostering cooperation between member states.

  31. KK has got a good point… you can not prosper in this globalised world if you are fighting a lone battle with well organised foes like the US,EU etc.

Fighting as a group is the way forward… why don’t we start with the now defunct federation of Rhodesia & Nyasaland, here in central africa just like the EAST AFRICA COMMUNINTY.

This is because the integration is already here … i.e this is the most united part of africa.Or am I dreaming??

  32. Yanga Iam one of just such dreamers. Dreams are there to be realised. Just as Zambia is known for one product, Copper, Africa is full of such one product countries. If we come together and pool these resources we are going to have the kind of muscle that noone can ignore. We will be a country that noone pushes around. We will open up the competitive spirit amongst our citizens we will create a business playground so big we wont need to buy anything elsewhere.

  33. Neuter – you have a good point! In fact, FOR US to have access to the sea, we need to pull in Mozambique as well so that the Central African Block(CAB) can be self sufficient. With such a huge, fertile land, resource rich, intelligent people, CAB could be a force to be reckoned with. Zimbabwe has a very good industrial base that can produce practically anything for us with minimal imports for CAB.

Now that the Resource Nationalism strategy is becoming more and more pronounced, CAB will be a force to BE reckoned with… because of THE ABUNDANCE of natural resources like platinum, uranium, copper, gold, chrome, coal, oil, fish, fertile virgin land, wildlife etc

    THIS IS POSSIBLE…!
