Expel Ms. Moonga Chililabombwe Youths petition

Share

MMD Youths in Chililabombwe has joined other party members that are calling for the expulsion of suspended Nationl Executive Committee Member Ms. Christine Moonga .

Chililabombwe MMD Youths today petitioned the party NEC to expel Ms. Moonga for alleged misconduct and lack of remorse during her suspension.

Chililabombwe Youth Chairperson Enock Kapalu said Ms Moonga had not shown remorse in her response to her suspension and had continued to show indiscipline and lack of respect for the party and Republican President, Levy Mwanawasa.

Ms Moonga, who was a party nominated NEC member, was last week suspended from the party after she issued a press statement accusing President Mwanawasa of practicing tribalism.

In a statement made available to ZANIS in Chililabombwe , Mr Kapalu said Ms Moonga should have channeled her concerns through the relevant party organs unlike issuing press statements as the act may influence people to rise against the President.

He pointed out that calling President Mwanawasa a tribalist might lead other people to rise against him and the rurling party.

The Youth leader alleged that Ms. Moonga is being used by people who want to put the name of the President into public ridicule .

“ In her response to the suspension, Ms Moonga did not show remorse hence our call for her to be expelled,’ he said.

Mr Kapalu urged all MMD members to respect the President and refrain from forcing him to discipline Finance Deputy Minister Jonas Shakafuswa as his case was being handled through proper channels.

He stressed Mr. Shakafuswa’s case is currently being handled by a committee under the Speaker of the National Assembly hence the resolve by the President not to intervene till the process was completed.

  1. These youths are just being manipulated by their senior bootlickers to appear to chuchu that they have a a so called good youth leadership in their constituencies..shame on you *****s abusing and corrupting the minds of our poverty stricken and starved youths

  2. interesting behaviour from a nominated member???? i would be interested in hearing what brought this all about….was she passed over for a job by a percieved family tree member or is this just her opinion at the minute. one wonders the timing of her outburst given that LPM has been appointing people (including her)since 2001 !!!!

  3. Helpless, ignorant and confused a lot C/bomwe MMD youths, Hands off Ms.Moonga.You should know that in ademocratic socioety, people are entitled to personal views. It not up to Ms.Moonga to apologise to anybody for merely putting across her views. What for? The onus is now on Levy mwanawasa to proof otherwise.Let him sho us that he is not a tribalist. You might not be aware that alot of us share Ms.Moonga’s views on this matter. To Enock Kapulu I say misleading ignorant youths in C/bomwe is not the best way to look for a job.Do not opportunistically exploit those jobless youths for personal benefit.Levi is a tribalist..!

  4. Moonga is not alone. she is a front being used by Katele Kalumba a thief. both the youths and Moonga are wrong! to hell with them!

  5. #9 ST There is always a way of putting your point across than being obscene. I get your point and feel the same way you are feeling. You know what? There are very few people who would put up a stance like Mrs Moonga. Hands down for Mrs Moonga. People should say what is right regardless.

  6. The wrong person is been vented on here. These youths are supposed to be ridiculing the amoral minister. She makes an honourable mistake and everyone wants her head on a platter. The man with a peverse point of view on women goes scot free. Thats just wrong people. Obviously some youth leader is out there trying to score points for favours from the head of state.

  7. which youths are they talking about??????
Is there any youth here in Chilabombwe who knows MMD???
Ms MOonga is brave & Needs to Join PF!
    A party for Brave Zedians!

  8. Ms Moonga, do not worry about such youths. Its a bunch of disillusioned chaps who have been paid by the pipo who want to embarass u.

    Someone has bought them chibuku!!

  9. You see now why we can’t, as a nation develop? Instaead of talking about real issues (Our Teams are out of the Continental Competitions, Our Neighbours are fighting a tyrant, we have ‘discovered minerals’, Independence stadium works, etc), we are wasting time on political nonsense. Thos Chililabombwe youths can provide cheap labour at Independence Stadium or indeed, pick up the mountains of garbage from our streets. How do they even get so much press coverage?

  10. BRAVO MOONGA. SHAME FIRST TO WOMEN AND THOSE STUPID YOUTHS ADVOCATING FOR EXPULSION.WOMEN INSULTED AND SUPORTED THE CULPRIT EVEN ENCOURAGED USELESS YOUTHS.

WE NEED WOMEN LIKE MOONGA WHO STAND FOR THERE RIGHT

  11. C/bomwe youths should woke up, leaders should learn to appreciate those who point out thier mistakes than a hode of bootlickers who sing priases even when someone errored, they help these leaders fall. Why not engage in productive activities than worsting energy on popularising Levy who has failed to empwoer you. Continue thinking like that and die in poverty while your influencers are amassing wealth, wokeup, work for your future. Don’t be reduced to scarebirds. Some of you even failed G12, even G9 and you busy promoting those who denied you access to youth empowerment funds that ended up being political tools. Shame, poor chaps…

  12. Mrs. Moonga you have been turned into a heroine by the demonstrators. Viva Mrs. Moonga aluta continua. We should not be afraid of telling the truth. The truth will set us free. Youths do not allow yourselves to be used by others.

