Chief Mulundu of the Chishinga people in Mwense District has pledged his support to MMD’s presidential candidate in the forth coming October 30 presidential by-election.
Speaking in an interview with ZANIS today, Chief Mulundu said that he had endorsed Rupiah Banda in the October 30, 2008 presidential by-election for the purpose of continued economic development in the nation.
Chief Mulundu said he had chosen to support Acting President Banda because he was chosen by the Late Republican President Dr. Levy Mwanawasa to be his deputy, the second highest office in the nation.
He said that for the purpose of continuity he had directed his subjects to support Mr Banda because he was capable and had leadership qualities that would improve the lives of the people of Zambia.
And Voters Cards replacement exercise has commenced in most parts of the district in Mungwi.
A check by ZANIS at most polling stations in the district over the weekend found most polling stations open and the election staff were ready to attend to people coming for the replacement of the lost cards.
The voters card replacement exercise has however started on a low note as most people across the district are not still aware about the exercise.
About 74 polling stations have so far started the process of issuing the lost cards to the electorate.
29 polling stations have however, not yet commenced the issuance of the lost voters cards at the materials are just being delivered to the areas.
As at yesterday, only one person was attended to at Kalala middle basic school in chief Makasa’s area.
At Makasa Basic and Itinti Schools 3 people visited the station for voter’s card replacement by noon yesterday.
In a related development, Zambia News Information Services (ZANIS) in the district has started conducting publicity in various parts of district in a bid to inform and educate the masses on the forthcoming presidential by-election through public address system and videos Shows.
So far, 6 areas have been visited during publicity which commenced on Friday last week.
The move has cheered the people of Makasa especially who said for long time ZANIS has not been able to carry-out video shows in the remote areas in the district to educate the people on various important such as educating the people about their voting rights.
Solomon Machumba, a resident of Makasa has applauded ZANIS for the initiative.
Machumba appealed to ZANIS has challenged ZANIS to continue offering such programmes to the members of the public and not only when there were elections.
And in Choma, A facilitator at the on-going District Voter Education Committee (DVEC) trainers workshop in Choma has urged voter education facilitators to exercise neutrality and transparency during the electoral process ahead of the presidential by-election scheduled for October 30.
Speaking during her facilitation, National Voter Education Committee (NVEC) facilitator Doreen Ndlobvu appealed to facilitators to be non-partisan, neutral and transparent during the voter education exercise for the electorate to make independent decisions.
Ms Ndlobvu pointed out that voter education facilitators should be mindful of their roles in the electoral process.
She said facilitators should merely facilitate and let the voters to elect a President of their own choice.
Speaking during the same occasion, Mazabuka District Voter Education Committee Chairperson Chombenga Munsaka, requested Government to consider extending the on-going voter ‘s card replacement exercise, to enable more people to exercise their democratic right of casting their vote.
He said the time allocated to the voter’s card replacement exercise was too short to capture many eligible voters.
In reference to the exercise that started last Sunday, Mr. Chombenga said few people are likely to replace their lost voters’ cards.
“The replacement of voters cards should be a continuous process even when there are no elections in the offing. This is to allow more people to have cards and be able to vote in an election time,” he said.
The Electoral Commission of Zambia is conducting a voter education exercise for election facilitators in Southern Province for facilitators in readiness for the forth coming presidential elections.
ENDS/CB/PK/ZANIS.
He is from Congo so he can go ahead and instruct his congolese subjects.
What’s wrong with these Chiefs kanshi?
What chief?? he can even be overthrown today. he is just dreaming
chief… they should all be sued these partisan ones, it’s against the law
Corruption and vote buying at their very best.
Bayamba ba MMD. bribed chiefs by getting them vehicles while the subjects suffer. hope they vote wisely and not be intimidated!!!!
Those cars are paying off
Any one can declare support for Sata if they wanted. They just think Sata is like a monkey sitting on fire
Its only logical that chiefs think in these lines. The main reasons being that they know there is always the second in command that will take over from them should they die, all the villagers know that so putting this thinking on a wider scale they apply this to the head of state and his deputy this is one reason that the government is confident they will win. If a chief dies you do not expect another family to take over less you want a shaka situation and people in rural areas agree to this thats something that people on the copperbelt, Lusaka etc do not seem to realise and well us abroad always name calling them.
