Govt concerned over distortion of facts on Levy’s illness

Share

Government says it is saddened by the misinformation and distortion of facts surrounding the health of President, Levy Mwanawasa.

Defence Minister, George Mpombo, said the distortion of facts on President Mwanawasa’s illness should be discouraged due to its potential to breed confusion in the nation.

He advised members of the public should rely on information updates from government as the only authoritative source.

He was speaking in Zambezi district when he officiated at the 26th Lunda Lubanza traditional ceremeony held over the weekend at Senior Chief Ishindi’s Mukandakunda Royal Palace.

He explained that the information updates that government is releasing to the nation is based on factual records obtained from the medical team attending to Dr Mwanawasa at Percy Military Hospital in Paris.

He said doctors attending to Dr Mwanawasa have consistently indicated that that he is making steady progress in his recovery.

He urged the church, the civil society and patriotic Zambians to continue praying for Dr Mwanawasa’s full recovery.

  1. Well, why doesn’t the government clear up the dust by up dating us on what’s happening to our President? We love him but we need the truth. Where is Dr Manda when we need him the most?

  2. To what degree is the progrees they are talking about? Can he talk? Can he breath or is he jogging? What degree of progress do they mean?

  3. Levy is stable , but how stable is he stable.Mpombo should tell the truth ,give us some facts like is he breathng without the aid of machinery,is he able to blink or talk.

  4. Pombo iwe …its becoz you guys are not even sure and haven’t told us the truth.why should you cry foul?if LPM is ill, then be it and let our lives continue and God will direct….choose a successor now or else you will cry foul guys!

  5. Mupombo you confused me when you shed those alligator tears. I m still mad by the stable updates which were a bunch of misinformations

  6. #1 Katanta Pamatamba
Why do you need Dr Manda,a urologist(not neurologist) to tell you how the President is when he has not even been to Paris to see the President,Mpombo though being scruffy & if you wanna call him a fool has been to see his best friend Levy so he has first hand information.

  7. Mpombo you causing political IMBEGILIO…your use of big memorised dictionary words will come to so abrupt end very soon..

  8. The people distorting facts are the very few who think being awya cleaning bums in the UK is all there is to life, yet the always refer to them as stinking people.

  9. People, these guys are not serious. Mpombo doesnt know the seriousness of this matter. He is only thinking of his job,not us the common Zambians .We are getting tired of this propaganda. If the doctors in Paris are experienced they should know how long it takes for a person to be in a coma, surely even an idea. Ask yourselves, are we being told the whole truth?

  10. My poor mbuyas (Luvale’s) in Zambezi sat there being fed with lies from Mpombo.

The government should take responsibility for the distortion of facts, becoz they did not tell the truth from the beginning.

First of all they told people that he was suffering from hypertension, secondly, he had a minor operation from a stroke.

You can not call a tracheotomy a minor operation because it comes with a lot of complications, believe me i have witnessed the insertion of a trache and i have also taken care of patients with traches.

Don’t people wonder why nobody has seen the picture of Levy since he was taken ill. A trache is very uncomfortable.

    Tell the people the truth!!!

  11. Let’s be fair to the government. The continous reports that the president is ‘stable’ are not necessarily untrue. In medical terms ‘stable’ means there is no significant deterioration or improvement in the patient’s condition. I also believe that Chituwo gave a broadly factual summary of the president’s condition in Parliament. His key points: 1)the president is heavily sedated (i.e. he is asleep – not talking, blinking or jogging etc) 2)the stroke was severe (as opposed to his previous stroke, which he said was ‘mild, which means not life threatening’) 3)his recovery will take a considerable length of time
I think Zambians have all the pertinent facts

  12. Well-said #13. read the statement from the minister of health and you will have no further questions. i don’t know what you want to hear. the man is heavily sedated = not doing anything for himself.

now stay cool and thank RB and canbinet for running the country smoothly during this time. Parliament should be able to resolve this shortly.

Now, stop making noise about this; the president is sick, and his sickness is being held satisfactorily.

  13. There are better issues to blog about like the way forward than about some being who is costing us a lot of money to keep on ventilators and in some ward at a military hospital. why are we forcing matters when it all clear that time will catch up with who ever wants to hide the real situation. Mind you already six weeks is gone.

We do not want to set a bad presidence for future presidents that fall sick. In the mean while we have the consitution to guide us on the way forward so we cannot have this going indefinatly.

