Chief Ishindi Ready to give MMD another Fives Years

Share

Chief Ishindi of the Lunda people of Northwestern Province says people in his area are ready to give President Levy Mwanawasa’s MMD government another mandate to continue in office.

Chief Ishindi said selfish individuals would not be allowed to destroy the economic development that was taking place in the area.

The traditional leader said this in Livingstone today when he paid a courtesy call on Southern Province Minister Daniel Munkombwe, who was flanked by his Permanent Secretary Darius Hakayobe.

”We are geared and ready to give this government another mandate to continue. That development we have seen in North-Western province should not be destroyed by selfish individuals who would want to come and hijack the economic gain,” he said.

He said the country’s political future demanded that people must remain united and ensure that peace prevailed.

The traditional leader observed that the people of Zambezi in Northwestern province were now enjoying the fruits of independence as the province had transformed into an economic giant.

He said other than minerals, the area had agricultural potential adding that the people in his area were united and hardworking.

”We are united in North Western province and development should change the lives of people. We are thankful to the President for bringing development to the area,” he said.

And Southern Province minister Daniel Munkombwe has called on Zambians to pray for President Levy Mwanawasa’s early recovery.

Mr. Munkombwe said the country was now going through economic recovery through President Levy Mwanawasa’s sound economic policies.

He called on the people of North Western province to continue being a leading example to those who do not want to remain isolated.

Mr. Munkombwe said North Western province is one of the provinces that voted for the MMD in the 2006 elections.

He said the ‘one Zambia One Nation’ that was advocated for by the founding fathers had laid a firm foundation which has in turn played a key role in uniting the people of Zambia.

Mr. Munkombwe said other countries envied the peace and stability that Zambia has continued to enjoy.

  1. Bwana District Commissioner there, kindly take the message of sincere gratitude and assurance to Chief Ishindi of the Lunda people of Northwestern Province. His sense of pride in the ruling party, appreciation and patriotism is loud and clear. With God’s unfailing Grace, the ruling MMD will continue providing leadership beyond 2011.This is a people’s party working restlessly for the “common Good” and enjoys grassroot appeal across the 9 provinces a fact that distinguishes it from opponents stuck in politics of sectionalism and localism not sellable in Zambia.Just continue consolidating the party all odds befalling MMD are but for a moment.

  2. Is this a third term issue or an MMD mandate? Please, the Zamiban constitution is clear on the two terms of office for any President of our land as maximum.

There is no time for retrogressive activities anymore. We are in a hurry to develop as Zambia and political progress in necessary if we ever hope to have an economically and socially sound Zed.

  3. Ishindi is a stupid cadre. Who gave him the authority to speak on behalf of the people of north western province? When and where did the people tell him that they will continue supporting mmd?

  4. If his royal highness is out of order, that is not a reason to insult him. Royalty worldwide is respected inspite of thier short comings. #3 you r totally out of order cos you not sure whether the pipo of NWP indeed said so or not. Every person is entitled to thier opinion even if it is misguided. Please withdraw ur statement.

  5. Continuity of the ruling party does not mean third term for seating President.President Mwanawasa-God bless him is a democrat entrenched in legal values. We Zambians have already building his retirement home. He is preparing for the end of his selfless tenure as a transformative leader.

  6. Our salaried chiefs are becoming more and more like political cadres.Well when you consider they have just been “given” vehicles, it is not surprising they will sing songs of praise to the current government.

  7. Some chiefs have so much influence on its subjects in certain provinces so much that they direct the subjects on who will be their leader come voting whether it is presidential or MPs. It is a bitter pill to swallow, but it is what it is.

  8. Please lets not behave as Zimbabweans. We have aculture and traditions that must be respected.the chief expressed his opinion which he is entitled to in a country that promotes freedom of speech yet you are insulting him.Its totally uncalled for. There is better language to use rather than that of the uncivilised

  9. #8, careful. What freedom of speech are you talking about? Can’t you see that this man is misleading the innocent souls in his chiefdom because he is a beneficially? Personally i find myself unconfortable with his words. I want to believe leaders should not be ssen to partial in they dealings, because suppose the opposite happened, how would they work? Thats why politics of the stomach, awe twakana.

  10. The inference from the statements of the Chief is he fancies LPM beyobd 2011. I dont think LPM discovered the wealth that is NWP. As a matter of fact there were put there at the time of creation. Ask Chamakomboka, he knew well before LPM that there were minerals in the area. To attribute all this success to one renders us all senile. LPM is just the leader at the moment. We all know we could have done better guys. 2011 LPM zwaa!!!

