Zambia Braces For Final Round 2010 Qualifying Draws

Share

The final leg journey for the 20 still standing on the road to Angola Africa Cup finals and South Africa World Cup tournament in 2010 will be clearly mapped out today in Zurich, Switzerland when Fifa conducts the final Africa zone group qualifying draws.

Amongst them are Zambia who topped Group 11 who are in Pot 3 for the draws at the Fifa headquarters.

Whatever the outcome, Zambia are set to face a marque tie against one of the five top seeded African nations that includes rising giant and 1992 African champions Cote d’Ivoire.

Cameroon, Egypt, Nigeria and Ghana are the other top sides in Pot 1.

And Faz’s travel agent must start planning for at least two trips to west or north Africa after today’s draws.

The prospect of making two trips to North and West Africa in the final group round looks inevitable with Pot 2 decked with three North African nations namely Morocco, Tunisia and Algeria.

A trip to West Africa to face either Mali or Guinea is also in the offing.

Journeys East and North-east beckon from Pot 4 with possible draws against Rwanda and Sudan including neighbors Malawi or Mozambique.

And a grudge trip to Togo who are also in Pot 4 is possible whom Zambia pipped in the last stage in Group 11 to the automatic qualifying top spot in the pool.

Meanwhile, Burkina Faso, Benin, Gabon and Kenya are in Pot 3 together with Zambia so they are out of Herve Renard’s planning unless for a diet of friendly matches.

The top three finishers in the final group stage qualifiers book their places to the Angola finals in January 2010 while the respective pool winners get the golden ticket to the World Cup finals later in the summer of the same year.

  1. predictions, zambia, nigeria, morocco, togo, sudan. just prepare adquately mr kalu and your corrupt munaile’s, don’t swindle the money from GRZ like you did on mayuka transfer.

  2. #1, you are wrong. There must only be 4 teams in a group, and not 5.
My preferred group should be Ivory Coast, Tunisia, Zambia and Togo. This is to prove Zambia’s strength and the calibre of our coach. So that when Zambian qualifiers to WC, then it will be on merit and not like a fluke. Then we can boast that Zambia is really a footballing nation. I cant wait for the draws.

  3. Can Zambia really make it this time? Can the guys show the world what a great footballing nation Zambia once was? #3 I agree with you and in as much as I wud want Zambia to qualify, it has to be on merit and proof enough to know that we will/can go far in the competition. I will be watching the world cup in SA and I wud be happier if my country will be there doing there thing. Go Zambia go..show the world what you can do. Don´t disappoint us guy..

  4. Renard was quoted as saying that he doesn’t want to meet cameroun or some big teams. What hope do we have when the coach already has his tail between his legs? God help us…

  5. Ha zambia the comedy starts. we Zambians are so full of ourselves. I would rather vote another housemate to save TK (Takondwa) in the BBAIII than to hope for Zambia going to world cup. see how we struggled to qualify to the next roud. helped in part by TOgo’s problems on their trip to Zambia and the our group only remaining with 3 teams. I dont wish our team bad luck but it’s the usual challade same mistakes and un patriotism of our team in most cases. why do our players always only break into Kangaroo leagues abroad? Soccer players are the most feted in zambia sleeping in plush hotels whats the results we get????

  6. Zambia can only make it if they organise themselves properly. The opening game is the most important encounter in this phase, so that we do avoid using calculators to add and subtract points in our favour. I only hope they will win all the games and progress to the 2010 show piece.

  7. Up to now Renard dose not have a team all what he says is that (we are building for who long sure zambians?).Lets hope that this time around we are going now not efyakutinatina GRZ is paying alot of money for this games ka.We want players like mbesuma, chris, kalaba, felix, chansa, mbakala,Tana, sinkala, sichone,Jacob,Mweene, fwayo and kola not mayukwa etc

  8. Why should we be scared if we are aspiring to play soccer at the highest level. If we prepare adequately,we can excel. We used to beat all these teams but because they never relented they are now better than us.There are no more underdogs in football.

  9. Our league is nearly ending but look at the scorers chart? Toppers have pathetically very few goals. It does not mean our defence is potent. its not. It shows we dont have natural strikers in our local league.
Look at the African Champions league, it’s lucrative but we keep being bunddled out at early stage each year. This shows our local lads no match.Zambia has very few proffessional players meaning: we
supposed to have strongets local league all around.
This poor confidence in shoooting straight at goal must be polished. lets hold seminars and workshops for local coaches within zambia to benefit as many as posible. other wise gone are the days Zed was scoring 4 – 0 against opponent

  10. Doesnt matter which team we are paired with, all we need is to prepare adequately and beat any team that comes our way. To do this you need a strong economy and a strong president with good sport policy instead of talking abt toilets as Sata does. Therefore, we are blessed coz we will have HH as president so all the preparations will be smooth and running. VIVA Chipolopolo and vote HH and UPND

  11. There is no African team in pot 1 that we have neverbeaten,so we can still do it with courage, pride, hard work, committment and professionalism

  12. Zambia can qualify only if the top official boys kalusha and his freind Munaile work extra had. The funny thing about these boys they in a physical traineer. Let this young so called Renard work had only he will leave the country earlier than he came.
Kalusha, Munaile and your brother Renard work had or things will not be good for you.

As we are waiting for these games………….
    Its VIVA pabwatoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

  13. 23: stop riding on history, yes we could have beaten them before but does our our current calibre of players honestly match with any team in pot 1? I agree wth you on courage, hard work and commitment, but the most important of all and which, unfortunately, is lacking in our players is professionalism & natural skill!

Let us just be modest in our expectations so that we reduce the level of frustration.