By seizing the opportunity to pound Georgia with air strikes and military incursions, Vladimir Putin, Russia’s prime minister, is sending an emphatic message with global consequences.

The curtain has fallen on the era when Nato steadily expanded into Eastern Europe and onwards to embrace former republics of the Soviet Union – and Russia was able to respond with nothing more than bluster.

Moreover, Mr Putin has demonstrated that the Kremlin will use fo

The importance of this message cannot be exaggerated. Whether the populations of Abkhazia and South Ossetia, Georgia’s two breakaway regions, are genuinely Russian or merely the recipients of passports recently issued from Moscow matters little. Dmitry Medvedev made the crucial point last week when he stated that as Russia’s president, he was obliged to protect the “security and dignity” of all Russian citizens, wherever they may live.

Countries ranging from Latvia to Moldova to Ukraine hav

Some Russians in the “Near Abroad” – the term used by Moscow’s officials to refer to former Soviet Republics – inhabit clearly defined enclaves, uncannily similar to South Ossetia and Abkhazia. The Russians of Moldova have carved out the self-styled “Dniester Republic”, a small, lawless region which Moscow effectively controls.

Ukraine is the most crucial link in the chain. This aspiring member of both Nato and the European Union has 11 million Russians, concentrated in its eastern regions and particularly in the Crimea, where they comprise about 70 per cent of the population.

  28. What are you saying when you are not telling people the truth. We want the truth so that we know how long you are going to enjoy your pay rise bakabwalala imwe. Stable condition ya bwanji you guys you can`t tell people the truth. Stop taking people for granted who knew that Kenyans can behave like that after their last polls. We have been in the dark for too long.

  29. Ref to #9 and #12,you are too ignorant and uneducated that is why you were deported to your village. To be honest that is why you are still working for foreign investors day and night until death.Do not forget you are too slave for a white man because you still owe World Bank,IMF,European countries and USA more dollars.Hence, you have to work for a white man until I become the President of Zambia.

  30. # 9 What’s your point? You seem to be very resistant to new information. #11 makes a very valid point. Give us your experience or what you were taught in the white man’s country or were you just an expatrite, going by your name?

  31. #13 you have a very good point and you sound educated. Nevertheless, how long do you think its going to take our President to recover? Or if he recovers do you think he will be in a good enough condition to rule again. Would you consider replacement as a reasonable option?

  32. Dr Lumbwe who is a personal physician to LPM and currently at his bedside should be prudent enough to give us an update on the the president’s condition. Why is he so quiet when he is part and parcel of the calamity. And when last did he read a medical text book, with that beer drinking in Arakan baracks. Anyway, quick recovery LPM; its all we can sing.

  33. At the moment no one knows the truth about our president. I suppose a few people are benefitting from this uncertainty.
    Quick recovery ba kateka

  34. My thoughts based on the information we have so far: 1) the president is not coming back any time soon, probably not this year. The president’s condition could remain ‘stable’ indefinitely (let’s not forget that Ariel Sharon suffered a similar stroke in Jan 2006 after battling with obesity, high blood pressure etc for many years and is STILL ALIVE THREE YEARS LATER). 2) The constitution does not give us any real guidance in this situation (we have to wait for cabinet to request Chief Justice to call a medical tribunal, but there is no time frame specified within which this should happen).
I believe these are the 2 crucial points our Parliamentarians need to consider and act on

  35. ===>21, your postings are indeed boring. too much cut and paste. aint u innovative enough to compose your own blog? spare us from your russian nonsense

  36. We don’t need to sound educated to be educated. Of course there are different levels of education on this forum. Cut out the innuendos. We are all educated in our own rights. Humour is also an integral part of this site. Some of you are all about book-knowledge and that’s a good thing. The forum is not exclusive. We are here to complement each other.

  37. Did the honourable minister of defence site any particular distortions regarding the illness of our beloved president? Can anyone educate me, just on the distortions.

  38. # 12,

Can you leave me alone please. There are some people who appreciate my bloggs.”i cannot work for a white man” who cares, just mind your own business. If people wipe bums abroad, they are better off than sitting hungry back home..makaka iwe!