  11. I thouht the minerals and prospective mining points were laid down a log time ago even before we got independence. The best one can do is go to the special collection section of the UNZA library and you will see data as far back as the early 50’s so much detailed that u will think twice to just heap praise on LPM. kauda was a bit selfish and didnt expose such info to the public.

  12. well,it is quite unfortunate that chiefs should engage in partisan politics.they preside over pipo from different interests in regard to politics.it is therefore expected of them to keep their preferences to themselves or they risk losing their guidance role as traditional leaders.plz chiefs donnot forget the 3rd term saga, the same applies to clergemen,DCs,per secs etc.abash politics of apeasement!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  13. I believe chief ishindi is a cheap chief and a boot licker. It is a responsibility of every govt to foster for development for its citizens. That as workers we pay income tax and companies pay corporate tax so that the govt of the day can develop the country. In the first place, why travel all the way to livingstone , just to go make such a basic statement. By the way who paid for ishindi’s travel expenses all the way from zambezi? thats way he is praising M M D because he is eating tax payers money.

  14. #8 as long as the chief is going to be partisan, it will difficult for some of his subjects, whose views are different from him, to respect him. i dont believe that it is only MMD which can develop Zambia. they have really failed us for the past 17 years.

  15. As for Daniel Munkombwe, he is another Robert Mugabe (Old). He should leave politics to young generation. He is like a monkey, he jumps from one party to another as long he can have butter on his table. I hate his politics!!!!!!!!!!!

  16. Well it looks like the landcruiser is talking. Anyhow, for a chief to be partisan that is very strange to start with. Secondly since when are cheifs paying courtesy calls to their subjects? And moreso if I was cheif Ishindi I would be foolish to say something against MMD in the presence of one of its senior members, isn’t Mpezeni who gave a go ahead for every poltical party president that visited him in the run up to the 2006 elections (HH – Namukonda mwana uyu) (LPM – He is a good man, he is assured of our vote) (Sata – He is very practical we shall give him our vote) I would take what these cheifs say with a pinch of salt, and who is paying for Ishindi’s degree studies at UNZA?

  17. Majority of Zambian chiefs are greedy bastards. They are not interested in the well-being of all citizens of Zambia, but only themselves. They have sold off their people in the past for mirrors and razors, and now they are blinded by vehicles given to them by LPM in his agenda to bribe everyone standing in his way to our national resources so that he can dish them to his foreign friends.

  18. Whatever the chief said is his opinion and he is intitled to it.He doesnt deserve insults.Yes we can disagree with him in a better way than insults.Even if he was my chief i dont think i would have to agree with him in a democracy.Even if LPM said something, i wouldnt have to agree with him.So dont get me wrong, i know what he said and i dont agree with him but i wouldnt insult him at all.I would challenge him with facts about my point of view and why i dont agree with him instead of insulting.Whether you loike it or not he is entitled to voice his opinion wrong or correct.Lets guve him facts perhaps he can change his stand rather than insult him.No one deserves insults.

  19. This is why there must be qualified democracy in Zambia. We have too many citizens who do not understand their actions such as praising failed leaders and disguised thieves who are in custumes of politicians.

Insults are nothing..they are just a way to draw your attention to the crisis that Zambia finds herself in! How are we going to develop our infrastracture of our resources are taken away from us and we have nothing to use to up our revenues?

  20. Zambia gives too much respect to all creatures of fraud and their masters. We need to put a stop to the rot so that our country becomes a better nation.

Right now, we have too many people that glorify kleptomania, thuggery and abuse of public office. We need to change the mindset of many of our people so that they can deal effectively with thieves at all levels of our nation.

  21. #16 there are hundreds of Zambians who are at UNZA. Who is paying for them? Chief Ishindi is an educated man. He has studied abroad in clinical health. When he was made chief he was working for ministry of health as a senior man. He is not a form five drop out. Further studies at unza is for his personal development and we should applaude him for it so that he can make informed decisions in future as we all agree this time around he may have misdirected himself. He has every right to travel to any part of zed and he did not visit l’stone to praise mmd. He may just have paid a private curtecy call on Munkombwe and it was reported by press. He’s not from a poor palace he can afford to travel.

  22. I agree with Gibby,we are supposed to be deliberating intelligently which is our place as proud zambians. Please let us not insult our traditional leaders. These are the people who signify our zambianess. We all have pride in having a village somewhere, whether we have been there or not.

    Insults OUT!!

On the other hand,I definitely do not agree with His Royal Higness about Zambezi enjoying the fruits of independence.Zambezi has no infrastructure to talk about, dusty gravel boma centre, overgrown airstrip, deisel generated electricity,no industries, overcrouded schools, etc.Definitely Zambezi is not enjoying as much as Choma or Katete or Mpika or even Kafue. The Chief should specify this enjoy!!!

