Namwala Celtel subscribers complain of poor network

Namwala, May 8/08 ZANIS – Celtel subscribers in Namwala district have expressed displeasure at the constant poor network signal being experienced since last night around 21:00 hours.

Some subscribers talked to by ZANIS said they were fed of the continued poor network signal in the district and appealed to Celtel to improve its services.

Mr Tobias Mwiinga told ZANIS in an interview today that the Celtel network has been inconsistent most of the time and urged the company to find a lasting solution to the problem which has dogged people for a long time.

Mr Mwiinga, who is a businessman, complained that people were inconvenienced in conducting their business because of the poor net work signal.

“We have been experiencing this problem for a long time this year and we had hoped that Celtel was going to rectify the problem,” Mr Mwiinga lamented.

He said the poor signals could have been triggered because the company removed the ground dish last year.

And another resident, Gibson Chingwalala, said people were contemplating to switch to other networks because Celtel has disappointed them.

  1. you celtel chaps!you amek alot of money and I don’t see the reason why you should fail to work on your network after all Namwala is not a big town!wake up and realise the profits where there’s money nobayanga nywebo!!

  2. I wanted to join Celtel but because of the recent reports in the media I am discouraged. Namwala and Munkoshi areas which other networks available in your areas? Just switch to other networks instead of depending on unreliable Celtel network.

  3. What is Zamtel in the name of CelZ doing about this market that seems to be dissatisfied? The same question goes to MTN.

We need to take advantage of the situation whenever there is an open opportunity.

  4. Bakwesu numuli ku Namwala na muchiche bulyo ku MTN. Ba bantu mbalimbushi maningi.

  5. #7: If you have been to Namwala, you would be shocked at the level of wealth of some of these people you are calling ‘cattle headers’. So, grow up and realise that anyone who pays for a service deserves the best.

  6. Villagers are talking too much about cell phones of late. This is one of the reasons why Zamtel MD was sacked (poor reception in rural areas)I am suspecting something, its clear the government does not have a rural development plan.let people in rural areas concentrate on cell z for obvious reasons

  7. Where is the Telecomms authority? It is clear to me that the current explosion in poor performance across all sectors in Zed is due to the absence of a working government. When economic hoodlums take up posts in public office, this is what you get..none delivery of services and increased corruption.

The whole saga is lead by Levy and Mutati who are the main agents for enslavement and mass dispossession of real wealth from our people.

  8. Zamtel is the answer to all of Zambia s telecommunications problems, all we need to do is to support it and control it after all it is our company. The rest of guyz celtel or zamcell mtn are here just to get money from us.Patriotism with a vission is all we need guyz,Go Zambia Go

  9. #11 thats what you get if you have a government owned company whose management is based of appointments other than earning for the position # 10 they should be sacked bcoz they lack visions except visions in there stomachs and shakabrothals

  10. Why blame the mobile companies, the only programm our government have or had is to fight corruption.I checked the MMD manifesto rural ares are not covered. The govt has preoccupied it self with mining, free trade zones, tax, china and india.Zambians are not covered

  11. ka anonymous(7) so this is where you have been hiding. why are you galloping from topic to topic parroting your tribalism. you cant feel ashamed of yourself that you are the only one remaining discussing this acient subject and wanting to twist everything to suit your tribal agenda. the discussion here is poor services by celtel which can affect any region in zambia not only the tonga region that you so passionately hate. so people on this forum are involved in a very serious discussion concerning a cross cutting isssue and the best you can do is to just read the debate as it unfolds.

  12. #7 is sick in mind and needs a physician at Chainama. Don’t worry he is expressing his ignorance. He is still living in the past. He doesn’t know where rich people come from. Namwala district. Communication has played a very important role in cattle marketing. Farmers are able to talk to their clients in the Copperbelt because of the mobile phones in rural areas. Please companies providing these services just improve to the needs of your customers. A cuctomer is always right.