  39. @ Innovative Anonymus..#39

Either you are an ***** an imbecile or both..(you decide)

where do you think the stories and articles you debate and respond to come from, aren’t they gotten from some other media,

sometimes even copied and pasted directly, what’s wrong with me doing the same

if you don’t like my ‘nonsense’,which interestingly enough has captivated the world’s attention

why not scroll past,it’s not as if you’re obliged to read it,you’re not forced

DO NOW SEE JUST HOW STUPID YOU ARE?…if you are looking for a site were you’re in agreement with everyone on what’s interesting or not,

you can start your own and enforce your views

    Ta.

  40. If international relations and geo politics are a brow to high for your appreciation why not stay way clear from them,

you lose nothing by staying quiet,

do you mean to tell me you,and only you are smarter than all the other forumites who never commented on the article,

don’t you think there are some forumites who found it boring aswell,

when even i the originator of the article apologised in passing at the end,

but look at their attitude, did they stoop low to your orangutang level,no!

i feel terribly sorry for your parents,as theirs was clearly a wasted night, the night they concieved you, shame…

  41. Statements on LPM illness by Chituwo alarming according to Mr. Mpombo, but meanwhile the government has asked Parliament to backdate payrise.

What does he expect us to believe? His government has been hiding information about LPM illness and about their proposed salaries. Mr. Mpombo should stop fooling pipo

  42. Chituwo’s statement on Levy alarming – Mpombo

The above’s statement is on the front page of the post newspaper. I thought Dr Chituwo’s statements on our beloved president were more factual and close to the truth that the nation has been waiting to hear for the past 1 month or so. I’m of the understanding that the truth sets people free not “alarming”. What statement could have caused our defense minister to be alarmed?

  43. ====>21
This is not a blog about some useless country called Russia or its dictator in making called Putin who wants to cling to power by disguising himself as Prime Minister and later to ascend to President due to some loopholes in the constitution of that country. Russia for the flawed constitution is a third world country in the making. There is nothing to learn from Russia but how to rape and adulterate the constitution for continuity of one individual in power. We dont want that situation here, let us resolve what the constitution says about the President becoming a cabbage, like he is now in Paris and defacto running our country.

  44. Truth of the matter is that Chituwo has nothing to lose, you won’t see him walking the streets of Lusaka if he loses his govt job. Mpombo’s only qualification is that he is related to Levy.

  45. Mpombo and his cronies know exactly what is happening in France and therefore they should not pretend by issuing rhetoric statements when they have not told the nation the truth about the president’s illness.

The fact is that LPM is very sick and will not be able to carry out the duties of the presidency, therefore its high time you MMD started to organize itself to replace the LPM. These people just want to keep holding to power when they even know the truth at hand. Please mwempombo and mulongoti stop misleading the nation. Soon or later we will know the truth. Just watch out!

  46. ===> 21, i think your reasoning is off the mark. We all in one way wonder from the topic at hand but over rdigracing is just too much in your case. I have not read most of your postings because i do a “SKIM AND SCAN” method of reading such literature and when i find tosh has been written, i simply cross it out. Your point, valid as it may be; that some one need not be in agreement to your opinion is misplaced. This is a directed blog just as BBC blogs are. You get a topic and discuss it period. When you digrace, it should be for a short time not always. This blog though internationally accessed has most of the issues coming from Zambia and NOT RUSSIA or PUTIN.

  47. When you go for bunji jumping you are likely to be let loose by that rope and plunge to your death, you therefore do not come back and blame your handlers for causing your death, so if you are known not to tell the truth, do not blame people when they do not trust anything of what you say, dispel the innacurate information by supplying the correct information backed with pictures, ba Mpombo for once please think.

  48. ===> 21, there you go again to bore us. Is RUSSIA your home country or you are a refugee that side? Well gone are the days when we had USSR.Not any more and please digrace but not that long coz its just too boring, no wonder most africans cant tick in the public relations area, too much copy cats. Be your self and post something from your heart. I am not going to call you names coz am not used to call fellow humans bad names, coz that just demeans me too as it takes two to tangle.

  49. We need to have elections soon. The country is at standstill because all these ministers cant make decisions. If we Zambians remain docile like we are right now we are going to be very sorry.
These NYANDULES are busy raping the country & giving us false hope.”Lets continue praying” for how long?

  50. #32 Unless you live in Brixton, Peckham or the likes, chances are your neighbours dont even talk to you.

