Kafue DC hails peaceful campaigns

Kafue District Commissioner, Maurice Hikapulwe has commended political parties participating in the August 2026 General Elections for conducting peaceful campaigns in the district.

Speaking in an interview with the media, Mr Hikapulwe said the district has not recorded any incidents of political violence since campaign activities commenced.

He praised the political parties for maintaining peace and urged them to continue conducting their campaigns in a peaceful manner.

“I am very happy with the peaceful campaigns in the district. We have had some issues here and there, but generally there has been no violence,” he said.

Mr Hikapulwe underscored the need for all political parties participating in this year’s General Elections to adhere to the campaign timetable in order to avoid clashes.

He stated that following the agreed schedule would help maintain peace throughout the campaign period.

“I want to urge all political parties to follow the timetable so that everyone has a chance to campaign,” he added.

Meanwhile, Mr Hikapulwe said voter education activities are progressing well in the district.

Mr Hikapulwe however, urged facilitators to reach all parts of the district to ensure that citizens receive adequate information regarding the 2026 General Elections.

“Voter education is a very important component of any general election and I want to commend the voter education facilitators, they are doing a good job,” he said.