Am with you chief,
RB FOR PRESIDENT
HH FOR VICE
HH needs the experience for the 2011 elections
Viva #1 ! Some of these chiefs are poverty stricken. What do you expect. Why direct the subjects? They have their own right to vote for a candidate of their choice. This chief must be arrested!
NOSENSE…………………ATASE…NANAKA UKUNFUTILA….
Chief kwisa nabanani! Imwe ba MMD you should be ashamed of yourselves, you were from relinguishing Pf’s MP from luapula siting the reasons of chief chitimukulu’s directions to vote 4 pf durin 2006 elections. It was a crime for PF then and it siuts you now. Directly and openly solicitin 4 votes. I can see you are desparate. my vote was on you and you have just given PF a vote. I’m ashamed andf sadened to be afiliated with you. BYE nangu PF akaluse-BYE
I think we might be exaggerating the power and influence these chiefs have over their people. I stayed in Moscow, sori village for a couple of years, the chiefs in the normal day to day life of the villager are irrelevant, almost invisible. So let the chiefs say what they want, very few people listen to them anyway. Forward with Joyce Nonde 2011)
Never heard of such b.ollocks in my life.Imagine Queen Elizabeth comes out in support of the Labour Gtv?I only hope Sata wins the elections and impounds all the 4×4 they acquired with GRZ funds.
Zambia is worse than Zimbos circus.
My hope is that he is not intimidating the subjects. As an individual he is ok, but watch him closely. People must decide whom to vote for freely. Lets go guys we need to equip the electorate with the necessary info to enable them vote wisely. Such chiefs must be cautioned.
Any vote on ballots other than for the MMD candidate is wasted exercise. This is a victory election for President elect Rupiah Bwezani Banda.
he is my chief and uncle
Cheap Chief!!! Pajero yamifulungaya amano.
Had so much erspect for Chiefs not now!
ONE CHIEF HAV IT YO WAY…NOT EVERYONE CAN BE BOT..THANK U VERY MUCH…
VIVA cHIEF. iTS JUST rb THIS TIME. FOR THOSE THAT ARE OPPOSING HIM, WELL AND GOOD, IS DEMOCRACY AFTER ALL. YOU ARE EXCERCISING YOU RIGHTS. RB PLOT ONE
Chief, you are right by giving timely advice to your subjects.
Vote RB.
Chief My A##, who the he## is this one? people talk about continuing LPM development, sorry to ask, Which development kanshi? and Mwanawasa doesnt deserve all these praises just because he is dead, the man was expected and supposed to do that. So you Chief we do not anyone to continue but someone with new ideas
Abena Bwezani niba njunga ka. That was a clever move. Manje letani mu kola yanga katundu. Injoyee wabwela!
Hape Hape New year, Chrisimisi yafika musanga chaka chino.
This chief is so dull and irritating…Doesnt he know that it is a secret ballot?..Even if his subjects voted for the oposition there is nothing he can do them..this is one chief who has gotten trigger happy becoz he has been promised a car loan..a car which he will drive with no roads…He is better off doing it the Katele style i.e. use of laptop computers..after all Mwense district is well known for serious witchcraft..the type of computer software they manufacture makes Bill Gates look like a school kid !!!!!!!!!!
The chief is clever and knows where his butter comes from.
RB is the one winning these elections!
MMD the only party with a National identity.
The New Constitution through NCC is a must.
Somebody will beg from the Chineese one day with that finished cresida.
#8 is right bcoz any chief can endorse their preffered president. Why does it hurt other pipo when RB is mentioned? The CHIEF is right,ICINTU ICHO UMWENE, KABILI WIPUSHE.
God only knows why Zambia accords these backward chiefs an arena to express thier views instead of intellectuals. In this day and age people are still referred to as “subjects”!!
#31 Zambian in Canada
Please I APOLOGISE before anything we villager not to blame zis elections waste of monies except we to day also enjoyee.
We toked and toked the oposition pos pone election 2011. yaba not listen at all. Now RB donate nice car me very very happy plaz computer.