We know you cant hack it when you come back. Keep cleaning those bums. I would rather be a slave in my contry than where you are you *****. I lived there. Been there, seen it mate. Black this black that. Unless you don`t get what they say. To them crime is perpetuated by foreigners, the NHS is choking because of you.

We know you cant hack it when you are back here. Yeah babay!

  51. We are tired of this old bum cleaners (abasafya ututako twabasungu abakote) who are pretending to be runaway doctors.

  52. These guys are a big let down, first they ask people to pray for LPM whe their updates are full of scams and tricks. For real, how can a man with a dead brain rule a country?First time ever in the history of man and it is only pa mother zed!!!!!!!

  53. Hey, stop attacking one another and dwell on the topic at hand. We are all brethrens. The subject here is why this acting -vice president is alarmed by statements made by Chituwo. So far i am not satisfied with any comments posted. Please indulge me here.

  54. Dont u dare blame yo stupid inaccurate updates of LPM to innocent zambians who have been patiently waiting to hear some facts and excluse detail on the presidos health!!!!

u are failing to communicate within yoselves now u are misleading the nation nomba fyamikosela!!!! ata mule iwelamo!!!!

  55. you know what zambia is very blessed ..with all this rubbish our government is feeding us.. we are very blessed to have a good stable millitary that stands by LPM other wise a coup plot would have taken action!!!

  56. # 33 thats true it shall be reviewed to the babies, you greatly remind me of the wisdom of [if you are the big tree, we are the small axe].

  57. Imwe mwe bantu who is this man I CANT WORK FOR A WHITE MAN, he seems very distorted , please mister stick to the topic at hand .

  58. Gov’t is slowing losing grip of the economy. During the abscence of LPM, fuel prices have gone up when our neighboring Namibia intends to reduce. Upon seeing the foregoing, Cabinet wants to increase their salaries. Please let LPM rest and another person to lead before things go from bad to worse.

  59. The Levy sickness caught these guys un aware. So they want to accumulate more cash as soon as possible. Guys i like Levy, but @ this point i think its time to look to a replacement. For those in t medical fiel they know what it means to be in a coma for more than a week worse 2 months. Lets mve forwad. This is the problem when you recycle politician than glooming young ones.

  60. Is Mpombo serious???..What exactly has the Government told us???..Let us pray??..He is stable???..let us all pray again???..
    This Government is a joke!!!!!

  61. The blog should be about distortion in reporting or informing the nation on Levy’s illness. I am suprised the topics are being diverted to’ “akabwamba akanono, bum cleaners and Russian and Putin”. Lets us share ideas about the way forward on the absence of LPM and what that absence is doing to our economy. Even the behaviour of our residents at Manda Hill will do us much better i think.

  62. I won’t blame Mpombo for his daftness but rather wonder why our beloved President surrounded himself with such mediocre characters? They maybe his relatives but one has to draw the line somewhere. Mpombo, pls shut your hairy bearded trap!, you’re the ones fanning confusion by hiding the full extent of Levy’s illness. You better pray the big man ‘recovers’, otherwise, yours will be a sad ending. These guys honestly think Zambians r very dwanzy? As VJ correctly pointed out in yesterday’s Post, time will soon come when the country needs to make some tough decisions based on our constitution. Ba Mpombo, ala time is quickly running out, you may not even get your proposed salary increment…!

  63. The todays post headline – Mpombo claiming that Chituwo’s statement is alarming is very foolish. Mpombo is not a medical doctor and cannot understand the many explanation by the medical doctor who put it in more or less a lay-man language so that that the public would know how our president is doing or at least to have an idea.

I challenge you Mpombo to publish the pictures of our President. We put him into power and we need to know the truth. Dont start fighting in the papers as the confusion you are causing could bring troubles and destroy the peace we have enjoyed over the years.

  64. Mpombo is alarmed cause Dr Chituwo told the nation the truth. He realises that people now have the information to seek for the way forward before these chaps make themselves rich. he knows too that the general masses knows why they are busy trying to secure their pockets. This is what Mpobo calls alarming. he wanted people to still remain docile so that they can finish plundering the nation.

  65. what i find even more interesting is that mpombo should be against what chituwo said. are they not supposed to be unanimous on this? thier way of doing things is very pathetic and uninspiring. mpombo is up to something and i think it is not good.

