Luangwa District Wins Inter Schools tourney

The Junior Inter-Schools, District Tournament of Lusaka Province that kicked off on Monday this week in Luangwa District in Lusaka Province came to an end yesterdy (Friday)with District emerging the overall winner.

Lusaka District came first in Boys and Girls Soccer games with nine points respectively followed by Kafue six points, Luangwa three points and Chongwe,no point.

In volleyball Lusaka District Boys carried the day followed by Luangwa, Kafue and Chongwe as last. In Volleyball for Girls,Luangwa District emerged first followed by Lusaka, Kafue and Chongwe as last.

In netball, Lusaka came first, Luangwa second, Chongwe third and Kafue District,last.

In Athletics Lusaka District took the lead, followed by Chongwe,Kafue was third and Luangwa District trailed behind.

Lusaka District scooped the Boys and Girls soccer trophy, athletics trophy and overall Trophy while Host Luangwa district scooped the Vollelyball and second overall trophies the rest walked away with no trophies.

Speaking during the tournament, Luangwa District Commisioner Capt. Stanislaus Kalunga commended the organisers and Government through the Ministry of Education for the effort made towards the success of the competition.

Capt. Kalunga recalled this year’s Day of the African Child Commemoration under the Theme “Child Participation-Children to be Heard and Seen”, saying Government had fulfilled this year’s Theme because of the children’s participation in the competition.

The District Commissioner also took advantage of the tournament to ask stakeholders to join the rest of the nation in praying for the speedy recovery of President Levy Mwanawasa who is receiving treatment at Percy Military hospital in Paris, France following a stroke he suffered while attending the African Union Heads of State Summit in Egypt last month.

He said for Government to fulfill its good policies like Youth empowerment, there was need for leaders like President Levy Mwanawasa hence the need to pray for him.

  1. Bana ba skulu shud take keen interest in sports. For some it might turn out to be where they earn their bread and butter!

  2. I am happy to hear that sports is still practiced at junior level. I wish ministry of education could encourage school to start giving classes for PE. I graduate from primary school and high school without having PE classes. How do you expect to improve sports in the country when there are no classes for PE in schools. Please think about it.

  3. Crap. teachers are using these same sports festivals to feast on small pupils, shame sexual predators. they should just be banned!

  4. Some of the Teachers even call these Pupils they feast on as ‘chalk bonuses’!!!!! We need to do something on this crap going on amongst these Teachers!!!!

  5. chaps are crazy these dayz,wish chaps could be punushed like the way things are done here but any way God watches over all evil and its up to him to deal with them…shame