I am at pains trying to grasp your reasoning why your main concern seem to focus on MS MOONGA`s motives.I find her position defensible whether her motives are right or wrong.Shakafuswa`s insults on the other hand are indefensible and that`s the reason people are questioning why Levy is shielding his nephew.

  14. Mrs Moonga, We are all with you. The Chililabombwe mmd youth are another set of misguided misfits that your party, MMD has been fast to grow and exploit. These youth have no laudable attributes other than their age. Their mental and intellectual growth can fit on a pin-head. They are easily swayed by the smell of Chibuku and the faint colour of the Kwacha. Do not lose hope on your principled stand. You represent the much needed women’s intellect and the missing wise voice from women on what our real causes to our national problems stem from.

Stand firm and since you are correct, the nation will make sure that you become the saint representing the crucial missing link for our better future

  15. if you are truly mrs Moonga, pliz we have better things to discuss and not your rantings!

  16. Zambia needs an Equal Opportunities Act. This act should stipulate the balance of tribes in any formal set up. In addition, Zambia needs a Tribal Discrimination Act, which should ensure no one is sidelined on the basis of his or her origin. If these tribal issues aren’t checked, they will cause another Kenya or Rwanda.

Our colleagues in West Africa, Nigeria in particular, learnt from the civil war in the sixty’s. So they have a special form of national service which focuses on breaking internal social barriers. I don’t mean ZNS, no.

Zambia is brewing an ethnic conflict and GOD forbid.

One Zambia One Nation. Zambia is for every Zambian.

  17. Shielding a nephew is not tribalism, people let’s defend our land, our democracy and the future of our children.
from deep down our hearts, we know that President Mwanawawasa has not practiced tribalism publicly and that the statements made by Ms Moonge were very dangerouse and she really deserved to be suspended. accusing someone of being a tribalist is like accusing someone of being a murderor so if you’ll be thinking of accusing someone of being a murderor anytime soon, you better make sure you’ve got all the evidence.

  18. The recent spate of demonstrations in the country by mmd blind followers date stamp the extent of unemployment. In a nation where at least 50% or above are in gainful employment no one would waste his/her valuable time backing a wrong horse(s). You see since independence Zambia’s workforce has always been around 600,000 or below 1million to be precise. Meaning the rest of the population has nothing to do and therefore susceptible/subjected to manipulation by those who have money, especially politicians. In busy countries citizens may not even know (or attend) when the president/prime minister is visiting their area. You see most Zambians are misguided because of poverty. Moonga you great.

  19. Shut up all you PF cadres. If you want Ms Moonga in PF why can’t you just and talk to her where tribalist is more prominent. She deserves to be fired.

  20. Baama mutajoki ansi mboziyandikana zintu obu mwamba masimpe shakafuswa utalikide chiindi kulicenjezya azwee !!!

  21. No no no. #28. It’s not about cadres. It’s about finding solutions. This issue of tribalism finger pointing can be traced as far as the Kaunda regime. Some Zambians claimed that Tumubukas were favored in KK’s regime.

Lets criticize at length and conclude on a note that contributes National Development. Dr. Mwanawasa is for sure an exceptional leader he also needs to be protected and corrected. Who knows, may be Moonga is the culprit. And only the laws of the land, if well formulated, can vindicate you. Your best reference.

The National agenda needs to be upheld. The national cake is for everyone to enjoy.

  22. I love prof mutengo, tangeable contributions, but who do you know its katele kalumba behind mrs moonga.
Quite well I agree, that there must be some fool like her pushin her around. She looks like a datsun 120 y.

  23. Christine Moonga has done even what men could not do. I expected women to stand by this exceptional woman who can take on a president head on. Whether she is right or wrong is not my point. But the courage to say what she said to a president gives much hope for Zambia. There would be nothing wrong in European or American politics to accuse a president. I hope she has the facts…that important because no one can talk such a statement against the preso without evidence. I think she has opened a new page where Zed can not fear any one, not even the Preso. Right or wrong, she has “balls” which men dont unfortunately have. I admire her courage.