  66. For starters, Dr chituwo is a qualified medical doctor and so his statement to Parliament is more acculate than any of those shallow updates they have been giving us. Mpombo want to make us believe in their political stable statement. Yes he talks to the people on the ground in France, but the question is, when did he last seek LPM? if he saw him can the Gorrila tell us from a medical point of view that his statement will be more accurate than Chituwo’s? i for one don’t think so and i know he is the one distortin the fact and not chituwo.

  67. #75
I’m sure you meant Mpombo should NOT be against what Chituwo said. What is even more interesting is that our honourable defense minister is alarmed while the nation is not. I thought he was supposed to inspire courage.

  68. Now Mpombo says Chituwos statement is alarming. who is being alarmed? us, not at all, we are cool and are not even shedding any tears be it crocodile or real ones. Mpombo the impala is longing to eat grass which he has not watered. He is a fake man.

  69. Aka pombo mu parley kaletolauka fye no purpose at all. chuck the mambala remember he once plunged the nation into a fuel crisis yet the SICK ONE said nothing only to see him appoint the impala to post of defense minister. Mwafwa pantu akapombo kuti kanyanta ama grunades while kena ninshi nakatoloka kale then yashala ya mipolekela.

  70. It is well know fact that Mwanawasa is clincally dead. What does that mean? we are waiting for a miracle to happen whilst spending tax payers money. If the Mwanawasa’s want to continue keeping his reamins on the life supporting machine, let them use there resources or they should atleast respect peoples wishes and say the truth. They is no one who has birth rights to presidency.

  71. #79. accepted. he cant inspire courage when he does not have it. i am so scared. the leaders we have have very little to teach us about leadership.

  72. #81. i am worried about the funds being spent on the mwanawasa family. i hear its $30 000 per day. if this is true, can someone pull the plug. cruel but that money can save more lives in UTH. else the family should foot the bill.

  73. yakosa league, sate pin dolaz per day. even george bush doesnt spend that much.
30,000 dollars maybe zim dollar not US dollar

  74. @ Anonymus..#54,

    Prattling coxcomb,

your feeble and limp attempts at a comprehensive response gives away what lyes in between your ears,a pea sized brain

and what of your incoherent monologue,….are you a refugee that side? is Russia your country?the USSR is non existant;Post from your heart,….well guess what you don’t have to be a citizen(or refugee) of Zim,USA,China,Sudan etal or be directly affected to comment on their issues

and how pathetic does this get…no wonder africans dont tick blah blah blah,
pls quit bringing your race down at every opportunity, stop this self pity and victim syndrome, this has nothing to with my post, poor sod!

pls embrace and enjoy the rigour of thinking

  75. #61 Major, who is the acting vice president? its this same leaders of ours who are misleading us on the illness of our President. what is there to hide?

first they start by crying, then after realising they say the bigman is stable. I must confess that to some extent am been misinformed coz i cant understand.

    Qck recovery LPM

  76. These cabinet ministers, are they driving LPM’s agenda or not. why am asking is i can not hear the fight against corruption anymore, whats happening to the Ndola studium, because 2011 All Africa games are just around the corner.

  77. People if Kunda thought he was going to rule forever , he is no more , if FTJ also wanted the third term , he is also gone . Levy is equaly not gold to remain in power forever and imortal .

Maureen is to blem she does not have her husband `s illness at heart , we could see how she kept mentioning about her studies as priorty .

Lets just face it levy `s time is up .

  78. #88, Mpombo is the acting Vice president. I just learnt this from today’s Post Newspaper. This is besides the point but I agree with you that thse guys are hiding something. Are there no Zambians living near percy Hospital who can go there during visiting hours and give us info? Surely someone can go and peep through the window. Whether mpombo likes it or not, the truth will come out one day..

  79. num 87..contd @ Anonymous

I would like to apologise to you my fellow forumites,
you know this issue about LPM has dragged on for a bit too long and
tensions are slowly building each day

obviously my attempts to infuse a bit of light momented humour flew past the heads of some low lives, irking them in the process,

i remember mentioning in passing that hey,let me not bore you more, and knowing how reasonable Zambians are they understood

But then came this low life key board ape, seemingly too knowledgable for himself, pattering and spattering kak,

well perhaps it’s time i took heed to some of the advice that some of you have emailed me privately to not engage further with this scumbag

  80. There is no big insult than what Mpombo said of us medical officers. What Dr Chituwo said on Friday, was blogged here by me in the early days of LPM,s incapacitation, and i was called all sorts of names, remember. For your own information ,we had to pertition Dr Chituwo,as Fellow MDs to state the true condition of Mwanawasa.A CVA that attacks a president,is the same one that befalls a common citizen.Insult me again, the truth is there is almost zero probability that Mwanawasa will survive,HE IS ALMOST BRAIN DEAD AND ON RESUSCITATORS UNDER SEVERE SEDATION.Get that in your crease head Mpombo.