These chiefs dont seem to know that they are not suppossed to support any individual party openly. Anyway what do you expect when the pajeros are parked in front of them.
#33 Chi anonymous find another name. Muletufulunganya mwee!
The man is serious.
RB is the next president. MMD is not one man party like PF and UPND. Sata only campaign in Lusaka and copperbelt so the opposition should forget about wining, its RB.
uyu chief chipuba
Ala bane imfumu shanomba they are disappointing just because of a 1kg sugar brain yashima . Abepelefye we don’t woe it to the chief but to our own selves after all we are the ones to vote , so my fellow villagers be wise ,that chief is eating and you are watching like Lazaro wamu bible
#31 which Province are you maybe we can meet and analyse these Zedian Politicians naba Chief ba nsala
The chief was drunk when he made the statement. So, forgive him.
Is being a “subject” the same as being a slave? Only slaves can be ordered to follow instructions from their masters. Slavery is long gone, I thought. It is important for the “subjects” to be educated about their rights, otherwise, as someone said, we can “huff and puff” but to no avail! Like #38 said, while the chief is enjoying, the “subjects” are salivating like hungry dogs- is this what the people want, really?
All these chiefs rallying behind RB should be ashamed of themselves. How can they decide on behalf of all their subjects?
Whatever Rupiah put in their sugar…
Looks like the sugar and the cars are working well.
Iwe ka mulundu wadya ,na motorcar but your subjects are wallowing in poverty. they only eat once a day, imwe to ma subject dnt say we never told you! check your mealie meal bin before you vote
Princess, London WHAT EXPERIENCE????
Forgive this thief, sorry the chief, sugar from sugar dad confused him.
#24, you are right. Mwanawasa took over most of the projects initiated by FTJ eg, Mining(If in doubt, please consult the department of mining), transport and communication etc. FTJ also took over some projects initiated by KK. What I am trying to say is that all the three presidents must be respected for what the have done.
i am not goint to cast my votes coz i dont like any of them …
The Chief is merely giving his opinion and if you do not like it feel free to vote otherwise. The Queen of England is the Head of State and the political parties and Prime Ministers pledge allegiance to her. The position of our Chiefs cannot therefore be eqauted to that of the Queen of England.
itufumu busenga atase
Sata (PF) and HH (UPND) need to get serious and start going to the rural areas to campaign if they are serious about winning. Every vote counts when it comes to elections- even ones from the rural areas !
HH is alredy there and has been to so many rural areas/ check his web site
#39. I am in British Columbia
This chief is a chipuba indeed
I am let down by some of the contributions being made by our colleagues. Can we please have constructive debates on this page.
Brown envelop ka mfumu. utu tu mfumu twanjala. How come NAIS is interviewing chiefs on which president they support. Who is sending them? Why not leave chiefs alone and do developmental work of sensitising the villegers on the importance of their vote and how to vote than campaigning. Maybe everyone now should write on his /her back which presidential candidate he/she is supporting for NAIS to report on. is it necessary. Is it what NAIS is paid for. The department has really no job to do. Poor civil servants being used to campaign. God help us.
this ka chief is dull. how many times do we have to teach elderly pipo like u to avoid direct involvement in politics? muletu sebanya ati ku liverpool takwaba abatutulu. useless ka chief. am annoyed.
THis is nonsence. We shall nulify all votes in these areas were these chiefs are interfering in the voting of their subjects. What is the difference from the PF Mwansabombwe Seat which was nulified by the court citing interference from Mwatakazembe.
Please chief think twice before you waist your vote.
And for ZANIS why are they only going in some chiefs which seem to be supporting RB?
Go PF Go GO and GO forward.
just imagine u people it is only this chief who is benefiting from the things is getting from the so called MMD and ndalama banda u you will get nothing and he is forcing u to vote 4 a man with no plans 4 zambia dont vote 4 regrates imwe vote 4 the man of action 4 better schools ,hospitals, roads, working conditions and good agriculture policie VIVA PF ni ba SATA chabe
people its hi time that u should wake up open your eyes and dont waste yo time to VOTE 4 the corrupt GVT of NDalama banda ,sitimufuna takana and u who re getin sugar and some other things just get them but no were to put yo VOTE$ why mu VOTE muntu wa corruption a imwe ganizaponi mushe MMD no more
#59. kaimbi,
So for you, you cannot support any candidate unless you are benefiting from that candidate’s party?