  24. ba prof mutengo with all those degrees and still you dont know simple….english like right and wrong shame on you

  25. #35, Moonga should be a voice for the fight against domestic violence and child abuse if she has balls. Let her open a new page for Zed on very important issues otherwise she will remain as #34 has said “a datsun 120y”. Bet the hubby, if she has one is under petticoat government

  26. I AM DEPRESSED AS THERE IS NO HOPE FOR MY CHILDREN AND THEIR CHILDREN’S CHILDREN ATLEAST IN THE NEXT 300 YEARS, THIS COUNTRY WILL BE STATIC IF NOT GOING BACKWARDS, MORE LIKE BACKWARDS, THESE DAYS IN KABWATA WHERE THERE USED TO BE TAR ROAD NOW WE HAVE GRAVEL AND THAT GRAVEL IS DEVELOPING CRATERS EVENTUALLY THERE WILL BE NO ROAD!!!!

  27. Ba Chapi #21,with politicians one must always question the timing and reasoning behind their every action or in this case outburst!!this basic questioning makes it possible to detect signs of an expected trend or opportunism. I just found it strange for a presidential nominee to shoot themselves in the foot as their allegiance is to the appointing authority and not the electorate.as you and i both know…nothing is bright as day in politics!!

  28. #30 You think everybody who speaking out against the unjustices your tribalist uncle chuchu is committing is PF members, no no no my dear, we are just nationalists who are concern about our beloved country’s misfortunes under your uncle’s (the cabbage)leadership.

  29. Mwe mbwa mwe ba youth. is this how you treat or mis treat your right to speech. next you are denied your right what are you gonna say? Madam stand tall, you are a heroine.

  30. Is it wrong to belong to a certain tribe in Africa? Kenya same thing, Zimbabwe same thing, zambia same thing tell me is it wrong to belong to a tribe and belong to a party that is headed by a tribesperson????

  31. #45 No my dear it not wrong but you should direct your question to that ass cleaner Mitengo wa STUPID of USA.

  32. Mwiinga boy its nt wrong to belong to a tribe but it ll b bad if u ll would want to cross inocent pipo s feelings en this z the point we a praising our mother ba moonga viva moönga viva o those who a behind her. mwiinga nchiyanga

Thanks for your respose but I`ve got two questions for you.
Do you think that Shakafuswa should continue holding on to his ministerial post in the light of his recent comments about women?
What`s your take about Levy`s position on the Shakafuswa quagmire?

  34. Shakafuswa’s comments are a reflection of what he thinks about women and are not related to his ability to deliver as junior minister of finance and economic planning. His comments should land him in trouble as an elected MP who was voted into office partly by the women he is now insulting so that is a matter for them to now resolve and get him out of office next time around.NEC should also discipline him for exhibiting this kind of behaviour as a ruling party MP but i dont think Zambian people must necessarily be deprived of his minesterial services if he is delivering unless of course his own conscious drives him to stepping down of his own accord (baby and bathwater issue here)

  35. Bill Clinton committed indescretions in the white house (worse than the mere loud foul talking shakas)and he lied under oath about it..many called for his ouster, just as is happening here, but the majority of American voters chose economic prosperity and the highest growth in jobs over the man’s personal moral failings and voted him back into office for another term.I hope Shakas is a competent junior minister otherwise he faces double jeorpady

  36. #50 you have a point, let us seperate professionalism from personal life. There are men of high standing who frequent places like brown frog and Alpha Bar, God knows what they go to such places for, but come monday morning they make statements about things that move the world. Competency is a big thing and I thuink listening to shakafuswa a fwe times, he has said some sensible things regarding economic development. Anyway let the nation judge

  37. Mwiinga i am glad you see the point, Shakafuswa was at UNZA at the same time i was there and he graduated. I do have a hope and reasonable expectation that more young and educated men and women like him would have the opportunity and privilege to serve Zambia in decision making government positions because this is the need of the hour for our country.I do not condone his alleged utterances as such denigration of the fairer sex is despicable. But he is entitled to due process and must face a fair measure of sanctions if he is found guilty. I just dont agree that a mob mentality of baring for his blood is an appropriate reaction

  38. #51 Kulibonesha
I wish to correct your inaccurate statement and I quote “majority of American voters chose economic prosperity and the highest growth in jobs over the man’s personal moral failings and voted him back into office for another term”
The Monica Lewinsky scandal first broke on 17th Jan 1998 on the Drudge report website and that was well into Clinton`s second term and besides he was even impeached.
What development has Shakafuswa taken to the Katuba constituency to warrant comparison to Bill`s success?
Levy must just fire him and the electorate will express their sentiments come 2011.

  39. I am thinking aloud that Moonga sh/d just leave NEC & contest for 2011 elections as a presidential candidate. With that ‘volume of courage’ & support from all the bloggers, am sure she can scoop the polls. Its high time we had a female in plot 1. She is cute and presentable.

  40. Has the wife of Shakafuswa asked for a divorce? If not, then shame on her… How can he shame her/and all the women in public….! Women should walk half naked in protest. Not old women but young ones who can attract attention.