  81. Some insider told me that he got info from Paris that the president was out of ICU,off the machine, able to make some movements with aid; but Dr Chituwo seem to be talking about a condition of some weeks ago……, to be honest this in itself is confusing me; perhaps this is where the differences are emanating from; this could be the reason Mpombo could be alarmed. But this whole thing just baffles me; what is going on in this cabinet??? Why can’t they tell us one thing? Could Mulongoti issue a clarification why the acting Vice president and the Minister of Health are telling the nations 2 version of what should be the same story.

  82. zedians busy blogging just been so interesting guys I wish Mother zambia best of lucky in the coming elections chao

  83. George Mupombo? What a shame. Everytime you speak you said “National security” You *****ic Fuel shortage monster! I wonder what LPM saw in you to trust you with such a sensitive Ministry. You always wish you were a Corporal so you could shoot to stay in power. Zwaa! You time has come to leave, LPM is not coming whole again.
Chituwo bravo for once. “a spade is a spade not a bit spoon”

  84. Mpombo is really shameless!
How can he possibly say he Chituwo’s statement is alarming?
Chituwo i a medical Dr and i am sure when he drafted the statement he had to do it in such a careful manner so as not to alram the people while describing the President’s condition as accuratley as possible. Its really very disheartening to see Mpombo make such a stupid statement. Who does he take us for? Fools? This is such an insult to the Zambian pipo’s intelligence!!!

  85. Im not a persimist but the story below points to where we are going with levi’s illness:
    Sharon heavily sedated, outlook grim
Last Updated: Friday, January 6, 2006 | 12:13 AM ET
    CBC News
Doctors fighting to keep Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon alive say he may remain sedated well into the weekend. Sharon remains in critical but stable condition after suffering a stroke and undergoing seven hours of emergency surgery to stem serious bleeding into his brain.
There was no change in his condition overnight, a hospital spokesman said Friday morning.
Doctors say they may try to gradually awaken the 77-year-old after his brain has had time to rest and recover from the operation.

  86. Stupid zambians …look at all these from #1 to #100
A country full of Kaponyas and nyendule’s…what a country
    God have mercy

  87. dear government, please stop using these little ambiguous statements that say nothing if u want people to believe. u are fuelling this speculation and unrest

  88. George Mpombo, defence minister should be happy that health minister dr chituwo used the words “heavily sedated” instead of telling us that Levy is in a coma and supported by machines. Take the machine life support off and Levy will be no more – dead.
So what confusion is he talking about apart from his job. Pity us Zambians. We have no serious leaders.

  89. #91…. I think maureen has moved on and she is focusing on her life without Levy i.e. studying for her MBA, One month is a long time to mourn someone.

Rumour has it dat MMD wants to change the constitution to allow VP Banda to rule untill 2011…………..watch this space

  90. #103 Why are complaining those are the nyandules you produced and left and your successor produce kaponyas and left. Indeed continue praying for God to have mercy on you, KK and kafupi.

  91. Dr Chituwo is a professional medical doctor, so he is obliged to report facts. Mpombo just wants to quickly pass the wages bill through parliament. thereafter he will declare Levy impotent because the idea here is to secure huge gratuities for themselves. thugs.

  92. Dr Chituwo was right in his statement. He got the information from his fellow Dr in Paris. So, why is Mpombo disputing the truth about LPM latest condition.

VJ and Sakwiba Sikota have asked us Zambians to use sense in this situation. Get Ready, for the next tune in leadership.

  93. Mr know-it-all mwiinga tell us what it means to sedated – some of us think he is half asleep or semi dead or may be his eyes could see but his brain dead, or his brain dead but he seeing, pls mr know-it-all mwiinga since you seems to everything, explain to us.