  14. RENARD what you are saying is to not good.We all read papers and follow what is there even making calls to find out if its true or not.We are very much sure that you guys you to select players with merit.Sinkala did not say what you said man, you and KALU you sim to a problem. We dont want that guys. Call players who can bring zambia to the higher map.Be professional guys we respect you and we dont want to lose that respect we have for you guys.Ba KALU tamwakaleke?you want abena MAYUKWA so that kuti MWALYAMO shame baguy. You call player on MERIT ATASE.

  15. RENARD what you are saying is to not good.We all read papers and follow what is there even making calls to find out if its true or not.We are very much sure that you guys, you should select players on merit.Sinkala did not say what you said man, you and KALU you sim to be a problem. We dont want that guys. 16. #27 History can repeat itself.Dont confuse yourself, all i am saying is we can do it if our players can have all the attributes i have listed. In other words we shouldnt be scared of any team.Cowardice wont take us anywhere. We are already in it hence we have to get on with it.To succeed we need all the attributes i listed. You said our players dont have professionalism,if so its high time they became professionally groomed in readiness for these games. These players are technically better than our yester year players hence we can build on that.We need to take a positive approach to this and prepare well and we need belief in ourselves and not enferiority complex

  17. Zambia can take the lead if adequate preparation is put in place. Not that frustrating team i do see full of under 20 boys. This is not the time to try and error.I hope RENARD you have started looking for players and you have known some not those young guys you do bring.Try to lisen to people we our good players who can bring sunnity to country.Organise them on time dont train players who will not even play. You like getting usless guys. Be professional young man if you want your CV to go to the another level.Dont let corrupt guy to confues you,you will faster then you came.

  18. Chills (27&30)I totally agree with you on the need to have a positive approach especially that we are already in the race, but am speasking as a fun who is realistic. Zambia finished top of group 11, but the questions to consider are: how many games did we win? How many goes did we score? We are the worst among teams who were on top of groups.

You’re saying our current players are technically better than those of yester years, but my brother(or sister) what is more important in games are results, and currently we have no name in the team we can confidently look to for goals. I just dont know where we’ve lost it!

  19. Looks like a tough prospect. Algeria have had some bad times in the past 10 years like Zambia, so theoretically we should be a good match for them and Rwanda, then with Egypt, well we all know the history between us and Egypt. We just need to prepare adequately.

  20. It will be a miracle if when we qualify. Our League is still raw.I think Renard is right when he says we should avoid Cameroon.Pastor Makembo doesnt know what he is talking about, infact,he should tell us what he did when he played for City Of Lusaka and how far he went.Let him talk about our League first.

  21. #37 We must be proud of ourselves for achieving to be where we are in the world of soccer. Many so called better countries than Zambia are not there. As i said its no good to just look at negatives without balancing up with positives.England believes they are the best in the world even if they have only 1966 to show.On our day in soccer we can beat anyone if we adopt the attributes i listed earlier. We need tobelieve in ourselves.Self fulfilling prophecies say if we believe we wont qualify then really we wont. The point is we need to work hard from now on and we can qualify

  26. Fair draw! We stand a realistic chance of qualifying to the AFCON 2010. As for World cup, I feel we are still not yet good enough but I can’t rule out the possibility as we stand a chance like any other team if we do our home work well. Good Lucky Zed and love.

  27. We should win all our home games, draw two away games and win one than we shall be home and dry.Losing any game should not be part of the deal period!

  28. #50 its good to know that people like you are really using the net to the fullest….please let the preparations start now without any excuses….we really need the experience and young players put together….all the best zambia.

  29. Zambia here we come. The group in which zed has been paired is the easiest group our nation has ever been drawn in the recent past. I expect zed to qualify from this group….go chipolopolo boyz go

  30. Thank GOD our group is very fair. We are going to make it im sure, let us just make sure that SATA wins and all will be well with Zambia.

  31. Our group look ok and I think the chipolopolo boys will have and upper hand against the African Champions. We will pull through to South and ofcourse it requires adequate preparations and serious programme to ensure the boys are in shape.

Thank God Incoming president HH will provide the strong support to support and soccer in particular. Good luck Zambia and VOTE HH and the UPND

  32. #57 is that so? its the easiest for Egypt.Just forget about the world cup, let the best teams compete, Statiscally I dont see Zambia winning a game against Egypt, With Zaki,Zidan’s current form, Its Egypts group, though soccer is a game full of suprises.I love soccer, I love Chipolopolo, but as a former Nchanga Rangers player i’m talking from experience, its important to accept that you can not compete with some teams, all depends on your current form. With Zambias current form, we are still going up hill. Let’s not just say we have the chance just for the sake of being patriotic. With regards to our national teams current peformance. The groups favours Egypt.

  33. Bane the draw has been conducted in Zurich for the joint World and Africa cup qualifiers and I strongly feel this is the time for mother Zambia to qualift
    Group c
    Zambia
    Egypt
    Rwanda
    Algeria

  34. Very fair group #58 that says alot. Good luck Zambia. We need very strong friendlies stating NOW, Pls Kalu and your FAZ we need to go to da WC, its just next door. Show us what you are made of.

  35. # 62 if you are not a soccer fan, I would advise you to keep quite and not make silly comments. Dont comment on topics beyond your scope.

  36. its a fair draw.its better to be heading to north africa than west africa. Its good we draw with egypt and this should give our boyz some confidence.

  37. West Africa is full of juju ,tricks, stars and corruption.its also too hot for zambians.problems with flight connections etc

  38. its a fair draw. in futbal everything’s possible as long as u believe.so every 1 believe and have belief in chipolopolo.we beat italy 4-0 in ancient times so what can stop up beating egypt in modern time ?
