The Zambia Police in Northern Province has launched investigations in a case of aggravated robbery in which a motorcycle rider was attacked and robbed of a motorcycle by two unknown criminals.
Northern Province Police Commanding Officer, Simunji Mulonda, says the incident occurred on June 16, 2026 at around 13:00 hours at Sinai Village in Senior Chief Mwamba’s Chiefdom in Kasama District.
Mr Mulonda disclosed that the victim, identified as Prosper Chileshe aged 25 of Simbeye Village, reported the matter to Kasama Central Police Station on June 17, 2026 at 15:14 hours that he had been attacked by two unknown criminals who hired him to transport them to Sinai village.
He said particulars of the report indicate that the victim was attacked and robbed of an unregistered King Lion motorcycle, red in colour and valued at K22, 800, by the two unknown individuals.
Mr Mulonda told the media that the victim sustained painful eyes after unknown chemicals were sprayed into his face by one of the suspects.
“One of the suspects sprayed unknown chemicals into the victim’s face, causing him to fall to the ground and as he attempted to recover, the second suspect threatened him with a knife and subsequently mounted the motorcycle and fled from the scene,” he added.
Mr Mulonda further narrated that the victim later managed to reach out to members of the public for help but efforts to pursue the suspects proved unsuccessful.
He said a docket has since been opened and investigations in the matter have commenced with no arrests made and the stolen motorcycle not yet recovered.
Meanwhile, Police have instituted investigations and launched a manhunt for a suspect identified as Steven Ndalama, aged 32, of Masonde Village in Chief Chipalo’s Chiefdom of Luwingu District for allegedly threatening to hack his wife and two young children using an axe.
Mr Mulonda said the matter was reported to Luwingu Police Station on June 17, 2026 at 19:00 hours by Beatrice Mulenga, aged 25, of the same village.
He said brief facts of the matter are that on June 16, 2026 at around 20:00 hours, the suspect allegedly informed his wife that he wanted another child, however, the complainant responded that the two children they currently have were still too young.
Mr Mulonda added that the response angered the suspect, who allegedly grabbed their three- year -old son and threatened to kill him but was later rescued.
He said on June 17, 2026 at around 10:00 hours, the suspect allegedly armed himself with an axe and threatened to kill his wife together with their two children and further threatened to take his own life thereafter.
Mr Mulonda said during the incident, the complainant managed to wrestle the axe from the suspect and escaped from the house before seeking refuge and reporting the matter to the police
He explained that the axe believed to have been used in committing the offence has since been recovered and secured as an exhibit, while a docket has been opened and investigations are currently underway.
Mr Mulonda has appealed to members of the public with information regarding the whereabouts of the suspect to immediately report to the nearest police station.