  94. Iwe pombo we don’t want those crocodile tears. The condotion of the president will not allow him to rule the country again after being dicharged from the hospital. Forget about it. You think you are more security conscious than the rest of the Zambians. I salute Brian Chituwo’s briefing on Levy’s condition and it is true. Pombo is just protecting his job. Do you remember the way he used to look like when he had the long beard? What is Pombo’s profile? Cabinet is taking advantage of Levy’s illness to have their salaries increased. Levy was a very big obstacle for them and for sure some of them are rejoicing. There shall be uprising in Zambia if the bill is passed in Parliament.

  95. Mupombo, get a hair cut and shave your beard. I wonder how much is down there. If you get a brain use it, even if it consist of two cells.

  96. To everything there is a time. A time to be laugh, a time to cry. A time to sow, a time to reap. A time to be Happy, a time to be sad. A time to be Born and a time to Die. In this World Two things that are for sure:-

    1. Paying of Taxes &
    2. Death

  97. #114 careful, why wish someones dad and husband death. We know u its pay back time on Levy, u are jut jealous fellas.

  98. #84 buy me a ticket to where? i hope you are not suggesting that i leave my country! coz thats really insulting to me especially if you mean i live in some muzunguland. i reject your suggestion in the name of God.

  99. TWA PAPATA, TELL US THE TRUTH.
THIS IS OUR NATION AND LEVY IS OUR PRESIDENT, I AM SURE WE HAVE
LAWYERS WITHIN THE CABINET SO AS THE SAY, WE DESERVE TO KNOW THE TRUTH THE WHOLE TRUTH AND NOTHING BUT THE TRUTH.
U KNOW IN TIMES LIKE THIS WE SHOULD REMBEMBER TO WALK TOGETHER AS ONE WITH ONE HEART (TIYENDE PAMODZI NI MUTIMA UMODZI).

  100. No 48 please dont insult us.How can a cabbage rule a nation.Mpombo is being selfish. He knows he will be the biggest loser when LPM is offically declared incapacitated.Looking at MMD RB has a good chance of succeeding. After all he has the state machinery at his disposal.Mpombo had ambitions to succeed ba Levy but i think the scenario unfolding now ,bashi Nenani balaigeta.

  101. The concern should not be towards the publics’ perception of the information but the calibre and correctness of what the govt is giving out to the people.I commend Mr Chituwo for the updates but they shouldn’t take Zambians for fools by giving out such hollow reports that leave nothing but speculation owing to the recent happenings in our country after the president’s illness. Its logical to entertain the thought that our president is not coming back anywhere soon, and the dogs running govt depositories now are seeing silver linings in there clouds in the sickness of the presiedent. With these expired brains around,i surely don’t see a successor to Dr Levy Mwanawasa,oh poor Zambia………….

  102. am surprised by the imaturity of some pipo.the fact that icant work in the white mans land looks like he failed to either get a visa or deported feels depressed doent mean that everyone outside the country is sufferring.its a matter of choice, doesnt mean if you were born in zambia then you should die in zambia NO NO NO!!! editor plse delete useless comments.

  103. According to data we are getting from Paris is that,Maureen is not even by bedside, she just goes to watch LPM is a private room with no contact but via glass!!she’s enjoying herself with French dudes…any time there’s load shedding then LPM is gone!tell us the truth Brian or George or maybe Mike!!how true is that?

  104. It’s almost 2 months now since Levy passed away. Govt has not so announced because them guys are merely buying time to resolve the internal chaos in MMD and find a compromise candidate for the inevitable election for a new President. So, they have kept a deadman on life-support for their own selfish ends, total lack of respect for Levy and the dead in general.
    Wake up Zambia, Levy alifwa

  105. Mwe Bantu Ba zambia, lets be real. Since government is vague, it simply menas that the man is completely Unconscious. They would not hesitate to tell us if he is talking.

  106. zamandola guidance walasa. chansoni sana if there is no structure in place for such an occurence. really its becomin clearer that this is merely a ploy to buy time until they can decide who is the new man. it is unpossible that LPM will be able to resume presidential duties from now

  107. lest i turn into the many whiners that now characterize zambia, allow me to offer a solution where i complain. Let FTJ be president. dont pay him and lets drop those little charges. think clearly about a lot of the economic growth we are seeing now. these are fruits of chiluba government. despite his shortcomings i can argue he had more pro’s than cons. BRING FREDDY BACK!!!!

