Construction of a police post at Ronald Ross General Hospital in Mufulira District is nearing completion.
Site Manager, Moses Chibale disclosed that most of the work has been done and the police post will be ready for handover to the government in three weeks’ time.
Mr Chibale disclosed that the project is being funded under the 2025 Constituency Development Fund.
He said workers are now laying terrazzo flooring and painting the building.
Meanwhile, residents and business owners in Sections 1 and 2 of Kantanshi Township have welcomed the development.
The residents described the development as a major step toward improving security in the area.
One of the residents, Bridget Mambo said criminal activities had made life difficult for traders and families for years.
Echoing these sentiments, another resident, Miriam Tembo said the area was prone to crime causing residents to live in constant fear while conducting business or going about their daily activities.
She hoped that the project would be completed soon.
Another resident, Brendah Ngosa expressed optimism that the presence of a police post will help curb crime and address security challenges that have long affected the area.
Ms Ngosa said the opening of the police post will create a safer environment once it is fully operational.
“We are happy with this police post that they have brought here because criminal activities have been high in Section 1,”She said.