  41. #54 Chapi you re absolutely right and i do stand to be corrected. However, on the same argument, Clinton did go through a 21 days long senate trial with respect to the charges brought against him as grounds for impeachment. He was aquitted of all of them and remained in office with an ever so high approval rating for job performance – and this was really my point – Shakas must be given his day in whichever judicial arrangement is applicable.

  42. #57 Kulibonesha
Quote “Shakas must be given his day in whichever judicial arrangement is applicable”
Levy said he was waiting for the outcome of the investigations committee of privileges and services. This committee comprises 7 total members,4 from MMD(Nalumango,Mulongoti,G.Nyirongo & George Kunda), ULP(SAKI), PF(E.Mwansa) & UPND(E.Kasoko).Basically the MMD forms a simple majority.
What`s at play is simply called political triangulation and the outcome I can bet will be frivolous.
My question is why has Levy all of a sudden grown cold when to comes to dealing with his nephew Shakafuswa?

  43. Hats of to Mrs. Christine Moonga for valuing her freedom of speech and expression. I agree, entirely, with her position regarding the President’s inability to discipline his nephew and passing the buck to NEC. While I am a Bemba and I support my Tonga sister Mr’s Moonga for her courage and being able to see that the President was overtly practising tribalism and nepotism. In my view tribalism is a cowardly act and, to a great extent, means the individual practising it is afraid of his/her own shadows. It’s also a sign of incompetence in whoever engages in this hideous act. I feel that tribalism has no place in Zambia.

  44. The issue is not about someone having the ability to open their mouth and seem to deliver in the eyes of those incapable of analyzing the situation. What Bill Clinton did was totally wrong and inadmissible. This goes for Levy’s nephew Shakafuswa, he was wrong and is still wrong. What we need is moral uprightness in the leadership. If the electorate put you in a position of power, you have to respect them. We don’t need foul-mouthed leaders even if they may seem to talk sensibly. Zambia needs a morally upright President like me. If my fellow Zambians give me the opportunity to lead the country, I will endeavour to have leaders who have integrity. Integrity should be benchmark in our politcs.

  45. ba Chapi#48, our comrades comment in #50 is worth considering.emotive outbursts are a normal occurrence and involving a politician the press pick them up hungrily to boost sales in the name of informing the public !!if the minister is found to actively discriminate against women during the course of his duties..he must be immediately fired and it will be then up to those that elected him MP to decide what next.a foolish statement from a minister should ideally alert the ruling party to the existence of a loose cannon in their ranks

  46. #62 contd….and they should advise the president accordingly.the fact that the minister is a relative obviously complicates matters but indiscipline is indiscipline.Hopefully Parliament will act swiftly and without bias…only after this process is complete may LPM act!!

  47. Agreed 62 and 63, # 60 seems very well informed, and I want to quote “The issue is not about someone having the ability to open their mouth and seem to deliver in the eyes of those incapable of analyzing the situation” I find this a little overzealous and clouding judgement. Why is everybody following Obama so closely, isn’t he selling ideas. I would imagine if Shaka was put to debate an issues, I am sure he would debate it with adequate competency simply because of what he has said before. I am not in his constituency and have never been there as such I cannot speak intelligently about his ability in that area. For all I know he is a competent deputy minister, if anyone has information …

  48. … to the contrary then I would be more than glad to hear it. I mean we had a handful of loose canons in MMD, Tetamashimba (Deputy Minister), Mpombo (full minister) so what is the issue about Shakafuswa

  49. the tendency to sound the “nepotism” alarm whem LPM/MMD do or DO NOT do sumthin’ is in itself quite alarming!!! it would make better reading and more sense to highlight areas requiring improvement rather than endless “family tree” chants! for once you have decent foreign reserves,a stable currency, single digit inflation,a sharp Auditor General, clued up MP’s etc etc.lets try and transfer the successes to the rising urban poverty, stagnant health services and falling education standards.LPM/MMD is NOT without fault but then again some of the shallow critiscms are a waste of LT space !!!

  50. That is problem of the shushus of this blog one talk again MMD its shallow criticms and waste of space but one critise the opposition its GOOD POINT! WAKE UP YOU SHAMELESS MMD SHUSHU!

  51. That is problem of the shushus of this blog one talk against MMD its shallow criticms and waste of space but one critise the opposition its GOOD POINT! WAKE UP YOU SHAMELESS MMD SHUSHU!

  52. #67+#68….you wouldn’t know a shushushu even they sat next to you with a blanket over their head !!!!
(just in case that passed you….blanket…undercover etc etc !!!)

  53. Mwiinga handi kuti ndikume lubayi sena yebo tolimwenyi kuti ulalikombya ku family tree ulimubbululu wabo sena i was with shakafuswa at sch he z nt mature he behaves like nania the nusense muzungu anikonde type en thats whn u a praising him ulikayanga yanga yomwana toyeyi
