Zambia’s female boxer Esther Phiri has become the New World women Super-Feather Weight Champion after she beat Elina Tissen of Germany.
This was in a Women Inter-continental Boxing Federation (WIBF) title fight at Woodlands stadium in Lusaka.
Esther and Tissen went the full 10 rounds, but the Zambian got the upper hand on points.
The international female contest attracted five supporting bouts involving one international and two national title bouts.
The two female boxers weighed in Friday with Esther tipping the scales at 59 kilogrames and Tissen falling behind at 57 kilogrames.

ESTHER should rest – probably for good. Although she won the Global Boxing Union (GBU) super featherweight world title against Elina Tissen of Germany at Lusaka’s Woodlands Stadium yesterday, she has lost everything.
The pace, power and technique with which she announced her entry into the international ring in 2006 have all evaporated. Now, she can hardly punch and her energy levels seem to have dropped considerably. All judges ruled in favour of Ester
