AL HILAL SHOW ZESCO THE DOOR

Zesco United this afternoon bowed out of this years Caf Africa Champions league after drawing 1-1 at home with Al Hilal of Sudan in the two teams 1st round, return leg match played at Trade Fair Ground in Ndola.

2007 Caf Africa Champions League semifinalists Al Hilal qualify to the 2nd round 3-1 on aggregate to see Zesco ejected after two rounds in their debut participation of the same tournament.

Al Hilal took the lead in the 43rd minute through Ahmed Adil who scored his second goal of the competition this season after finding the net in the first leg between the two teams played a fortnight ago in Khartoum that the Sudanese champions whom 2-0.

Zesco’s consolation goal came 14 minutes after the break through a penalty converted by striker Enoch Sakala who finally scored his first competitive goal of the year.

The result leaves Green Buffaloes as Zambia’s sole representative in the Africa this season.

Buffaloes are away tomorrow, Sunday in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe to face Highlanders in the Caf Confederations Cup 1st round, final leg match.

The two teams are locked at 1-1 from the first leg played a fortnight ago at Nkoloma Stadium in Lusaka.

  2. according to the latest classification of the International Federation of Football (FIFA) Alhilal of of sudan is one of the best African teams, it is the third in africa , therefore there is no comparison between al hilal of sudan and zesco of zambia in fitness and tactics, and of course it was expected to qualify Ahilal of sudan due to his long experience in African competitions, please do not cry Dear Zambians.

  4. Well said GP! These guys are clearly geared up for the Champions league being very solid in every department. No reason why Zambia can’t produce a team of similar standards in the future. We must aim to do so.

  6. Iam Sorry , Please no need politics or religion hates this is a footbal which means sport may be the second year the table rounds to Al hilal or any sudanese team against any Zambian tems, We need the share vthe love and peace between us ( Afrian) through this competitions.