  108. # 128 There is nothing wrong with my input so the bad moutning is not necessary. Mind your language on the blog. Just read and make positive contributions to the topic at hand not to individuals. Your language is like you were born out of wedlock (Mwana wa Mchigololo)

  109. # 130 Shibumi why are you so woked up. what Black diamond is saying is true. there are great people who have died and life has continued. even Christ Died and opened a way for us. what sensible people are saying is that, we should not cry over LPM we need to move on. he was not born to rule us forevever. more over is contribution is a drop in a ocean. he could not even arrest Chiluba and yet we have spent millions of Kwacha to enrich the lawyers and his interest

  110. #127 that is the best idea i have heard… FTJ is the answer to this situation we find ourselves in. BOSSBWANAKAPOKOLA lol!!! where do u chaps find these names

  111. Levy is definately criticaly ill….but the govt is kind of scared…they keep saying he is in a stable condition..i really dont get what they mean by being stable…and how long will they hide the facts?

  112. You know the Ministers and MPs are in a hurry. They want to get money quickly before telling people that LPM is not coming back to rule Zambia. They know that that is why they have hasten up the issue of awarding themselves hefty salaries and allowances. RB knows and so does Mulongoti and the other nominated MPs. Zeddians please let’s call for elections we can not go on like this without a president. We all sympathise with our ailing LPM but to allow these vultures to plunder the little that LPM has achieved is not pardonable. Please elections! Elections! Elections!

  113. True #135, lets call for elections and not waste any time, we need a way forward and cannot be held ransom by greedy ministers who know their time is up

  114. Mwaanga, however, noted with regret the weaknesses in the constitutional provisions, which does not state the time-frame when the president should be allowed to recover.

“I think it will have to take a brave cabinet minister to call for a resolution on the illness of the president to submit to the Chief Justice. The cabinet minister who will raise this matter may be asked where he draws the powers from the constitution and if enough time has been given to allow the president to recover.

“But maybe a time will come when doctors attending to Mwanawasa in Paris, will s ay the president is not in the condition to continue. In the absence of this medical report from doctors in Paris, I unde

  115. Kwena pa blogg yenu pali insele, filishani bane!
but its good seeing this site as a country re-union point.Ba Kateka besu awe kwen chashupa lets pray for him….

  116. To everyone who persists in saying that the government is being vague or hiding the truth. Chituwo has told us everything we need to know. Lecy is very ill and he’s not coming back for a long time. As article 36 does not provide timelines, th nxt deadline will be 3 mths (end sep), when LPM as a civil servant will stop receiving a salary. 3 mnths after that a medical evaluation will have to be undertaken to ascertain the likelihood of his ever coming back to work. By my calulations this means that unless our elected leaders act in the national interest, or a God answers the nation’s prayers, RB could be in charge until the end of Dec 08. This is not a tenable situation.

  117. Listen to what they say u have a good point,RB will have to hang in there until such a time that levy is stable, but who do you think should succeed levy should matters depend on the ballot box?thats a multi-million question to be answered by every Zambia living or dead. The reality is since Mwanawasa took over and the Chiluba saga kicked in,the nation as a whole has been involved in political confusions not living room and time for us to groom anyone to take over Levy, and honestly speaking levy has tried,it wasnt easy but mufela ayesako….Where to from here?

  118. #140 thanks for your elaborate expalanation on the silence of Article 36 on timeline for what action has to be taken if the President is incapacitated. I think in this case we should appeal to medical experts to tell us if whether at the of 3 months LPM will be stable enough to resume work. If not then it should be time we started arrangeging for presidential elections. Surely Zeddians in as much as we sympathisise with LPM there should not be a vacuum inn the presidency. You have actually seen what the Mpombos, Kapolis, Mulongotis have started doing. Plundering our resources with impunity ah ! Let us wake up. the states

  119. iwe chi ’21’ dont you have any better things to do…..like work, study and the like….why are you writing so much ubushilu.
    Get real and get busy

  120. Mpombo lives up to his name! He is still on his fours before LPM.We need people who have the welfare of the whole nation at heart and who see that there is a place for contingency planning in a situation like this one. I’ve never admired VJ but he made a lot of sense when he spoke about the possibility of a constitutional option. It is clear even to those of us far from home that different potential ‘presidents’ are positioning themselves for the inevitable power struggle that is bound to ensure if we all continue to think like impombo.Wake up Zambians.Agitating for a way forward is not the same as wishing LPM ill.I’m sorry he is ill and praying. Prayer doesn’t preclude action.
