Share

North-Western Province Deputy Permanent Secretary, Nkolola Hazemba says there is urgent need to scale up HIV/AIDS preventive activities in the Province due to the increase in economic activities.

Mr. Hazemba said a lot of people from different places with various backgrounds have trekked to the province due to booming activities thereby posing a lot of challenges in the fight against HIV/AIDS.

The Deputy Permanent Secretary said this when he officially opened a one-day stakeholders consultative meeting on ”Development of the HIV Prevention Strategy” organized by National AIDS Council (N.A.C),in Solwezi today.

Mr.Hazemba implored all players to reflect on God’s plan for sex adding that it was intended to perpetuate the human race and not to be abused.

He warned that it was therefore wrong for people to abuse this gift of God by indulging in activities outside plans of the almighty.

Mr. Hazemba urged all participants from various sectors to prepare HIV prevention strategies that were inclusive of different interest groups for them to stand the test of time.

Speaking at the same meeting, N.A.C HIV Preventive Team Group Vice-Chairperson, Florence Mulenga said Government through N.A.C had embarked on a process to develop an evidence based HIV prevention strategy that was simple and actionable.

Ms Mulenga said with such actionable evidence based prevention strategy, the country hoped to achieve the Millennium Development Goal(M.D.G) number six on HIV/AIDS.

M.D.G number six focuses on combating HIV/AIDS, malaria and other diseases with targets such as halt and begin to reverse the spread of HIV/AIDS by 2015 and halt and begin to reverse incidences of malaria and other major diseases by 2015.

  1. Working at one company for more than 3 years in Joburg had shown me that AIDS is the most dangerouse disease ever. it ended the lives of a number of people I new very well. I
really hate this disease and I really don’t know what I can do to get black people to love themselves enough and protect there race.

  2. Listen! These are some of the consquences of wanting development so desperately that when get there we only think about beer and sex. Development is good but we have to plan ahead and make it a blessing not a curse. Stop blowing your money on Kachasu and women. Build a future for your children and family.

A BA MA TWI BONFWE. ALL THE BEST FRIENDS!!!!!!!!!!!!

  3. AIDS was planted in africa and they have managed to cause a genocide. People who brought the disease should be made accountable for their actions. A Panorama in UK showed how whites brought the disease and planted it in Zaire (DRC) as a polio vaccine. Their is need for our lawyers (and LAZ) to take the US and Britain to the International Criminal Court in The Hague so that they face justice. It will not bring back my aunt, uncles, relatives, friends and former workmates but at least they should be made to pay for their veil, repulsive actions.

  4. If anyone is to blame for the spread of AIDS, it is us the people who know that the virus is around but still do not abstain from ilicit sex. STOP KU GONA GONA AND YOU WILL LIVE!

THOSE ACUSATIONS OF PLANTING AIDS SHOULD NOT OVERSHADOW THE THE FACT THAT WE CAN AVOID GETTING INFFECTED.

  5. AIDS is real, however awareness is good but we should continue pointing fingers to those who brought this deadly disease to Africa because of being greed and selfish. We should shut loud so that the world know where they killer can from instead of blaming us for our sexual activities. Blacks should choose between children and being scared of a scourage brought about to kill us all because of our blessing from God. We are rich in everything and the robbers continue stealing.

  6. No. 4, don’t be thick…. Charlse Taylor is in The Hague today because of what he did, Milosovic was also brought to justice for his past misdeeds, the Nazi were brought to book and so should the people that have cause this misdeed.

HIV/AIDS is big business. The pharmacutical companies are making millions from contrceptives, TB and malaria drugs. Our economy is being eroded because of the huge loss of human resources. Child headed households are ever being made and their prospects of earning a future decent living are eroded. The people that caused tis genocide should be brought to africa to face justice. They should be placed in chimbwakaila or remand

  7. Mwomeneni. We used to be healthy. Not until the mines came with Bembas. Now the bembas are infecting us. Awe mwe.

  8. #7 whya do you have to bring tribal issues in this? stop the blame game. AIDS IS REAL AND WE HAE SEEN THE EFFECTS. YES IT WAS PLANTED IN AFRICA SO THAT WHEN SO MANY AFRICANS DIES THE WHITES CAN RETURN AND RULE, ITS OBVIOUS AFRICA SUSTAINS THE WORLD SUPER POWERS. BRITAINS ECONOMY IS CRUMBLING.
lets stop preaching the use a condom message, abstanance is the best thing.

  9. Legislature should enact strict laws on prostution and soliciting. We have so many prostituts today in zambia and we all know that there’s no law that allows them to do their work yet we keep quiet.
Political will can bring sanity to North western.Lets work together in combating this! churches, schools, kingdoms, ets talk about Aids and never get tired.

  10. Whilst many NGOs are doing a lot in the fight against HIV/AIDS, the politicians are not doing enough. We need legislation to be enacted to punish those wilfully infecting others with the virus. Here in Canada, if you know you are ++++ and sleep with someone without informing him/her, you are charged with aggravated sexual assault even if your partner is not infected. So, people who are ++++ don’t sleep anyhow but in Zed some ministers, Presidents have 3,4 wives and sleep anyhow.

  11. ohh yes HIV& AIDS is around us, victimising each other will not not help but working on the contributing factors like poverty is very vital, lets not vote for leaders who just sing to us and do little action because the MDGs are intertwined, for us to achive one which is to reduce poverty will help us to reach the rest.Beultiful energetic poor young women we find in these bars have full information about the virus which causes AIDS, but some can’t help it coz they are ophans or widows who are keeping ophans they really try but they fail to sustain their lives( it’s better my children eats today and i die after 20 years is the answer given by some shame). Lets work as a team to fight this.

  12. Jeez
what a lot of self-righteous crap. Leave out the moral indignation. The facts are that if you enter a person’s vagina or anus without a condom, you are likely to get aids if that person is infected, so just make sure you either use a condom or think of some other ways to have sex.

  13. shi mine you can’t run away from AIDS shi mine is getting a lot of cash, what else is in north western for them to do apart from drinking beer and girls.so long it stands you are in danger my bro only abstanance is the way out.

  14. lets realise that they succeded in blinging AIDS to Africa because of team work and there target was not shi mine neither was it ba kafundisha or any one else but you and i therefore lets stand together and fight a wining battle .Remember united we stand and devided we fall… wake up shine Zed!