I think that view is not correct; I believe every citizen is free to support any candidate of his/her choice. There is nothing wrong with anyone supporting Sata or RB or HH. All the three are candidates given equal opportunity by the law of the land through the ECZ.
You, yourself you have said “VIVA PF”, should anyone say you are benefiting from PF? I think it is about what you believe about that candidate and what you think they are able to do for the country.
Utuma chiefs! Corrupt and not to be trusted. That is why they used to sell subjects for toys.
RUPIAH BANDA IS CORRUPT.
chief mulundu boyi naine ndine mfumu boyi waziba ka but what u hv started is not good let your people vote 4 the person they want ,you lets just b getting the things they re givin and VOTE wisely
#60. kaimbi,
If what RB did was corruption, then SATA is equally corrupt.
Did you not see him in the post of Tuesday dishing out money to one of his cardres who was perfoming before him? And the post says “Sata rewards a cadre who was performing before him”; what reward? If HH or RB gave money to those who are dancing before them, will the post call that act as reward for the dancers or they will say HH or RB are dishing out money to win vote? Subjectivity can be very dangerous, let us be objective. I am not a cadre myself of any party but let us be fair enough to all the candidates if we think we subscribe to democracy. But I know that most people in zambia are strugling with democracy.
#64.OK iwe ok boyi vene nikabapo nivo chinga boma waziba vene ukamba may b vinga nkaleko nazelu but why were they not doing them all along nkufunsa yanka we
Hunger, poverty, njala, insala, buchete, then go F=for RB and SATAn, for more money in your pockets go for HH. He is an economical manager.
BA CHIEF WISE DECISSION TO COLLECT THE GOODS FROM MMD… NOW VOTE FOR PF… AND STOP THIS NONSENSE OF TELLING CHIEFS TO VOTE FOR ICHAKUTINISHAKO ABAICHE RB…
VOTE PF
PF will pay the chief’s a visit then baza zandila RB. Pabwatooooooooooooo
#10 princess (muloyi muloyi) HH can never be made vp he is too self centered.HON RB will appoint 1 from mmd muzalila
PF needs not less that k500million per rural district to de-campaign MMD anything short that then they are doomed. there are so many eastners on CB,Lusaka …the votes will be shared thus reducing the chances of PF. PF should concentrate in luapula, northern part of central, rural parts of CB …..pump in at least k 500million per district and ensure an out right win in these areas to brighten up there status.in lusaka, most of the lumpens in lusaka and CB are not registered votes…most the pipo from the eastner are not open to others but will cast their votes according on MMD …..so are the tongas, lenjes, ila, solis and educated lads on HH…..kaponyas on PF
#70 Where I am it is only five to 11 in the morning. Imwe namukolwa kale! Try The Boat lager next time. You wont be this useless! lol!
Try tomorrow mate!
corruption at its peak…….. Please chiefs– join politics. we know you are part of the plunderers
CHIEFIIIIIIIIII! UKOKWINE, IFYAMUNTWANIKANI.VIVA HH VIVA ZAMBIA.
#13 thats politics you will be confused on how pipo thing. One man poison is another mans cup of tea. If you are old enough remember how we condamined sata with merzarf flat deal corruption and how he deposited money in his personal account for corela medicine??? To day he is our heroe. If you can’t defeat this madness just join.
RB wins
But imwe banthu iwme ine muni dabwisa… If Chief Mulundu endorsed Micheal Sata you were going to say …eehh Tribalism…. Chaba Nashani…. eehh Congolese !
However i’m just happy that we from the North(luapula and Northern) look beyond tribal lines in the best interest of the Nation. We are responsible for the 2001 LPM victory. Nangu ayishile tuchinjisha amano… RIP!
Mukamona ifikafuma Ku Chipata uko 90%votes RB. Mwe ba Kamushi Mwe!…:)
