Former Zambia international midfielder Gift Kampamba has rejoined promoted Nkana seven years after he left the club to play abroad.

Kampamba has began training with the team with Nkana officials confirming that the midfield will be registered for the 2008 campaign.

He was influential in Nkana’s two league title wins in 1999 before signing with Sundown’s in mid 2000 after some an impressive performance against the Pretoria club in the Caf Africa Champions League.

The midfielder left Nkana in 2000 on a journey that took him to South Africa where he played for Mamelodi Sundowns for three seasons before moving to Russian club Rostov.

He had a brief stint in Malaysia in 2005 before moving back to South Africa where he played for City Pillars.

Kampamba played for the Zambia national team from 2000 to 2005.

In other news, striker Elson Mkandawire set to miss Saturdays Charity Shield semifinal match against Kabwe Warriors due to injury.

Mkandawire is a subject of a dispute between Zesco and his club Power Dynamos whom he left in the off-season for the defending league champions.

He has received temporal clearance from Power to play in Zesco’s Caf Africa Champions League games while the Kitwe club and Zesco resolve their impasse over his transfer.

Mkandawire scored on his debut for Zesco last Saturday against Uganda Revenue Authority in their first leg, preliminary round meeting in the Caf Africa Champions League game played in Kampala.

Zesco won the game 2-0 and will host URA in Ndola next Saturday in the final return leg.

  1. Okay, so Ba Kampamba ba bwela ku Nkana. Interesting. Bushe tabapwafye bawishi aba? You just waited for Nkana to be promoted to Super Division. Oh how fun!

  2. Kampamba was one of the best midfielders to have come out of Zambia but he was unpatriotic sometimes when he was needed the most.Motherland is the best place Gift.

  3. I met Gift last Month in Kitwe at His cafe in town.He is doing pretty good and he mentioned that he had three operations on his injury and that he was recovering.I hope he is fine and Nkana is a good starting point rather than aiming higher.I like this guy coz he is desciplined, cool and humble.Lotson Kilambe is back at Power Dynamos,Tana has been released by Sudan’s team,Elijah Tana is New coach for a newly promoted division one team Mining Rangers in Buchi Kitwe.

  4. Wow Ba Gift, this is the chap who used to hold FAZ and the national team to ransom for a 500 dollars not paid just because he was a pro. What is the value of that compared to what the country can do for you. See now all those great clubs have dumped and who is there to embrace you? Motherland.

I hope the other chaps learn from this. Your country is your country. Once all is said and done, that is all you got. Your home land. Play for patriotism. If you want get rich, become an expertriate, a professional or a derivative trader or a businessman. We work in Zambia for low wages because we want to build our country so it can be better, do the same please

  5. Gift showed so much promise but like many Zambian players ended up in inferior leagues. Zed players should like Nigerians, most of them start in places like Isreal or Russia but they work hard to move to better places. Zed players the problem is when they come back on holiday they become stars in Z and forget that fooball is a short career. Remember Evans Sakala?

  6. Guys in Zed, who has won in Kanyama? And is it possible to listen to ZNBC online? I always fail. Tell me how to do it.

  7. Ba Gift rejoining nkana will be disturbance to the team. They will soon start playing names instead of performances.

  8. Good to hear that football on the C/belt is once more showing signs of coming back to elite.

Talent pa Zed epoyaba nomba Administration eya twipaya…

  9. Super sport website reveal that chamanga has been given an offer by the norwegian club he went for trials stromgest IF and is expected to complete the signing next week but at the same time he has been given an improved contract at moroka swallows.last season that club was tenth on the 16 team log

  10. As for the forth coming faz elections i personally want someone who could mak faz self sustaining. One who would be able to sell and promote the zambian soccer internationally not cosafa issue no no,Kalusha has the conections but that guy is too occupied, hanif has magerial skills but he only knows south African Connections and atony kasolo a player seller.so looking at these facts and a few more not outlined here i think kalu should try

  11. Good news is that James Chamanga has been offered to sign for Stromsgodset IF in Norway, remember the club that was interested in Fwayo Tembo.

  12. What is there in Norway? He will just get finished. The decent leagues for start up in Europe is France, Portugal and Germany. Top clubs in Turkey and Greece are also good. These are ways to getting into more competitive ones like the premiership, Serie A and La Liga. Moreover he is 28.

  13. Bane, I think we would do well to be a little bit more realistic, especially when it comes to our football players and allowances. These guys play Football to earn a living, if you look at teams that have produced good results at tournaments, many factors come into play. These may include infrastructure, good administration and of course the welfare of players, which includes their allowances. These are due to the guys and I really do not see any reason why someone should be branded unpatriotic simply because they demand to be paid what is theirs. Let us bear in mind there’s always a possibility that each match a player features in could be their last!

  14. the observer: where was mikel before he went to chelsea in norway of course. roserborg a team in the same league as stromsgodset have played champions leaque soccer so for me it is a good start for him.mbesuma went straight to a tough legue and now look what happened? so let him play there for now and see how he improves.i also think that legue is better than absa legue in SA