  23. I think the new constitution should encourage our chiefs to refraign from appearing partisan in their conduct lest those who do not share their political position lose respect for them.

  24. this bastsard of a chief should be condemned by all true democrats. how does he just issue this strange declaration so carelessly without any remorse fool.

  25. True Democrats should realise that there are differences of opinions about the same thing. All we need to do is querry someone ‘s opinion which he/she has to validate in order to convince us.Already #22 has exposed flaws in the chief’s sentiments. So he has nullified the chief’s stand. If the chief ready this he may think twice and learn from it.Thats what we need-discussing issues without insults.I believe insults only come in when people fail to reason and the ultimate of insults is physical fights. Most fights can be averted if culprits summoned their brains to function but they stem from insults

  26. Our Chiefs are said to be ordained from time immemorial. They must represent the views of their people in a non- partisan way.
Whilst we acknowledge their knowledge, wisdom and influence,it puts them in a precarious situation if the opposition goes into state house.

  27. “dont hate the player, hate the game”! everything is politikal…..stop complaining and join the winning team- Zambia’s dream team….MMD!!!

  28. When I was studying for my Masters there is something called opinion leaders and they do infleunce a lot of people, I do not see how a private courtesy call can be all over in the press. Please #21 help me understand this, I surely lack understanding. And what about the ruler-ruled relationship, this is what I think, it would have been much better if the Cheif had gone to Mukuni village and summoned Munkombwe there, that way it leaves him out of politics, but take it from me if the chief issues statements in his individual capacitu how come all politocians always use them to influence the voters? Let us be realistic ladies and gentlemen.

  29. … I think this is the spirit in which some people like me are a bit uncomfortable with a very influential chief issuing such a blanket statement. Zambezi it is true is very rural and the few times I have been there have been hectic, now they are tarring the famous Mutanda-Chavuma road and the last time i checked they were in Mufumbwe, so if this project which was initiated by Kaunda and the mining projects initiated by Chiluba is what the chief is basing his statement, then we have a long way to go. And beside on the Mutanda-Chavuma road Government has no option but to do the project because the contract was badly done, in other words Govt has no room to manouevre but do the road.

  30. The chief has indeed fallen out with a number of people in Zambezi before for his partizan sentiments. He is believed to have had hand in campaining for the current mp for zambezi east. He may have taken a personal stand on some issues but that is no reason to insult him. I still believe his statement in l’stone was personal and private but the mmd in order to steal a polical mileage made sure it was headline news. I’m just speculating on this as I wasn’t there just like everyone else on this blog and don’t know in what context the statement was made. Besides, he is still a youngman who may still be learning the rudiments of leadership.

  31. … let me qualify this, whoever did this contrcat has put belga as the only company that can do that road and there is also something concerning the funding of the rosd that the Government can and should only have that road funded by EU money, now unless someone has a different opinion about the mutanda chavuma road, the Government finds it prudent to get rid of the project as soon as possible. Otherwise this road has been a poltical road through and through.

  32. “Besides, he is still a youngman who may still be learning the rudiments of leadership.” ha ha ha I ilke this but i see him to be quite an inteligent man actually.

  33. Its not strange for most people to be against what the chief said.So far it seems we all agree that he shouldnt have said what he said. The only difference here is whether we are right to insult him or not.I am not comfortable with insults to any body and hence my stand.we can condenm him certainly but not insulting him

  34. # 34 I know you will agree with me that intelligence and wisdom are two different things. He has not yet attained the wisdom of a senior chief like those who have gone before him. I’ve known him from childhood.

  35. iwe anonymous. you think your opinions are the best. you are just an ***** full of nothing but gabbage. thats the problem when you elevate yourself too much. you think you can control others just because you are the only educated embecile among your ilegitimate siblings. why did you target me for attack when others have written worse things about your chief. do you have something against my postings or what. is your mother the share holder in LT. i know some people will condemn this but just go back to posting number 29 where this ***** has insulted me over nothing.

  36. #39, Muzungu, you have a small brain from your talk. Remember every individual is entitled to their opinion. Your dad should have used a rubber to avoid your conception.

  37. One ***** may want one particular party to be in govt, another ***** will go for another party. The beauty is that one chooses what they want- democracy. So even if you guys exchange insults on this blog it will be of little effect.

  38. Chiefs, we are used.He is looking for another land cruiser, we know about them and handouts, selfish they are. Thanks anyway GRZ you have helped them for easy transportation but you are promoting prostitution in there villages as well. They will F..k’n all of them just for free transport.
